offshoot makes a great point. I get 9 tables (laggy) on my 19inch monitor. However on my 32inch telle i can only get 3 tables at most Posted by The_Don90
televisions no matter how big are rubbish for use with computers. My 37" wide screen samsung is worse than a 17" laptop screen for table space and resolution.
you need a monitor as opposed to a tv.
I bought one of these because they were on discount so I think less than 200...

I do need a new monitor this one plays up alot hense the use of the tv from time to time. Also i need cheap.
As most know, I don't know anything about technology. I was gonna get a new lappy, but when I saw desktops were the same price, I thought why not. Found the one below, which is 20 inch monitor instead of 15 for a lappy, so it shud allow me to 6 table? What do people think? is it any good? - Are there better out there? Appreciate any advice, cheerz. (mods don't move till tonight plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz it's kinda about poke her.) http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pavilion-slimline-s5615uk-m-07677366-pdt.html Posted by DOHHHHHHH
That PC is pretty bad, don't buy it. Basic dual core processor, 3Gb of Memory, 500GB hard drive and a shocking monitor... it doesn't have much going for it.
Taking a quick look if you don't mind waiting for delivery them THIS is a pretty nice machine for £499.
If you end up buying a PC that comes without monitor then THIS is a nice monitor for £168. With a 1920 x 1080 monitor you can arrange windows like I posted HERE.
If you just want to walk into PC World then I'd say look for this:
Triple or Quad Core 4Gb of memory 1TB hard drive although 500GB is fine. Monitor should be 22" or bigger and MUST be 1920 x 1080
Definitely get a desktop over a laptop (unless you really need to be able to move about with you're computer), you'll get much better value. Equally, self build is cheaper and you can spec it up without too much investment. If you're budget extends to be able to get a second monitor, then I'd say get one, I use dual monitors and very little would tempt me back to a single display. Tis very functional, and although I don't multi-table, I would see that being a great advantage.

My only concern with that machine would be the PSU, 300w is pretty low IMO. Depends though I guess on what you're gonna be running (I doubt you'll be overclocking it).
I've self built all my PC's, but if you're looking for reliable pre/custom built system, my brother swears by http://www.alienware.co.uk/. I know he got a pretty well spec'd system from them a few years ago, and it's still pretty good even by current standards.

True, but it's just got a single hard drive, no separate graphics card and I can't see DOHHHHHHH going down the expansion route or overclocking it any time soon! So as a poker workstation it would be fine.

N1 DOHHHHHHH, the problem with PC buying is there are so many options, you could look for weeks and weeks to find the right one only for a new option to be offered! I don't think you'll be disappointed with your choice.

It's a perfectly decent machine but you're just getting a dual core when you could get a quad core for slightly cheaper as I posted aboveHERE.
EDIT: I would also suggest you pay the extra £20 to get a basic 512MB NVIDIA graphics card and don't forget to add mouse and keyboard as I don't think they are included as standard!
