Why Oh Why Oh Why??

Is it just me, or are WE all (swear) idiots playing on this  site, how long are  Sky Poker going to  keep  taking  the (swear) out of us ....

It's not as if they  don't have the ability or know how in the technical  department,
so  'Why oh Why' is EVERY tournament on here 6 seaters, whats wrong  with  giving the players  a variety and putting some proper 10 seater tournaments  on ...

I'll  tell you  why, they want fast  games  fast  turnover, where the range of  hands  being played  are  much wider, enabling it to  be '****-shoot' poker, you only  have to  listen to  the analysts to  realise, with  their talk of,   'get it in' and 'shove'  ??

They   (The Company) are obviously not interested in putting on tournaments with  a structure that enables a decent  game, it's all geared for 'FAST TURNOVER' and has  been from the very start ..
and  don't be thinking 'deep stack' 6 seaters is good structure (jeez) ??.

Don't get me wrong I actually like fast games  sometimes, when  I don't have time for a long  session on the computer but if I want to play a proper 10 seater tournament for the  evening,  then I'm forced to play on other sites, who  give you the chance  to  play the same kind of  games that  are played in Casino structured tournaments  , 10  seaters !...

Two things  are happening here, either as I said,  the 'directors' of the company want to  keep things the way they are, enabling fast turnover, or they are being badly advised as to  what the customer really wants !!

You only have  to  see or know, the amount of  good players who over the last 18 months   have either left or don't play here much,  to  realise  Sky Poker have  got things wrong.
Oh they'll tell you, traffic is up, but it's not !!  The figures include 'bingo games' and 'Vegas games' ... You only have to look how the guaranteed tournaments  have been  reduced and  overlays keep  happening on their 8 00  TV games...

Ultimately in my mind it's either, greedy directors who  want fast games or bad  advice on what the customer wants   in the way of online poker..!!
And in my opinion the jury is  out on that one, I dont know !!

Ok  'mods'  quick  before the 'directors' reads this,  send this thread to  'area 51 or the 'bin'

    Benny,

    The "directors" probably don't monitor to the granularity you believe, and are as much interested in maintaining a happy customer base, than trying to manufacture tiny margins.  6 seater format over 10 seater format, bigger rake vs happier customers.  Sky, as a 100s of million ££ organisation, are probably infinitely more concerned with keeping you as a customer than anything else...

    Am sure Sky(poker) would welcome suggestions and would introduce 10 seaters and different structures  to keep their customers happy and people would play?

    Why not try via - community suggestions - and then moan if they don't implement? (Apologies if you have already tried this)

    Regards, Dan

    There are 10-seater slow structure tournaments on this site.
    The fields are generally quite small despite the tournaments being promoted regularly.

    When the majority of MTTs were changed to 10-seater, there was an enormous wave of complaint on this forum.

    The tournaments that you mention may have smaller numbers of players but the overall number of hands played on this site is increasing. The obvious conclusion from this would be that the majority of players prefer to play other types of games.

    So, basically, your argument seems to hold no water whatsoever.

    If u never have anything positive to say about Sky Poker or u don't like anything about it.........why don't u just go and play on a site that has 10 seater games and other things that u don't like here?????

    All these moaning threads are boring and ultimately repetitive!  It's like u look for an issue that's not there and decide it's gonna be ur weekly moan that we all have to read.

    It is a shame there are not more 10 seater games or even higher volumes of other sit n go games.  Other sites do have 10, 20 and 30 player 10 seater sng's that seem to rattle off and a fast rate, so there is always a game to play.  Most people on SKY seem to be playing tournament games. When you see that there are only 2000 people online and 700 are in just one tournament, you can se how the site and players are geared. I love the site and the tv programme, but I know where you are comming from, it is very frustrating playing here.

    I don't know why the volume of players is so much smaller than other sites. But on the other hand if there were 10000 players on line at any one time would it still feel like the sky poker we all know ??

    Tough one !!  I can't seem to win here, where as I can on other sites, but I like the chat, setup and Richard Orford  (lol)

    Hang in there

    I love 10 seater tournies and think we should have more of them. There are some 10 seater tournies on sky every night, The Orfordable (Wed, Frid, Sat & Sun 7pm) Tikay Sleepstack (Wed 7pm) 10 handed deepy etc, however, the fields are quite low and no gtd prize pool, but still great value.

    Perhaps sky could look into having an 8pm main event/tourny with this type of structure and guaranteed prize pool. I for one would definately give it my vote.

    After 7pm I don't see any 10 seater tournies, so again, perhaps sky could look at dropping a couple more in and see how they go.

    Not entirly sure I agree with how you have made your point Benny but I do agree with the 10 seater toury structure............They are Great.

    Obviously you didn't read the post  properly as in it I said there  are times when I enjoy quick tournaments because of the time that I might have available ,,
    As Trev points out, you try finding a 10 seater tournament  here after 7 00 or 8 00  ,,

    On another  point, had  I not had  a 'MOAN' as you call it, about the backlog of  points in the system of long standing players here, they wouldn't have had  a chance  of playing in the April Vegas 1100 game.
    I've had  messages here and in the PM thanking me for pushing that thread.

     Also,  if and when I need  you  to  tell me where to  play, I'll ask, someone  who knows what their talking about ..

    You give yourself FAR too much credit here. I suspect that the changes occurred despite your rants rather than because of them.

    I agree that 10 seater tournies are lacking - the sleepstack on Wednesdays gets decent runners and is enjoyed by all.  I also agree that something had to be done about the points backlog and a lot of people appreciated the chance to use some to try and get to vegas.

    However, my point - which I am certain is matched by many on this forum - is the way u do moan constantly (and if picky, in the wrong sections). Once an issue has been slightly resolved, u move onto another one.  Look at the number of responses to another 'moaning thread' by AJS about cash tables.......His is constructive and meaningful to many players who choose to play on this site.

    Ur post regarding ur birthday cake was ur first positive opening thread for a long time.  Happy birthday by the way.

    So's  not  to appear negative for  Vince and  Phil, my Idea would be,

    Three  10  seater Guaranteed tournaments in place of Bounty Hunters around the times of 8 30, 9 30  and  10 30 ...  blind levels could  be 10mins

     £10 +1 with 5  places paid ..example  if  only 30 runners turned up, Sky's profit would  still be £10

    130
     75
     56
     35
     24
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    £5 +.50p ..  5 places paid (same as above)
    65
    37
    28
    18
    12
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    £2.50 +.25p .. 5 places (same as above)

    33
    18
    14
      9
     6
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The above is based on 30 players guaranteed 5 places paid ...  now  after 7.30pm  and with  Guarantee of £200 , £100, and £50 I'm sure the turnout would be more  .........
    However I'm sure Vince and  Phil know better   :))
    Benny, ur now not reading my posts and I'm not getting into a playground spat with you.  I AGREED that the 10 seater tournies are enjoyed ( see sleepstack example).  This suggestion sounds good and is a constructive way to generate ideas and conversation rather than being a negative thread.
    On this note, I'm sure they fiddled with the format for the deepies a few months ago between 6 and 10 seaters and the overall response from the players was that the 6 seaters were much more popular - hence why Sky tend to stick with them in general.
    TBH i dont have any preferences between 6 and 10 seaters, however i do think that 10 seaters are not good if under 30 players are in the tourney, which happens a lot on here.
    i am with you loony, not bothered either way. i loved the ds format and 6 mnths ago very popular. the only problem i had and i am sure many do is the time they were finishing. even when they were starting at 7, it was normally between 11 and 12 they were finishing. working on average 60hrs a week , and starting at 6 am, i was starting to find it tiring. having ds starting at 8 onwards be it 6 or 10 seats would really start eating into by bobo time. dont get me wrong, a well structured ds with the right buyin and the right amount of players to me would be the holy grail on sky. phil
    Pods .. your right and the reasin was because the blinds levels  were to long ..
    "I mean seriously who wants a, "sleepystack" ?  ...with 15 or 20 min levels ..It hasn't  worked because it's  slow  and boring ...
    If  as I said,  10 seater, the levels at 10 mins with  a guarantee ( 5 places paid)  £200 for £10+1 or £50 for £2.50 +25p
    Here's the thing, it's  a winning  formula because it's  not going to be toooo  slow in the early stages but gives value for money, and a chance of cashing for all by  paying 5 from 30 ..
    why would you think that 6max deepstack tournys are a crapshoot compared to 10 seater ones? They are much better structured that the 10 seater ones or the tournys you would get at most local casinos. You get more hands per level. Or maybe you just don't like the greater skill needed for 6max
