Swansea - Just a little bit disappointing?

A huge thank you to all the staff that did so much at Swansea - especially Big Rich who ran some fun games as well as sit n gos. The usualy thanks to TK, Rich and Ed, and to all the background staff.
Having done the sycophantic bit, was anyone else just a tad disappointed at the Swansea event compared to the others this year? The 2 rooms was a blow, but there just didn't seem to be the feel that we had at the other events. There were no "all-in - call" moments until near the bubble, and once I was out (admittedly early on), it wasn't at all easy to rail the rest of the players. Some of my disapopointment also comes from people telling me how good Swansea was last year. Time for a new venue perhaps?
Anyway, here's hoping I see some of the faces at Nottingham in a couple of months.
And a genuine thank you once again to all concerned.

    i feel the same eyeman.. even though i play regular in aspers swansea.. the fact that they have chopped the poker room in 2... (the 2nd room is usually that noisy chines dominos thing??) they had enough complaint s about it at the time and lost a few regular players, but they still decided to do it!!

    i have never played there but i would suggest the new card room in cardiff bay called croups to be next years south wales venue!! aspers swansea can no longer host over 80++ tournies..

    i also missed the fun of tikay on the mic...last years swansea leg was much better than this year!!!

    I agree also. Was drawn in the little room and had to listen to Tikay's pre tourney chat as it took place in the main room. After busting, played the sngs in the side room and felt completely away from the ME.

    When I tried to rail the last few tables, it was near on impossible due to the closeness of all the tables.

    Absolutely NOTHING against the sky crew. Adam was able to chat with me for ages and I cannot say enough good things about Dave. He spent hours helping me and others with omaha and was a complete gent.  

    I do feel the 2 rooms did spoil the atmosphere though.  At least that won't happen at DTD!

    It was very hard to get anywhere near the final table, and the heads was with the players facing away from the room and so it was impossible to see chipstacks, action or anything.

    All this is fair comment and thank you for the feedback.

    We have to take these issues into consideration for planning future tours and likely venues.

    The "two rooms" point is a big one, not just for atmosphere but also because of how difficult it made logisitics around the final table.

    I had a great weekend in Wales and enjoyed the event and meeting many people I'm used to playing with each night.

    As you seem to be keen to have the feedback, I'll add a couple of points regarding the venue...

    (1) They didn't have enough screens showing the tourney info. There didn't appear to be one in the 2nd room? and only one facing the room in the main area. There was one near me (Table 1) but I was told it was broken. I think it's important to keep an eye on the average stack size.
    (2) The first dealer we had could have had more experience at hold'em. On several occasions she shipped the money to the wrong person (I don't think she knew the hand rankings) and she miss-dealed several times through missing out one seat where there was a no-show. And...

    Anyway, enough of the moaning - it was a great event and I hope to be able to qualify to DTD as soon as poss.

    totally agree with all of the above apart from Ivegotace the only place to go is Les Croupiers Cardiff its a 20 table dealer dealt card room away from the gaming room. the only problem is the food its not as bad as Swansea but its not good when there are 150 to 200 runners

    As always I had a great week-end, even though I was out by the first break.  Good to meet up with "old" friends and meet new faces.  The Sky team, as usual, did a superb job.  However, I must agree with much of what has been said by others in this thread.  Hope to make the next one!

    first experience of live play ever, and whilst a little overwhelmed and a lttle drunk, had a great time, albeit a shortish one in the main tourney.

    back to learn my trade online, but now i've had a taste i hope to get some more live action sooner rather than later.

    and good on the guy - big rich? running the fun games - my wife managed to get a 'result' that meant we didn't walk away with absolutely nothing.

    lighten up guys it was a great day and swansea is a top place to have some fun not just poker.the hotels were fantastic well the one i stayed at was.del

    Agreed that the main was a bit rubbish because of the split rooms, although when booked im sure it was actually still 1 room, and also a lack of commentary and "Abuse" from Tikay.

    The structure of the tournament could do with a look at as well I think, I understand the tournament needs to be completed in the 1 day, but why not start either 1 or 2 hours earlier and have more chips or add in a level or 2.

    The sit n go's were great fun, ended up doing an indian poker sit n go which was a great laugh, although it led to me buying a round that totaled £60!!!

    Great weekend overall just a pitty the main was a bit dull compared to others.

    i didnt play last years swansea so cant compare,but the only gripe i have with the tourny is the two rooms....the food was stone cold but it was free so cant complain....all the staff were brilliant as always with ed,rich,dave and sky rich working tirelessly on the sng's.i had a great time then went on the town with a few of the regs,got back at about 630am........

    Bring it to Walsall G Casino, i believe it is now one of the biggest poker rooms in the UK now its added more tables ???

     Impressed??  I tell you what i'm in the wrong job with my pole dancing skills. Still suffering from that night now 3 days later. We went to the beach after that and didnt get in till 8am, oops!

    this was more dissapointing than the two rooms i thought, the structure was bad, I know it's been the same for the other legs but I hadn't heard any complaints from other members so didn't know what it was like. the starting stack was so shallow and the blinds structure was so bad meaning it was a shove fest by the 3rd level because there weren't big enough stacks to play poker with.
