Was really pleased with how the thread went yesterday. Wonder if we can sustain it.

I had a really unusual but wholly pleasant day, which included a bunch of surprises, including a message from Rich Orford, bless him. He never ever forgets.

"Happy birthday sir! Have you received your telegram from the king yet or am I a year early? x"

I was also treated to a meal by a bunch of "friends", some of whom appear to have difficulty with simple maths, gave me a bunch of birthday pressies which included some golf balls, 2 Tesco Finest Egg Custards, a pack of 6 bread rolls, and 3 hand made walking sticks. (I don't use a walking stick). Don't ask. I have some very weird friends.

Which begs the question, what is the weirdest/best/worst birthday present you've ever received?

    Happy Birthday Tony.
Do you think the fact that two out of the three incorporate a "V" sign is significant.

    YESTERDAY I ........

..... realised that Harry Kane isn't a 'Leggy Old Has-Been' after all.

He was obviously tired and definitely 'Leggy' in the Euro's this Summer, and it was obvious from the first 5 minutes against Serbia, when he got the ball on a breakaway, and two Serbian defenders caught him in a matter of strides..... and I was very much of the opinion he was pretty much finished......

... but isn't it AMAZING what a nice Holiday and a bit of R & R can do for you. B)

He looked a totally different player last night on his 100th (Golden Cap) appearance in an England shirt, and scored two very good goals (admittedly against the minnows of Finland, but who have a very good 'Keeper).

Hopefully he will break Peter Shilton's record appearance record (apparently scheduled to be in the 2026 WORLD CUP FINAL, and maintain his 68% goals record in the meantime, and keep it going against the Best Teams in the World too.

More than 2 goals every 3 games at International level is FANTASTIC

.... WELL DONE Harry Kane :)

Happy belated Birthday for yesterday @Tikay10 .

Obv the shop where the numbers were purchased had run out of number 9's.

89/97/99 (delete as appropriate) ;) . Nice that Mr Orford still keeps in touch with you.

Yesterday I walked my legs into submission, got told by a vascular surgeon to drop 100lbs if I want treatment and was put on a booze ban by my GP who then referred me to a Dietician.

Was that a great day ?

You bet it was because it means I'm alive and functioning after a fashion. Winner, winner chicken dinner. Minus the crispy skin, creamy mash, rich gravy and chilled Sancerre of course.

My brother once gave his wife (now ex) a Tumble Dryer as a Christmas present and it wasn't even a full sized one but a counter top one, let's just say that it wasn't very well received but on the plus side his clothes were dried quicker than normal that year... :D
