They did it because, they couldnt get the window cleaner to go up any more than 3 stories high, though I suspect you dont need a comp as your blogs are, as always blogtastic.

Screen is there to make it look like Venice obv.

Also, i imagine there is building work going on behind to expand the hotel and this screen covers the building work innit

Have really enjoyed reading all of these blogs Tikay.

The facade at the Venetian is there as work continues on the development of the new train line, that will run around the perimeter of hotel at (sky) height. and rumour has it the name will be Kendall-sky train.

The canvas is there for those who like to take photos/pictures of the Vegas sky line*

This enables the buildings to also keep up with the Joneses.

*i think the common term used for these kind of people is called....tikayists.

I believe the Venetian management have decided that as the only poker player above 120 years old Mr Tony Kendall is being honoured in statue form which is currently being erected behind the giant screen.
The problem with this is the builders work the equivelant amount of time Tikay spends actually playing a hand in a tourney, so they work approximately 45 seconds a day..... Will it ever be completed ???

    Great Blogs - thanks.

With regards to the Venetian, I think they're planning a surprise unveiling of a 4 storey high statue of Tikay in celebration of all the 'donations' he's made this year ;-)

Its there to fool the pigeons from landing on the ledge and using it as a toilet ;0) they smack straight down the canvas to the pigeon disposal man waiting below ;0)

I'd imagine it's there so the building looks better as having scaffholding sticking out the top would be unsightly and not attractive to new customers, like when you see buliding work in an adjacent hotel on holiday. ;)

the reason for the fake painted canvas... i know, i know....

behind the canvas screening is a place housing the skypoker random number generator.

as if you didn't know tikay, honestly!

Loving the blogs Tikay and I hope you're feeling friskier today.

I emailed the manager at the Venetian and asked "Why the false floors?"

    He came back with this:

    "Dear Prop

Yeah. $1.5bn and we still couldn't finish it! Budget overruns are seemingly a prennial problem with Mafia building firms.

After they left us in the lurch we got a bunch of Polish builders in. Dead cheap and they work like, er, Poles. The only problem was something got lost in translation and they ended up extending the wrong half of the hotel. That'll teach me to take a holiday. So we put some tarps up to hide the whole nightmare while we swapped it over.

Money was getting short so we sent Sanjay from the IT department down to the Merc raffle. The idea was that he could sell the car for cash and we could finish the job. Worked like a charm until Sanjay decided he was keeping the **** car. Now the Gaming Commission fine has done the rest of our cash so the tarps stay up. In desperation I was even putting $10 a day into our Jackpot slot machine til someone from Finance explained the maths. Doh!

Our last chance of getting the moolah together to sort it out was the stake we bought in some limey poker player called Tikker (or something like that). Rupert at Fox said he was the best they had but he's hopeless, so we've taken an insurance policy out on the guy and poisoned him. We gave him enough junk to fell an elephant but he must have an iron constitution as all that's happened is he's going around saying he's "A little under the weather".

Mind you, with all the cr*p the guy eats we may not have to wait too long before nature takes its course.

Thank you for taking such an interest in The Venetian. And please don't tell anyone about all this. I'm soooo embarrassed!

    Have a nice day.

    Anthony (Fat Tony) Corleone.
    General Manager"

Just goes to show how life can be stranger than fiction, eh?

Get well soon and be lucky.

Its probably to make it the best looking place in Vegas. It is probably something to do with making it more an experience of Venice.

Plus of course it is to hide Area 51 its not actually in a desert its at the top of the Venetian LOL jokes.

But mainly its to make it look better and to make it more like Venice :)

Enjoying all the blogs Tikay looking forward to the rest of them and good luck hope you run well in the rest of the tournements you play.
