BI is Buy-in not Bring in (bring in being what the player with the lowest door card (highest in razz (f razz)) does on 3rd street in stud games). Posted by LadyFingrs
Good spot - had an old school moment there. Opening post amended accordingly
In Response to Re: Poker Strategy: Abbreviations. : i totally agree with you acesrover, but has anyone ever wondered why abbreviation is such a long word?? Posted by DAVEYZZ
LOL never thought about that, there are lots of odd things like this in the world - Just look at the word Phonetic, this represents spelling something how it sounds? but it's spelt with a PH instead of a F !!!!
Laws are also odd, 18 to rent a dirty movie, 16 to do the acts that are in the dirty movie lol
Ante???,don`t understand. sb = small blind bb = big blind ante= don`t know Numpty needs to know... Posted by STEVEMAX
Antes are kind of like a running tax, Steve. Some cash games use them to bump up the pot each hand, some tournaments introduce them to the blind structure to pick up the action.
Players post antes each and every hand. So in a £1/2 game, you might also decide to have an ante of 25p. That means every player would have to put that 25p in, and the blinds would also post blinds as normal (so the big blind pays £2.25 that hand in blinds and antes, etc).

When action has already been on a player and they do a passive action such as a check or a call and then when action comes back to them again on the same betting round and they now make a raise.
