thats y god gave women small feet ,so they could stand closer 2 the kitchen sink, personally i think they shud av a womens only tourny, cause lets face it none of them r any good...............oh my god what have i started, awaiting backlash lol Posted by TENOFSPADE
I have yet to see any woman, both in poker, at home or work, who feels the least intimidated by any man whatsoever. In poker terms they might use it to their advantage, and most do.
That whole concept is simply outdated, and doesn't reflect the way woman are today. At least the ones I know.
If anything the only reason they want to have a woman only tourney is to have a night out with the gals without blokes chatting them up or dribbling over them.
And let's face it, if you had a men only tourny there would be outrage, so why should women get a woman only tourney? Ridiculous. For the bloke that entered and won it, well I'm pmsl over it, thought it was fantastic of him to make the point and overcome such odds to win it.
I'm sorry, but I don't buy the argument that "there should be a men-only event if there's a women-only event."
I've never met a bloke who didn't feel comfortable playing in a poker tournament because there were female entrants, but I know plenty of women (many of whom are regular on-line / home game players) who find the UK casino scene intimidating and LOVE the idea of a "girls only game."
Ladies' events are not for the Jennifer Harmans and Annie Dukes of this world. They're designed to attract players who would otherwise NEVER sit down at the poker table. Yes, the concept appears outdated and patronising, but if it's bringing NEW players into the live game, surely it can't be a bad thing?

Your right on that score James, More women playing Live events ....I could come out of retirement if that was to happen ...... One point though, I think that women ARE intimidated these days from playing Live tournament poker in the casino's because of the way some get treated On-Line. Many times ive been at a table when the abuse starts, and is directed at the Lady players ..sure in the main it's idiots who themselves have never played a live casino game, but put yourself in a lady's position and you cant blame them for thinking that is the way of it in casino's !!
I can remember playing Luton Grosvenor Casino through the 'nineties' on a Friday and Sunday when maybe a quarter of the field were women, and very good players. I truly believe women don't go to the Casino game these days unless they are accompanied by a male escort because of the 'yob' culture and gobby play that has become the 'Norm' over these last few years .
You cant blame the casino's, I believe On-line poker rooms should look at themselves for allowing the game to have changed in the way women get abused verbally on-line , as to one of the reasons why they think it's not a nice environment to play poker in a casino .. glk benny
My other half (eliniki22) has just satellited in from a field of 345 (top 9 get through) to the super sat (top 10 from field of 218) for the EPT London Ladies Event. So James we may well get 1st hand experience!
Grim just proves the point, his stunner of a girlfriend needs no ladies only events. It's all just a pair of cards. Anything else of making it other than a equal opportunity event for both sexes is a joke.

Cheers Benny now she just has to do the business Sunday night in the Super sat at 8pm, then its a stay in the Hilton (not sure I can go too though!?!?! )
Draig - cheers she is hot lol I am positive that puts ppl off when playing live as well. So not sure the women's only event will help this edge! Unless of course.... wink wink, batting on the same side... say no more.... Dave

Very well done Alana, hoping for updates on here, get the thing won, you know you can do it GOOD LUCK.
Probably not until the new year. The next EPT will take me to London's glamorous Edgware Road! Then, there's a break until January...when I get to spend 10 days in the Bahamas. It's a tough job. Honestly.
