I agree that it could be highlighted more and i would be prepared to pay a little more as prizes are real good.Just like other players i would also like to play against the big guns but how to commit them to playing in a least five weeks i suppose could be quite hard.Saying that i still got to share same table with some good players.Take it it's down to sky poker to decide whether it's worth it.I would play another one and i'm sure others would too. Thanks again scotty for this tourney and cheers scouse red.Could i play in this sunday primo please.
Yeah I agree with Ploppy, I thought the whole league and tournament was spot on.
I wouldn't argue against increasing the buyin though but having said that, the £1.10 deepstack usually has a bigger field than the £2.20 deepstack so it's probably best to leave it as is.
I think alot of players genuinely didn't know there was a league attached to this with prizes on offer. There are still many players who never look at the forums.
Well done to whoareya and all of the other prize winners.
Thanks also to Chris for doing the league tables and scotty for coming up with the idea.
I thought it was an excellent tournament with added bonus of the league, so well done Ryan!
Further comments:
1) Start time was perfect, nice to kick off before the main event and bigger mtt's.
2) Wednesday was good, Tuesday would also work, maybe you could run a TSP Lite with the slightly higher buy in of £3.3 or £5.50 on the Tuesday.
3) Buy in of £1.10 made it open to everyone, though with a £1.10 buy in the tourney may well have been dismissed by some of the bigger tourney players, improved promotion of the associated league and prizes may help here.
4) Length of League and average scores was good, to keep a wider interest it definitely shouldn't be any less than 8 weeks.
5) Couldn't fault the prizes, to be honest they were the carrot that persuaded me to enter the TSP Lite from the second week. (I didn't realise the league existed when TSP Lite was launched).
6) Further idea - If Sky would like to see a long life to the TSP Lite format and its league:
How about the addition of a 'champions league' with each winner from 6 leagues (over 48 weeks), playing off in a final table for a final bonus prize of an SPT seat.
Or if 48 weeks is too long, take the top 2 from 3 leagues (24 weeks) or top 3 from 2 leagues (16 weeks) and these players get to play for an SPT seat.
This rewards loyalty and gives lower stake players a real chance to get into a SPT event.
i honestly thought the whole league and structure was run perfectly and ended just at the right time (as i was top of league lol). all jokin aside well done scotty and scouse really enjoyed it. good luck all. Posted by whoareya
+1 loved it and not because i finished fifth. hope we can do it again.
Not looking to start an argument and i know the thread has asked for peoples opinions but i can't believe how naive some of the comments are.
Sky is a business and it cost them £2440 to run this in prizes and guarantees and they ended up losing around £1000 so why would they run it exactly the same again.
No successful business runs a lose making venture they either scrap it or run it again with reduced overheads and increased profits.
That means guarantees and prizes will come down and buy in's will go up.
I would be delighted if they ran it again in the same format but i'm a realist and don't expect sky to give their money away.
Just noticed Achill's comments, I wouldn't have imagined any of the previous posters were suggesting Sky run the TSP or any other tourney's at a loss.
To be constructive may I suggest the following:
1) TSP Lite Guarantee - It didn't cross my mind that the suits at SkyPoker can't do the maths, but just in case, for a £1.10 entry it would appear a £250 guarantee is not going to be covered, so either reduce the guarantee or find a half way house, maybe increase entry to £2.20, try it again with the £250 guarantee.
2) Associated TSP Lite League - I think the associated league format and its added prizes appealed to most participants and certainly boosted the initial entrants to the TSP Lite.
Why not increase the rake to cover the cost of these prizes?
For example increase the buy in from £1.10 - £1.60 (or £2.20 - £2.70).
This generates an additional 50p rake per buy in, if you take a 'safe avarage' of 100 entry's ( first weeks could easily be in excess of 200) per 8 week league, that's £50 per week, giving £400 additional rake, which will cover the quality league prizes on offer.
I think Sky Poker know's how to run a business so I'm sure they can come up with the right figures for their customers.
Obviously advertising of a re-launched TSP Lite LEAGUE would have to be imporved with the additional rake and league format made clear well in advance of the start of the first tournament.
