Raise, give 20% (of the £1,000) to charity, morale balance is restored.
At the end of the day, if you have a better connection than your opponent, why should you lose the advantage and possibly let them actually end up beating you? If you raise and win their blinds and they return to the table, come back and beat you - fair enough, they played well and deserve it, at least you won't be kicking yourself that you've cost yourself a GRAND by folding against an opponent when they're not even there.
It's not even if the other player isn't winning anything, he's still winning at least £2K! (and the majority of that should go on buying a better computer of laptop so it never happens again in such a vital situation).
If it was the other way round I wouldn't expect my opponent to fold, I'd actually feel bad if they had been folding and I went on to beat him.
I find the results of this poll so far very disappointing.
Phil has already shown the right thing to do in this situation and I would not have expected a guy of his class to do anything different.
I would have no interest in winning a tournament by simply having a better connection than my heads up opponent. The fact that there are people railing has no bearing whatsoever.
In the example quoted I would already have won a couple of grand, and I would not lose my self respect by trying to steal that little bit more.
Yesterday I went to my local newsagent to buy cigarettes and a paper. I am a regular in there. The young girl behind the counter gave me £10 too much change. I bet there are many of you who have voted in the majority here who would have put the tenner in their pocket without saying a word.
i wouldnt steal dohhhhhhh's blinds in this situation just because i know he would steal mine, or anyone elses.
The amount of money at stake is irrelevant. 1k difference isnt life changing, its just money.
stealing blinds here is rather like scoring an open goal in football when the goalkeeper is injured and the referee has not blown his whistle.
It could be a perfectly good goal, but would it feel right? No, do a DI Canio imo, catch the ball. Be the sportsman.
I have been HU in mtts a couple of times, and reconnected, and found my opponant didnt steal, and it was a brilliant feeling, i was so grateful. I have also had the opposite happen and it feels bad.

Happened a couple of times to me at the end of tourneys, and I can't bring myself to blind an opponent out.
Having said that, I wouldn't wait forever- 5-10 minutes to allow a standard disconnect, and if it becomes apparent they're not fixing it anytime soon, I'd start taking the blinds.
Happened to me once in a HU SnG. Table loads but the oppo is away. So I sit out and after ten minutes or so the oppo connects. They didnot say thank you or even acknowledge what I had done. That well tilted me.
lol the hu sng thing.....played 100 of them over a weekend a couple of weeks ago.
Massive bonus when the guy aint there, was down to 300 chips, comes back, obv tilted and annoyed, shoves with any 2, I happen to have a hand, win the game, offer a re-match and he accepted x 3 !!!!
Loooooool his table obviously was taking 5 mins to load, give me 1.7k v 300 chips in a HU game everytime, I fancy my chances!!
Wait 10 mins, if no reconnection, contact sky by phone/customer chat. If they can't get hold of villain, I give another courtesy 10 minutes for villain to resolve connection, then I take the blinds and win. Post tournament I try and broker a deal with villain (20-30% of difference between 2nd and 1st).
I would get an e-mail into sky through the forum asking them to freeze the tournament until the guy can re connect. Not sure if this is possible but it would probably result in the fairest solution. No danger of blinds overtaking both players then
I would not want to win by this method... but then I don't play Poker for the money, I play it for the Game. I do appreciate that many people do play Poker for the money and can understanding the "steal the blinds" attitude

I realise If this ever happens to me I have no chance, and the chatbox will be cheering, singing dancing and high 5-ing!
With my internet connection being probably the worst on sky poker, it probably wasn't wise me starting this.
Thats why I don't even bother getting heads up anymore.
QUESTION ? H/U IN A LIVE TOURNEY . 1 PLAYER IS IN THE REST ROOM AS HE IS ILL . WHAT DOES THE RULE BOOK SAY ?
