In Response to Re: Swansea - Just a little bit disappointing? : this was more dissapointing than the two rooms i thought, the structure was bad, I know it's been the same for the other legs but I hadn't heard any complaints from other members so didn't know what it was like. the starting stack was so shallow and the blinds structure was so bad meaning it was a shove fest by the 3rd level because there weren't big enough stacks to play poker with.

The structure has to take 150 players to a winner, with breaks, in time for a conclusion around midnight on the same day, with a 2pm start

    It does this.

It could have an extra early level (75-150) or a slightly larger stack/longer clock leading to a later finish (might well do so if the Tour is being run in 2010-11) but as is it's designed to achieve what I was asked to achieve.

I understand you have to get it done within one day. My main gripe about the day was after the first 2 levels there wasn't much play left with the blinds and stacks. hopefully this gets looked at for next year

Then the problem is not with the structure, it is the time constraints that you have been given. Is there no scope for starting an hour or two earlier to incorporate the suggested levels for next year's SPT (should there be one?).

    Hi All.

To address the comments which, in the main, are all of a muchness.

    1) Two Rooms.

Ugh ugh ugh. As some of you know, both Rich & I had "something to say" about this. We wouldf NEVER have gone there if we'd known. It was 1 room the previous year, but some locals tipped us off about the "wall". So we sought clarification, & let's just say, there was some "confusion" as to how they responded. We went there under the illusion that the "partition" (lol!) between the 2 Rooms would be removed for the day.

We had a meeting on Monday to review the Swansea Event. Being diplomatic, all I can say is that we will never again go to a Venue where we are forced into 2 seperate rooms.

We plan to go take a look at Les Croupiers in Cardiff soon. More news when I get it ;)

    2) Commentary, lack of "abuse" etc.

I'm sorry - I was gutted. I was aching to do the usual "abuse", the "all-in & a call" stuff with added spice. But it just does not work when the players are split into 2 rooms. When it broke to 1 room, the tables were so close together, I could not easily navigate between them at speed, even with the newly reduced waistline. I was not in great form personally, either, as a result of some bad personal stuff going down elsewhere at the time. No excuses though, you got me bang to rights, it was not up to the, or my, usual standard.

    3) Structure.

It's quite hard to explain this, but the brief is quite clear. Start at the earliest practical time (2pm in our view), & finish around Midnight. Within those constraints, cut it any way you like, but the structure can't be improved.

That apart, though, it WAS a good day, just, perhaps, not quite as good as usual, or as I'd have wished. The Side Games next door, especially the Tighty SNG's - he's a proper Legend - were awesomely good, & I know from the noise coming from those Tables how much fun everyone had. We actually even had to fight the Mangement to get the Chips for the Side Games!

Anyways, a big thank you to everyone who attended. Next time, it'll be that little bit better.

    xx

Sounds like a good excuse for a reason to go and play some poker courtesy of Sky, I mean have a jolly, I mean go on a reconnaissance mission.

Side games are the BEST thing about the SPT.  Except maybe cashing but 135 people aren't likely to be doing that.  I had as much fun at Luton as I did at Swansea and never played the main event at Luton.

I remember you having your 'discussion' with the Management.  After, as you passed by my table your face said it all, lol.

Lol, I am obsessed with Customer Care, & "Excellence", & when peeps fail, & get lippy with me, I can't help myself. So that poor lad who was "in charge" (wtf?) of the Room got a bit sarcy with me, as to why we could not have any more chips, he got both barrels, & some.

If the SPT comes back to my neck of the woods in Manchester for Season 3 (if there is another season of course!) and i hope it does then just to let you all know that if those who did SPT Glasgow and stayed in a certain "5 star" hotel well you have your chance to relive those happy memories as there is an Etap Hotel that has been open for just under a year i'm led to believe in nearby Salford Quays which is about a 15 minute drive from G Casino who staged Leg 1 of this year's SPT. :)

    That is all!.......

Didnt make Swansea, but this was definitely what I missed at Luton. And I fail to see how those beautiful legs of yours cant navigate between a few tables ;-)
