In Response to Re: **** SEPTEMBER PROFIT CHALLENGE THREAD **** : Hi mate. Only been playing on site a few months and never played much until september so its the first time ive hit 10k c4p to get into pri club. And yes aswell to the other question but ive had to pay for my education because i lost about £25k when i first started playing poker doing the sort of things the players i follow about now do Posted by rentisdue
Well glad to see it's paid off!
Do you know any good resources, or did you mainly just learn yourself?
This includes the £50 I gained for cash for points.
I made a late bid to get into the top 30 league for mtt's and thanks to a 70 points tally on the last day, I made it into 28th place, so will get to be a shortstack playing for a place on TSP.
Summary
My objective for the month, was to focus on playing as many main events as possible, I am not comfortable paying more than £22 buy in, so this meant I would play a lot more satellites than normal.
I didn't manage to qualify for a single Saturday or Sunday roller and I think I tried to satellite into all of them, so that was a big fat zero failures out of 9!
I qualified for one Sunday Primo and finished 2nd for a primo profit of roughly £1,860.00
Take my Primo winnings away and I would have shown a September loss of £300 or more.
I realise if I had lost an early race in that one Primo, I could have gone out without cashing, but on the other hand I exited other main events when ahead and subjected to a number of bad beats.
I did manage to cash in 6 or 7 main events, (roughly 25-30% cash rate in main events) including a 7th place finish.
Conclusion
No real eureka moment, but reading everyones comments on this thread and my own experience for the month has given me much to reflect on.
I have never played so many main events in a month and I've had made my best monthly profit.
Likewise my poker points for September was 3,434, I have never been close to 3,000 before.
I am not sure I will approach October with the same intensity towards main events, I will certainly be making less effort to satellite into the rollers, the odds are too high against; that said I did manage to satellite into three Sunday Rollers before September, can I resist the temptation!
Part of me tells me I made the most money I have ever done from focusing on main events and should continue with this strategy, but I also realise bigger and better players than me could go months playing main events only and fail to make a decent cash.
Good luck to everyone for October and a thank you to Jenny for starting the thread.
