Ale, Takeaways, and the rest is just piling up !  A more interesting question, well IMO anyway, is what percentage of your winnings do you spend, and what do you leave in to build your bankroll, and move up the levels to play higher stakes.... ?? IE If you had a br of £2k, and you are a cash game player at 50nl, playing to make money mainly... and you won a tournament worth £2k.....what do u do with it? Even a £300 br, playing 20nl cash, aiming to move up to 50nl, and u won a tourny for £250, what do u do with it? How r u ever gonna progress if you withdraw and spend all winnings? I guess it depends on how important poker is to you? (which goes back to the thread about why you play...)

i will withdraw any mtt winnings and enjoy it.  you build your roll playing cash, if you cant beat 50nl reg enough to build a roll to play 100nl then you shouldnt be playing 100nl.  no point in moving up to the next level if you cant crush the stakes you norm play.

i have a hobby of share dealing and have built up a nice little portfolio from my poker winnings...

whenever i win at live poker i do tend to spend it on whatever takes my eye at comet...

ahhhh cheers for the reply freechips....ur probably the perfect person to give me advice on bankroll and game/table selection, as while ive been with sky, Ive seen u play all levels, to nd up smashing 100nl....which is where I wanna be.....

How did u do it? money management wise? I probably have 50 buy ins for 100nl.....in my poker bankroll that Im willing to lose before I just say enough's enough!

I super tight with my BR - as I dont work....but the quality of player, or more importanly IMO, the quality of tables, between 50nl and 100nl before midnight is huge....

Im just a super wimp with bankroll, I dnt even play 50nl before 10pm - rather play 30/40 quid tables....

I obviously dont have enough confidence in my game as I thought I had....

Write a blog! or an instruction manual!!!! haha

money wise i had poor roll management if i had 1.5k i would take shots at 100nl so i would be playing 4x 50nl and 2x 100nl, its great and easy money if your running good.
as ajs said to you on another thread the hardest part to get ur head around is the ammount of money, losing £50 or if sat deep losing £90 wasnt a big deal (50nl).  when you lose your first £400 pot it is a bit sick, im unsure of your swings, when i play bad it can be upto -10 buyins but avrage is about -4/5, try not to go on tilt for a week when you have a bad session losing 5 buyin.
if you can take losing 4/500 in one night then have a go, you said about low confidence that will not help you, i would say take a shot one day when you feel good and r playing well.
as i told you befor i have now realised the massive swings you can have in poker, and its not just me a few players who r far beter than me hit bad runs also.

    Dohhhhhhh,

If you carnt beat the 50nl tables yet then you probably need to take it more seriously, you have been playing around these levels for a long time and either your taking too much out of your BR for living exs' or your not good enough!
I carnt believe your not good enough
I find it very easy playing live but on line it is much harder because I carnt get the same quality of reads which is where my expertise seems to lay.
Online I would say I generally make money at the 50nl without too much problem but the amount is not enough ie I may make £50 in 1 hour then make nothing for 2 hours or lose a little etc etc  but if i play more then two tables I lose my ability to read the tables and concentrate on the players. If I move up to the 100nl then sometimes i win sometimes I lose but thats not good enough so at the moment i concentrate Live as I am consistently making profit even when I have really quiet nights with very few hands to play I still generally make profit the reason for this is because i read books and watch anything and everything on playing poker.

I know you dont wanna hear this but also, I never drink n play, the other night when I came in from the Casino you were barely awake saying you were hemorrhaging money so perhaps if you try to tighten up those areas of your game then good things will happen.

I think you should take up Tikays offer of playing Live and get him to Napoleans in Leeds one night

I havent read the rest of ur post yet, but after a few tins, the opening paragraph has made my blood boil and I feel the need to say....

My overall poker bankroll.....in my "poker bank account" is like £15k, thats including £4k in 4 weeks last month at nl30-80......

    so I CAN beat 50nl....

    EDITED...

Yeh I cant play without a drink....but it works in stages, the first hour or 2, im avin a few beers, n it goes bad,.....

Next couple of hours, I consolidate and kinda sure things up, break even....

Rest of the night, Im flying...

Half hour before bedtime (i dnt no its bedtime till the last few mins of this half hour) - I spew left right and centre!!!!

Bt it all ends up at good profit for a 1/2 tabler...

Im pretty sensitive about ppl having ago at my game, I feel my record ad game speaks for itself, which makes it hard to take advice sometimes......but its much appreciated! - drink rly isnt the problem with my game, if anything I wish it wud give me the confidence I need to move to the level I shud be at.....

Poker has provided some treats for the family over the years. There have been lots of small items but the bigger items include:

2 x 24'x12' Stable Blocks (Courtesy of VC Poker).

1 x Thoroughbred Mare named Maddie (Courtesy of VC Poker).

1 x Omega Seamaster Chronograph (Courtesy of VC Poker).

1 x Titanium Longines Conquest (Courtesy of Poker Stars).

1 x Range Rover (Courtesy of Ladbrokes).

1 x Replacement Gearbox for Range Rover (Courtesy of Sky Poker).

The moral of the above is play poker but don't buy a Range Rover.

So just keep doing what your doing it looks like the TP event is paying dividends for you now.

I did send you a PM regarding the post straight away,
Its good that your blood boils it means your passionate about it, and as you can tell it is not a criticism, just an observation and i clearly stated I can't believe your not good enough, in fact having watched your play and having notes on you I find it hard to believe your not on the £100 tables but from the figures I would suggest you keep grinding away and spend as much time watching the 100 tables and making notes on all the players and with some good table selection you should move up the level.

Again if you read some of Mike Caros teachings he will help you a lot in understanding certain aspects of the game that I havnt got room to discuss here but trust me it really would be worth your while with regards to moving up the levels. I am expecting Harrington on Cash any day soon so that should be a good read.

Nice one Hal - I would be a nightmare to work with/coach, I always ask for advice, then snap at people who try to help me. Its a fine line with me Im too sensitive sometimes, but all I wanna do is improve, sorry if I sounded like an ungreatful tw@t!

Ive just seen your PM - will reply to it later.

Ur right when you said I need to figure out where I wanna go with poker. My game is based so much on instincts, I never have a game plan, and rarely play the same way twice.

Sometimes I wish I could play like these guys who have a solid game, and can 6 table cash and make a steady profit with a winning, tried and tested game.

I really do just 'wing it' - its hard work!!

Anyway Il go read the pm now, thanx for the advice! DOHH

No worries mate all the best,
As regards a tried and tested game I think the word is "flexible" if that makes sense.

Whenever my account hits a certain amount I withdraw some to help pay off the credit card. Other than that it sits in here

I only play small stakes STT/MTTs, but I'm very pleased to have built up to 6x what I deposited when I joined Sky in Nov. Half (so 3x my only deposit) has been withdrawn to help pay off credit card bills, the other half is sitting in my account. I'm too much of a coward to move up to higher buy-in tournies yet, I need to build my balance further before I'm ready, I'm working at it now.
