Can we "chat" about the SLEEPER in DYMs?

I would guess or assume that in a live game - with an empty seat - it would be open season (and chat would take place) on the Sleeper's chipstack. I have just been in a £3 DYM where the 3rd place player bravely (or by accident) sat out and got paid without playing a single hand. Whilst I appreciate this is within the rules - is it within the rules for other players to acknowledge there is a sleeper and play their hands accordingly - or would this be collusion?

    Hi imber

If it was written in the chatbox, it could be seen as collusion.

Depends on how it was said in the chat really.

If a player simply wrote "The Player is Away" then this would be ok imo
    But
If the Player wrote "The Player is Away Steal His Blinds" and other players agree, then this could be seen as collusion.

Most players already notice if a player is away and Blind him out without having to say anything in the chat and there is nothing wrong with that, but if they acknowledge or make some kind of agreement then they would be at risk of collusion.

Sleeper is actually a very good DYM player!!

He has this amazing tactic of lulling eveyone in a false sense of security, by sitting out, then when the blinds actually mean something, he wakes up with AA in the BB, just as 2 unsuspecting victims are fighting over who steals the blinds!!

The Timer is runnin down on his action, BOOM!!!!! he is all in,.......... and chipped up to Cash!!

He manages to play under different names on a regular basis anD should be always reported to customer care!!

    Beware The Sleeper!!

I was doing my level 6 Mad Irish rover challange last night, and we had a sleeper.  Down to 4 players, just let anyone steal his blinds and we all cash.  The big stack doesn't get the message and raises every pot.  Why???  Even when going to showdown with the sleeper, he ensured he raised sufficient to put everyone all in, meaning only himself and the sleeper went to showdown, therefore prolonging the game.  I wouldn't have minded, but he turns over hands like 53 off.  Surely this is collusion with the sleeper?  Luckily I had sufficient chips to see it out, but the shortstack at the table made it through by the skin of his teeth when Johnny Bigstacks once again isolated the sleeper and turned over 6 high, with the sleeper had 4 high.

    Your thoughts please

hate the dead guy at the table, dont really see a reason for it. waste of money in most games. i play a game at alea every sunday and if there`s a no show the blinds come off them every hand after level 3, that soon gets rid lol

A sleeper is annoying in dyms, i dm sitting out a cpl of levels when the blinds are low but why sit out all game if ur there, either ur on a table to play or not, dyms fill up rather quickly so i assume his there.

with 4 left im straight on the chat box telling everyone to blind him out, if that done wake him up, then he shuddnt of joined the room ;-).

id rather cash by playing poker, than sitting there doing nothing. i think its wrong ppl join a table and then dont play, especially in a dym which fills up quickly so they must b there, if it was a live game they wudnt be allowed

"Away" players are an absolute dream to have in DYMs. Instead of having to come 3/6 you effectively have to come 3/5. Think about what that does to your edge in the long run in games where the edges are so small generally. I don't understand how anyone can have a problem playing someone who isn't there.

You only have to come 3/5 if the 'sleeper' blinds out...what happens when its to final four..do u carry on playing at the risk of 1/3 that are playing dont cash, or do u tell them to let the 'sleeper' blind out so u all cash...ino what i do and i dont class it as 'colluding'..colluding is 2 ppl sitting at same table telling each other what cards they have.

Your idea of collusion is different to what collusion actually is.

If you're happy conducting yourself in your own way, that's fine, but it's against the rules of the game, and the site, and you could, should, and will eventually be punished if you continue to do it.

It's a grey area, and it's very naive to assume that exchanging hole cards is the only way that people can collude.

What about chip dumping? Soft playing someone? Avoiding pots with another player? Consistantly giving walks to a short stack?

Cards are irrelevant in all the above scenarios.

Anyway I hope this thread is a wake up call, and if you continue to play dyms, you read up on the rules and become farmiliar with what is, and is not acceptable.

I'm sure the players in your games will be watching you in the future after reading this thread.
