    Hi all,

Thanks sporny for raising this and thanks for great feedback - I just looked back at my tournie - I'm not a maths person (lol playing poker!) - is the prize money done on a set/strict % payout whatever the tournie and it's just happened because it's 101  players.  - an oddity as such. Surely very slightly less at the top would would easily resolve this.  Even easier I suppose would be top 15. Here is the tournie I played in - note poker trev 11th (a loss of 18p and myself 18th same loss). I actually decided not to play one last night as I now look for this and saw the same thing happening. Thanks Kiwini4u for passing this on.

    The tournament in question pays out as so 27% of the prize pool to the winner, 2nd 15.7%, 3rd 11%, 4th 9%, 5th 7.3%, 6th 6%, 7th 5%, 8th 4%, 9th  3%, 10th 2% and 11th to 20th 1%.So between 100-199 players this seems to be the standard pay out structure(obv changes when 30+ get paid) 90% to the top 10 and 10% to the other 10.

The problem is the way sky works its pay out the bigger the field the better it works. It's just at the lower runner levels it does not. That looks like a standard 50 pay out percentages from the only one i could find mini open in gary qqq's tornament thread. You have 400 buy-ins to cover 50 pay outs (8 buy-ins to 1 pay out)where as you only have 100 to cover 20 (5 buy-ins to 1 pay out) when this level is first reached.By the end of the levels they almost match 499 buy-ins for 50 pay outs(9.98 to 1) and 199 for 20(9.95 to 1).

THAT`S WHAT I`M SAYING, BECAUSE IT`S A LOWER BUY-IN ODDS DON`T ADD UP ( FORGET FREEROLL) BUT WITH BIGGER BUY-IN YOU MAKE A PROFIT ?

Size of buy in has nothing to do with it.Look at the tsp classic it normally gets 100+ runners uses exactly the same pay out structure as your opening deepstack example 90% to top 10 and 10% the other 10 (so 11-20th get the same 1% of prize pool)and its buy in is £10+£1.It just looks better because it gets 130 runners(6.5 buy ins to 1 cash) or even 160(8 to 1).If it got 101 runners £1010 prize pool 11th+ get £10.10(only the £1200 guarantee stops this happening).
The only 2 things that affect the pay out are the number of buy-ins per cash and the main one the percentage of the prize pool assigned to each finishing place by sky.
I am not disagreeing with you the 100 runner 20 pay outs needs changed.Trying to remember 8 pay outs start at 50 runners(6.25 buy-ins to 1 cash) ,10 start 70 i think(7 to1) 5 is 30(6 to1) so 100 to 20(5 to 1) is by far the worst stating buy-ins to pay out so min cashes are going to be worse. When it gets to 200 and 30 payed(6.67 buy-ins to 1 cash) 300 = 40 payed(7.5 to1) 400 =50 (8 to 1) 500=60(8.33 to 1) 600=70(8.6 to1) bigger the field the more money going in the pot per cash pay out.

Some interesting points, I think another alternative solution for the lower levels is to keep the numbers paid out the same but reduce the winning percentage of final table, in the example above if you took £4 of the top 2 places and £1 off the remaining final table places your now covering entry with a small profit.
