If you've got any security setup on your wireless router (which you should have) then you will need the WAP or WEP security password to connect to the router.

Could be a firewall stopping the connection if there is one installed.

Well, I went thru all the boxes and found an antenna thing, which I plugged into the back of the computer.

This found 4 other networks, and the signal was full....

I also found a long thin strip thing, looks abit like a belt?

    wtf is this???

The instructions are telling me to install a card or something???? I have no idea what to do....

Think I might have messed this up. ffs if they'd asked me for more money to do this for me I'd have gladly paid them !!!!!

The antenna screws into the back of your network card. If it's picking up networks then you know it's working correctly so it must be something that needs setting up to connect to your network.

As for the strap, has it got a clip at the end ? If so it's probably an anti static wrist strap. Before working on anything inside your pc you need to get rid of any static in your body, so either touch something metal first. Or you can wear one of these straps on your wrist, just clip the other end onto the metal casing. Other than that it will be for the monitor to be strapped down to stop it falling over.

No I can't see one nutter. Tiscali is appearing on the list of available networks, it only has 2/5 signal bars, but it's there now at least, but it wont flippin connect. So tilting. Ive been onto them, and look......I like asian people, they're lovely people, cook amazing food, and even deliver it to my door. I'm sure they're excellent with technology, well trained, intelligent, and good at cricket.... But I just canny understand what they're trying to tell me!! Factor in, that even if they spoke better english than Geoffery Boycott, I still wouldn't have a clue what they meant..... And the result is I don't stand a chance.

What is this elusive network card??? Is it inside my machine?

I screwed the antenna into the back of the comp, which automatically picked up all the networks..........

I can't "see" a network card though, it must be inside? unless they've forgotten to send me it

Could it be that your router is different to your new wireless adapter?

I know the routers have letters after them like g and n.

    Maybe they are incompatible?

If you've screwed it into the back of the pc and it's picking up networks then the card is installed. That's what you've screwed it into and is why it's picking up networks.
