edited December 2010 in The Sky Poker Tour

The satellite programme for the Newcastle leg of the Sky Poker Tour will commence today, & should start appearing in the lobby shortly after midday.

I expect these seats to go pretty fast, & you gotta to be in it to win it.

All Members of Team Sky Poker will be invited to attend, as well as 1 or 2 from Channel 865, & a few Celebs.

The date of the Event will be Saturday January 8th.

Good luck!

Just to let you know the satelllites will be going up today, but there's been a slight delay on getting them on the site. I'd offer you a very sophisticated set of reasons, but let's just say it is FLAT OUT in the office today. I'm hoping we'll see them online around 3-4pm.

Please do bear with us and good luck to all those who are going to try qualifying for the SPT Newcastle.

    Thanks folks,

    Hi all,

The SPT Satellites are now up and running in the lobby, with the first one due to kick off in just under an hour.

Register here (opens in an external window hopefully!)

Once again, good luck and hope to see as many of you as possible up in Newcastle in the New Year!

Had been enjoying trying to qualify for Newcastle (as frustrating as trying to qualify gets!!) until tonight.  Had a good sat at 7.30 to win a seat into the 9.30 semi all was well.  Then I started on a table with 3 players from the Newcastle area (plus their posse!!) who have obviously joined sky to qualify for this event as they didnt have much nice to say about sky players and there was obvious collusion going on.  I commented on the fact and it was not denied and I was told it was just a bit of fun and accused of being in a strop as they werent chip dumping to me etc.

I was even told  and I quote "we all are mates of tikay so ya cant shop us"  lol

I have saved part of the chat as I didnt get the table number but wasnt a pleasant experience!!!

I'm not sure I can be bothered to be honest Dylan as it wont stop them plus they will know it is me thats reported them which wont bode well when we get to Newcastle will it.  1 did qualify last night but 2 didnt and I am sure they will try again as I have seen them try before.  I am sure some of the group will have already qualified and there are plenty that will be around railing others of their group.  Has put me off trying now as they will remember my name and gun for me again.  Maybe I will feel differently in a few days we will see.

they were not even subtle about it !!!!
one of the main players had already qualied this matter must be looked into

I can assure you that all that was said was v much said in jest (esp the Tikay quote) as we are just a group of friends who play/chat together regularly in Newcastle and enjoy ribbing each other as much as anything else.

I did miss your actual comments on chip dumping and collusion but saw some of the responses which were v much tounge in cheek in response to your "allegations".

Come and visit us at www.newcastlepoker.com and you will see we are a freindly lot as I'm sure anyone that has played the SPT in Newcastle before will agree and if you do make the trip I and I'm sure anyone else you feel offended you will buy a drink you certainly wont be "gunned" for.

    Gl in the satelittes.

    Good Morning.

I have received a number of PM's about this SPT Semi-Final, & I will be forwarding them all to Head Office in the next few minutes.

A record of the chat log of every Tournament is held in the database, so whatever was said by whom is on record.

For now, I hope this debate is not continued in public, as it will serve no good purpose.

I can assure everyone, however, that the matter WILL be thoroughly investigated.

As to comments about myself in the chatbox, "we are all mates with tikay", it' true I know most of the Newcastle lads from playing up there over many years, from another forum, from APAT, & via Sky Poker.  I've never been anything except supportive of the Newcastle scene, but the suggestion I'd show them, or anyone else, any favours is reprehensible & regrettable. My name gets smeared daily, & it hacks me off no end, but it is what it is, I can't stop people saying things. My actions towards all matters have always been transparent & wholly honest, & it's a shame such a ridiculous suggestion to the contrary was made.

Oddly enough, I had planned to engage with the Newcastle Poker Forum today in relation to the Newcastle Leg. Not sure where I go from here, to be honest, as whatever I do will be viewed with suspicion by some. It's truly bizarre that I have spent a lifetime being OCD about honesty, & yet people still freely smear my name. I cannot tell you how much that annoys me.

I hope the Thread is now closed, & the investigation can be completed properly & quickly. I really don't know how or why these things get on forums - it serves no good purpose. A PM to me, or contact with Customer Care, is MUCH the best & quickest way to solve it.

I did not for one second believe that because they knew you tikay it would make it OK and knew that you would not be happy with the suggestion of such.

I put this matter on the forum as like I mentioned I wasnt going to report it for fear of being gunned for in further satellites or even at newcastle itself should I qualify but wanted it out there about this group of people.  I have not named any of them purposely as it is a public forum.

There is more that could be said but I will take your advise and leave it there.

    Sian,

This whole thread has been cut & pasted onto the Newcastle Poker Forum, & is being eagerly debated, which is why I suggested it be better handled quietly, & not via Forums.

It WILL be handled properly, & you will have no recriminations to fear, I promise.

The Newcastle boys are - & I'm fearful of being accused of "mateyness" here - good lads, on the whole, & they just like to enjoy their poker, & play with gusto. Aside from one or two alcohol related issues - "Geordie lads like a drink shocker" - they are as good as gold, & you could not wish to meet a better bunch of lads. You have NOTHNG to worry about, in fact I'm pretty sure they will make a fuss of you. They like young ladies, too. ;)

This thread, the NPF thread, & the various PM's I had about the matter this morning, have all been sent up to Sky Poker's Head Office, & they will do whatever they see fit. If - IF - anything improper took place, then Sky Poker will do the necessary.

You need to trust us, & me, on this. You will enjoy SPT Newcastle, so will the Newcastle boys who have qualified.

In fact, I'll sponsor a "private" SNG at Newcastle. Your Team, (you can select any 5, including yourself) v a NPF Selected 5. I'll donate the Prize Money - £100 - personally.

We all need to put this to bed, to avoid bad blood at the event, hence my offer.

If anything untoward has gone off, we must trust Sky Poker to handle it properly, & discretely.

Feel free to PM me if you have any further concerns. I have sent an e-Mail to the big cheese at NPF this morning so as to help resolve all this forum noise quickly, but they have yet to reply to me. My e-Mail to them does NOT relate to the allegation of impropriety, I'm just trying to help put it all to bed.

Hello everyone and especially those concerned with events posted here,

I am Dave collins/ Teamdobb/ Deeiron on Sky Poker and was at the centre of last night and most of the comments last night.

I actually run Newcastle Poker Forum with my son Scott and anyone that knows us can vouch for what we put back into Poker especially local  poker. We play poker to enjoy it and last night was a perfect example of the light hearted banter that is continually featured in local games and especially games organised by the NPF which are very much player participation events. Highly regarded people behind the scenes here at SkyPoker I have no doubt will vouch for the involvement we put into events and the atmosphere and input we put into them.

Now this does NOT give me or any of our members the right to openly abuse or attack other players at tables which no one at NPF would do but players must also realise the difference between light hearted banter and direct attacks. If I had realised certain parties were so touchy I would of probably taken a different line but they must also realise they face in "REAL LIVE" games far worse than what we were joking on about. Throughout the satellites I have been involved in the chat box at various tables supporting NPF members and as such proves we actually care about poker and this tour

Accusations were made about certain Newcastle players chip dumping because we were joking on with each other and that was like a red rag to a bull with us so we simply carried on with alot of wind up PATTER. Simple as that and nothing else. Using the name of Tikay in hindsight was out of order but in no way any harm was meant as Tony is actually a very well respected and liked member of the NPF and Im sure, as he has already done will speak highly of how we approach poker and how we play the game in the right spirit at NPF

The members of the NPF have put alot of time and effort into the Sky Poker Tour and we have also promoted it free of charge at our site in order to make the Newcastle leg as enjoyable as possible for all concerned and to show any visitirs that make the journey up how enjoyable playing poker in Newcastle and Aspers can be. Anyone that comes will be assured of a warm welcome and light hearted banter so come on guys & gals chill out and stop making such a simple game so complicated and learn to enjoy it. I think Tikays offer of a sit & go between certain Sky members and the NPF is brilliant and adds a little bit extar to an already great event to play in.

If I have offended anyone by my light hearted chat box banter then i apologise but in now way was it intenetd as direct abuse or anything else but CRACK. I also openly invite any investigation into caht log and hand historys as we play the game afir although at times for some a little bit too hard

For those that wondered why I actually played last night after already having a seat then the reasons are simple:

1: I had been knocked out of our NPF league game on Poker Stars and wanted to play something else. I had £29 in my Sky poker account and as such played the Tour Semi as I knew there would be some banter on the tables and it wouldnt simply be a boring MTT or SNG online game. I would also point out that SEVERAL Sky Forum members play several of these as well and have cashed out in many winning seat positions. I do not think there is anything in the rules that prevent you from doing this although etiquette wise then maybe the weaker or less fortunate players may complain.

2: I was also under the impression that if I was succesful in winning another seat then I would be able to carry this over to another leg of the tour and was told this information was posted at another well known UK Poker forum. As such I played hoping to win another seat to carry over for the Leeds leg of the tour.

I hope I have cleared matters up and people dont spoil what will be a great event in Newcastle as i guarantee you all 100% that everyone that attends will be made to feel welcome from the hospitable people of Newcastle Upon Tyne and especially the Newcastle Poker Forum members.

    Hi Aussie,

That is not  question for the Mods, it is for Customer Care.

I can tell you that to the best of my knowledge, there is no formal agreement that Seats can be carried over to another Leg if 2 or more Seats are won by an individual, & although I've been involved in every SPT & SPUKT Event, I don't recall it ever happening. In fact, I'd be pretty sure the Rules say it is not permissable.

I would imagine, howerver, that Sky Poker would try to be sensible about it, & look after their players as best as circumstances would permit, &, perhaps, make exceptions from time to time.

In addition to my earlier Posts.....

I have spoken to the owner of the NPF Forum now, & asked if he might use his influence to stop any further public flaming.

I think we here should do the same, too, & move on.

If anyone has any further concerns which they believe are not being properly addressed, they should contact Customer Care directly, or myself via PM.

I am not personally aware of a single instance where this has happened, Aussie.

That's not to say it has not, but I'm surprised I was not aware of it if it had.

"SPT" (Rich Prew, aka Tighty) is the Tour Manager, & I sort of look after the other end, reporting to Rich Milner & Jack Wilcox, so I would normally have been aware of such instances. Perhaps I missed them.

What is certain, is that the player in question genuinely thought that an automatic right of transfer/cashout existed. It does not.
