    is there a certain amount of levels that will be played on day 1 or will it be played down to a certain amount of players?

    Curious as to why this structure couldn't of been used in previous spt's through the year but is for this one?

    Then why couldn't they make the other spt's 2 day events? Most people stayed till the sunday anyway

    Hi Swans
    As i see it, the main reason is cost.
    Most people would have to stay in a hotel for a second night or face a long travel back home, from some of the venues.
    Also the cost of the venues, to Sky Poker.
    I can and have played most of the venues in the Spt(except Swansea for various reasons), but i would not wish to waste my holiday entitlement on travelling back from an event. Before you question why i am play the final then, i am on holiday for the week after the tourney. Plus the cost of stopping a second night would run to about £100(hotel, drink, food)any other tourney costs.
    A lot of players, who are knocked out on day1, stick around for the day2 and will play sit n gos, then play the Sunday night tourney.

    I for one think the SPT final should remain as the only 2 day(grown up) event, but i would also like to see, for next year,(if it goes ahead), the structure change to allow a bit more play in the earlier stages.
    I say this as i believe it was a bit like a turbo tourney in the early stages and then slowed down. Ithink you could remove levels from the middle of the tourney, to achieve the same desired finishing time, but give all players the value of lasting longer than this year.

    Not sure if im right here, but if the tourny fills, will that make it £40,000 ? and if it does fill how many places get paid from 200 runners ?

    :)

    Hi Gavin,
    Yes, every £200 fee goes into the prize pool. The guarantee is £25k, so if only 100 players turn up that is paid out, but if the £25k figure is not reached Sky will look into whether they can sustain the tourney or move it to a quieter time of the year, although when they originally put it on the calendar that weekend was clear(not the case now). Last year the final prize pool was about £56,000 and i think the top 10% get paid.

    You have to look at it from a buisness perspective, if Sky Poker made the guarantee £40k(with the cap at 200 players) and only 100 players attend, that would be £15k overlay(not good), so the guarantee is at a level they know can and will be reached and if more turn up then it is added value to the tourney.

    I know the min number of players will be reached and with 5 weeks to go the prize pool will be bigger than £25k.

    As Col said, I believe its about 10%. Last year we had 250max, and we were over filled so actually had alternates and ended with over that figure if I am correct?? My prediction is it will be about 3-4 hours into Day2 before the bubble bursts.
    From memory top prize was 17k, so worth winning

    I've bitten the bullet and spent most of my work bonus money to enter this as my first live SPT event and am looking to enjoy the experience without any expectation of how well or badly I do!! I'm pretty comfortable playing live with my friends and managing chips, but I am curious to know how the 10,000 will be represented as a stack of chips (looking at the ante - up to level 8 before a change?). Can anyone advise so I can get some practice in, albeit quicker clock, for the next poker evening I organise. I am guessing perhaps:
    20x25 = 500
    40x100 = 4000
    11x500 = 5500
    Thanks

    Hi

    If can remember from last year, i think there was a 5000 chip, a couple of 1000 chips, a few 500 chips then the rest made up of 100s, 50, 25s.

    Thanks Col. If that's the case, what is the etiquette for asking if I could break the 5000 into smaller denominations......at least for the first hour. :-)  I guess having fewer chips on the table encourages people to bet bigger and knock people out quicker....

    A 10,000 start stack normally consists of;

    4 x 25
    4 x 100
    5 x 500
    7 x 1000

    Mix and match depending on how many chips the club has of each denomination
