Just reading something by Mod_kiwini and i noticed something the other day by JockBMW but it was now Mod_JockBM Have i missed thread that players are turning into moderators or somethin? MP I,d give it a crack for a small fee Posted by MP33
Coming from a local government back ground and the massive changes we are currently facing, this looks suspiciously like back door privatisation. If this takes off, will the sky mods be replaced by forum volunteers? Watch this space.... Mac Posted by Macacan
Hi Mac,
No that will not happen.
The Forum Mods are there as an addition to the Sky Mods. As you can imagine Moderation of a forum this size is a time consuming job and as all of the moderators, Sky ones included, have additional responsibilities it was thought that a few extra hands would be of use.
Hope that put your mind at rest with regard to your point.
like traffic wardens do you have minimum operational targets to meet? e.g. edit 1 in 10 threads, be witty in no more than three posts a month, or ban at least one person a day? and do you give cautions and warnings or do you just stop contributors mid-senten

How long have u guys been mods then?? like the idea, but I think you guys should definitely be allowed to approve pics. Which mod has deleted/edited most of my posts in the past then????? Posted by DOHHHHHHH
I've been a Mod for around 3 months prior to the "Coming Out"
It was initially Sky Rich that asked me to help out. I think there were 3 or 4 of the other Mods that were already there before I joined.
I have never deleted any of your Post Dohhhhhh, Not been quick enough ;o)
last week 1 ove the new sky mods tried to get a thread ended set up by hursto5 and was told it will continue,so lets say that happens again will that mod have his way and end a thread that the most ove the ppl wanted to carry on?del

Hi Dohhhhhhh, I think I'm probably one of, if not the most recent mod. Much like MOD_JockBM (btw that makes no sense your name JockBM !?) I too was asked by Sky_Rich if I'd like to help out on the forums and as I'm on most nights thought it couldn't do any harm. sigh.
I too would have liked the ability to approve pics, but "external mods" don't have that facility. Shame, as I know one of the main gripes on the forum is slow pic approval time.
Haven't had a chance to moderate you yet, although if you keep posting Technical Help threads I might be tempted. ;-)

I hope they don't start setting unobtainable targets for us. I made 2 funnies back in December but have yet to reach those heady heights again.

which mod moved my post yestaday which was a perfect legit post about a new tourney idea Posted by scrumdown
Hi DELTA, scrumdown,
I think both of these questions are about similar issues - Interpretation of the posting guidelines. At the moment there is a set of guidelines Sky_Dave posted here that sums them up. Now even I as a mod don't think they are perfect but they are what Sky want everyone to try and adhere to.
Personally, if I see something on the forums that is blatantly out of place, e.g. Someone starting a "What would win in a fight between a pot bellied pig and a ostrich" thread in General Poker Chat then it wouldn't take much thought for me to move it into The Shed.
However, if I see something I'm unsure of, then I'll just leave it alone and either do nothing, letting someone else pick it up or email the other mods so someone more knowledgeable can act on it. I'm under no obligation to do anything and if I was then I wouldn't have accepted the role.
Taking your thread scrumdown, I completely understand that you posted it in GPC as that's where it would get most exposure. Now was your post a Community Suggestion or a General Poker based question? Tricky one eh?
Hopefully over the coming days, weeks, months this will become clearer and the forums will be a great place to post again.

Personally I am more like a football referee, hopefully I will be issuing more cautions than red cards
ok thx. but i asked in a round about way would that said person have the rite to cancel the thread because he or she is fedup with it,if so why is that ?it is a forum to say and do what you want within the guide lines, not a place for the said person to stick up for a member ove the sky setup, who i might add more or less said at the time that it was wrong or he or she was misunderstood.del
In Response to Re: Whats with the Mod names? : Personally I am more like a football referee, hopefully I will be issuing more cautions than red cards Posted by Mod_Kiwini
