In Response to Re: Friday 6th May, SPT Leeds Weekend : There is only 1 tournament to play on the Friday - the £15 freezout which is their regular Fri game, they have decided not to run the £50 game. Should make your decision easier ) Posted by Yorkie74
thanks Sian ..got a bit confused there must be the sun - see you in Leeds
In Response to Re: Friday 6th May, SPT Leeds Weekend : Not really, I suggested they run both the 15 and 50 as two different tournaments as I totally agree with you that there are enough Sky tour regulars wanting a 50 quid game! I think they are concious that if they did run a 50 quid buy in game it would ONLY have been Sky players, the regulars want the cheaper game, for the bigger game they go to Gala. They tried to compete with Gala 6 months ago and failed to sustain the good numbers they were getting. With the combination of having a great social scene at Sky and quite a few "first time live players" coming and the "regulars" voice I think they are correct to keep the buy in low but I was never against a 50 quid buy in, just wanted them to cater for the lower bankrolls!! is this a definate cause i aint payin 50 quid for a game of poker, this is my first spt and my first live game and would rather go to one of the cheaper tournies for a bit of practice. cheers

Yeah Casino confirmed on their facebook page that 50 quid was just an idea and that they had decided to run their normal £15 freezeout.

good stuff, i had already made arrangements to get down in time for the friday tourney so thats a good bit of news cheers rab
Gala Leeds takes the Friday night business with this tourney
Friday
£20 Triple Chance
Two £20 re-buys allowed
5000 point stack
20 minute clock
Entries from 7 pm, starts at 8.15 pm.
£4 registration fee applies
£3000 guaranteed prize
Alea Leeds run a £15 freezeout with £5 bounty that gets around 60 runners
Grosvenor gave up on big entry tournaments 6 months ago, too much competition from Gala. A 50 quid tournament would only be the Sky players willing to play that buy in, say 35 - 40 runners
The idea wasn't steamrollered or shot down, they run a £15 freezeout every Friday, they have a regular client base and don't believe a change from the normal is appropriate.
They suggested a change to a £50! It is disappointing for a lot of people they've reverted to £15, whilst good news for others. I am disappointed they changed their mind without consulting me, as they wanted my opinion when they changed the comp in the first place Posted by SPT
Lets hope they can organise the actual tournament a bit better hey!!

was coming up to get on the alt list and the £50 game on friday made it good value. may try DTD on sat good luck all at the SPT
So now there are £15 freezeouts at two Leeds casinos, instead of there being an alternative slightly higher buy in tournement for 30 or 40 Sky players who would be interested. Seems strange to me.
In Response to Re: Friday 6th May, SPT Leeds Weekend: [ the wife and I are coming up the night before (Friday) and were looking forward to the £15 freeze out but dismayed when we read that this was to increase to £50!! Glad now that their running the £15 tourny £50 for both of us to play is a bit steep on top of two days away and the hotel.
If they have canceled the £50 game why not increase the £15 to say £20 or £25 tops? cheap enough for us casual players but also big enough for the more serious players

+ 1 jononzie...
Havnt played much live poker myself so was looking forward to the £15 freezeout on the Friday but when i seen it went up to £50 it did put me off a bit TBH.
I think a 20-25 pound tournament would have been a reasonable price but then again i can see where the casino is coming from and y they would want to stick with thier original £15 freezeout!
I have asked the casino to put on a £15 and £50, to suit both viewpoints here, seeing as they have changed their mind about a £50 alone. Both comps would be capped due to capacity

That is exactly what I asked them to do so will see what happens

that seems to be the best idea, In future as you (sky) know the times venue and capacity could you not organise with the casino regarding extra games for the sky poker fraternity? so we all have an idea of what is available and how much to bring long before we all descend on mass to find out at the last moment the casino has increased the price ot the game normaly played and priced out a lot of players, I think they call it organisation! (tongue in cheek)

Gala looks like the place to be Friday night see you all there

our hotel (prem inn) rosjim sharing.... is approx 10 yards from gala casino... but im sure jim would agree with me that we would rather go to whichever casino most sky players are descending on fri night... so is it to be gala or grosvenor???
be abit rude to play at a different casino after all the work done to organise the SPT events and sorting the venues. Im sure Rich has gone out of his way to set up a game on the friday and be bad if everyone just went off elsewhere. if you dont play or get knocked out then we can get drunk innit. if anyone sees me playing roulette, please god stop me doesnt sound like a degen at all.

Nobody complained at Aspers £20 freezeout
