Haha curiosity killed the cat - and the DOHH !! I know exactly that feeling, although I wouldnt say I was like Negranu, Im miles better than him I play anything from 15/30p to 50/£1, ----- start low during the day and move up after midnight. Giz a shout when u get some money on. Posted by DOHHHHHHH
I wouldnt say im as good but its a similarity, was the only comparasion i could think of.
Ill maybe get some money on tomorrow once im a little refreshed and have a pop on 10/20p if £20 sufficient for that, and hopwefully move up throughout the day as you say.
Poker Shocker - J-K beats 2-2! Don, it's a flip - barely that, in fact. Pre-Flop, you were 48% v 52%. Take a little break, man, sometimes poker messes with our heads. Posted by Tikay10
It was more the way the hand played tikay, it was a bad example, i shoved on the flop he had nothing and hit a runner, i knew it was a race, wouldnt have minded a spike to a K of J, but to call an all in on a flop with K high was more what i was peeved at. lol.
Nothing wrong with taking a break m8. From what I have seen your tourny play is strong enough for you to do well over a period of time. But a run of bad beats does affect your game and playing without confidence is difficult. Personally I find that I play better after a few days off, and come back from working away with a clear mind. I would have no sympathy at all if you had backed USA !

Haha i missed the game aswell falling asleep during the Argentina second half. saw the score tho.
Thanks for the encouragement, i know i can play tournaments well, and at the stakes i do play theirs only a few players that really worry me (not played many of the main events so no came accross many of the bigger players often) but i know if i play my best on a good day i can cash in 3 of 4 tournaments, usually win one of the early doors one and won a couple of the latter night ones too. I think i sometimes ger a little over confident though aswell.
For example before i went on this bad run id won 5 live games in a row and a good few tournaments on here. I went on a bad run in MTT for a couple of days but i then had a 100% record for 2 days in DYMS but then that ended to and since then in think ive cash one in 3 DYMS which is nowhere near good enough and only tournament i cashed in was a refund, but i was sitting with 6000 chips to the average 2500 at that point.
On a side note done a scary with my last 30p and managed to win it. So went into a £1 got AA shove all in and some donk calls with J9 and flops trips.
I had a similar terrible run of luck in February, in just about every all-in situation where I was dominating my opponent he/she would hit their miracle cards, I just couldn't do anything right. Even if I was holding quads I would be resigned to the fact that somebody else would probably turn over a straight flush, thats how bad it was.
But bad luck can never last forever, I started playing less frequently and at lower buy-ins until my cards started to hold up and my jinx gradually came to an end. Then my luck corrected itself by going the other way, in May I was running red-hot and full of confidence, it ended up being my most profitable month ever.
Hang on in there Don, you'll be back to winning ways sooner or later.

Yea funnily enough May was my most profitable ever month online aswell, give me a shout when your on a hot one, ill come back then . My problem is like i said poker is my only income, bar signing on, so i cant really afford these bad runs unless i make 2 or 3 months worth in the good runs, which i didnt in May, mainly because i only played the last weeks worth.
To be completely fair my biggest problem is myself. When i have a bad day, i want to make it a good day, i challenge myself to win two tournaments for everyone i fail to cash in. Unfortunetly on a bad day that means im buyin to loads of tournaments. They are usually bounty hunters and i can take 2 or 3 bountys before i go bad, usually down to my sneakyness to pick on the idiot that went all in and lost and kept 200 chips back.
As i live off poker income, i usually do 8 - 12 hour sessions a day, which means inparticular this week im struggling to replace it. Its really all i know from when i get up till i go to be. I managed a 23 hour session once because a tournament just wouldnt end. I teand to find the more tired or the hungryer i am i do better i pick up on every little thing when im tired. Most of my useful notes on players have came from when ive been playing shattered. However i also make silly mistakes during these times aswell. My reads at this time are usually 80% correct, but as i said to DOHHHHH im that focused on knowing im right with a player i dont have a note on i call when i know im beat.
I know i can play strong tournament poker, but im still learning, ive only played around 600 online games and maybe another 200 live so im only now starting to understand betting patterns, position plays etc. However that is mostly down to the fact ive taught myself most of what i know, i learnt a little from watching my old man, but i didnt understand it. I must also note, i have a 90% record against him in games, hes only taken me out once when we both only had 1 and a half big blinds left or the last 3 players in a home fast structured game, i shoved on SB with KQ him being commited called we both had 12000 blinds 4000/8000 at this point only 72000 chips in play and the other guy who had folded had the rest of it. He shows 23 which he was blind and spiked a 3 and i missed. Fair enough, we had our giggles but i know i can outplay him 90% of the time.
Apart from that, im still learning the game. But i know know where my flaws are, if anything this bad run has helped me spot them so i thank it for that, i got over confident and believed i was playing near perfect poker, when to be fair i wasnt. I was making the odd bad call and getting "lucky" but i usually always knew where i stood. However now that i know where my weakness is i have full confidence of going away, playing a few live games during this week, maybe go up to Edinburgh to the Casinos and work on this and come back onto the site refreshed.
After that im going to start to learn to play in small limit cash games and work my way up through them. That way ill earn a little extra if i play my best, and that would allow me to play in the tournaments and recover from bad runs such as these easy enough.

It's NEVER fun and can make you seriously doubt yourself as well as your game.. Take a break from playing online and have a breather. But stay and play with us on the forum! I've got used to seeing your soppy face (Avatar) everywhere
Good luck.. It'll soon swing around again and in the mean time it looks like the Community are giving you some EXCELLENT advice.
Posting a message to the Poker Gods for you.. (with my mind obviously..I don't have an address or anything).

Thanks, i hope that message gets to them soon, playing a bounty hunter just now, but struggling, but thats usually when i play my best. i just need to make sure i get paid for a monstar within the next 30 - 40 hands and im kool
Hey Don, Ive tried this sort of thing in the past (helping micro stakes cash players), one time it worked, and the guy is now doing well, the other time, it went so bad, and not only did I fail to improve the guys poker, we also dont talk anymore. In the end, he ended up blaming me for his losses, as he couldn't grasp the theories and strategies I was trying to get across to him about micro stakes cash. I guess it depends on personalities, if we clash, it cud go wrong. I watch alot of poker, and if u want me to watch u play and give general observations then no problem. I said I wud do this with donkeyplop, but for one reason or another it hasn't happened yet. The problem is when I play myself, I can't explain alot of the things I do, I just do them coz it feels right. But obviously basics are basics, and if ur making big errors I cud point them out to you. When ur bak on ur feet I can watch ya, let me know. Posted by DOHHHHHHH
