So long, farewell, goodbye

That's me finished with poker. Had enough. It's not for me.

Melodrama-queenish, I know, but I'm not one to tell lies and I mean it and want to say goodbye. It's costing me too much in both time and money.

It's been a blast. There's been highs, there's been some severe lows.

I only started playing about 18 months ago. Had watched Devilfish a few times and didn't think it looked that hard. I'd soon learn.

1st attempt I loaded £100 and played a 50/100 table. Trebled up. Easy game. Then two pair got busted by a set?! Not Possible?! Bust. Holes punched through walls.

Obsessed. Read and read and studied and started to turn profit. But couldn't help drunkenly testing my knowledge with mixed results. A bit more to the game maybe? Found Ch. 865 and it was that that made me fall in love with the game. Tikay's a legend, a gent. He is Ch.865 and a sage of the game. Orford was his sidekick and another fantastically good humoured gent. Spoke to them both on Ch.865 early doors and my son was in raptures at seeing my name on the telly. Although the up-shot is he's still determined to take on Rich at HU. Wouldn't surprise me if he takes to this game a million times better than me. Under my initial tutelage, of course. I teach better than I perform.

Every other presenter was fantastic too and it's the channel that makes Sky what it is I reckon. Fell in love with Lisa Marie early doors and wrote a tremendously embarassing ode to her on the forums. I'm sure fkn Matchka can still find it and re-post the link for the thousandth time :-) Might have been Maxally actually, I can't tell the difference :-) But to a man the presenters were great and had a humour that made Ch.865 such easy viewing. Giddens (sp.) was a leg, James's dry sense of humour and culture geekery was something I could really relate to, Trevor was a man you wanted to have a pint with and get his stories and the ladies were legendary. Lisa Marie was the love of my life and I'm sure my number could be found via Sky if the feelings are reciprocated Lisa. But Sarah's lovely too and has the most generous laugh you ever want to hear when a hand you've utterly destroyed is being replayed on tv. And Anna's thoo cute.

But, aye, the forum. Great stuff. Learnt so much. And made a million cyber friends. Apologies if I miss anyone. But shouts out to Do H to the seven, IrishRover, The Don-90, GreggHogg, Young-Gun, TommyD, Loonytoons and all the rest who've friendily insulted me whilst making me feel as welcome as a man can be. I still reckon there's a load of liars about though because, hey, it's the nature of the gambler to exaggerate his wins and blank his losses.

Learnt loads from the pros too. That Redmond could be such an utter assassin whilst coming across as such an easy going guy says a lot about the good side of poker. ljamesl was always my hero on here though. The poker skillz he displayed inspired me. A maniac who continuously won tournaments and I'll be looking to bet on him taking down the WSOPME as soon as he gets the balls to enter it. Not sure about the image though. He's thankfully got rid of that earing that piqued Tikay, and me, so much. I certainly don't think the current Terry Thomas tache is cool though. Sort that out quickly Williams. Scotty77 was always a good guy on the forum and of late LolRaise has been kind enough to share a few thoughts. All appreciated.

So, eh, aye, it's not the people that're involved with poker that've put me of. It's just my horrendous bad luck. It's genuinely beyond belief. Not that I'm the best, not that my BR management should ever be looked up to. But I'm just bona fide unlucky. I've a friend I grew up with who's now a successful accountant who thirsts on my bad luck stories. He's convinced that the lottery's, very shortly, statistically, mine. Since betting began, it's been a cloud over my finances. And I've a son that should, fkn better be, planning college shortly. So I better write that booker novel shortly.

I'm thhhuch a drama queen. But this is for real. Gl at the tables gents.

And a shout out to Black-Mass, not often I get complimented for the very thing I'm proud to be :-)

I'm sure I'll load up the odd ME from time to time but I'm away from the grind for real. You bum hunting, staring at 20 poker tables for 6hrs at a time geeks :-)

Best of to y'all xx

Stop it. We'll have none of this leaving talk here. If you leave I'll pour me beer down the drain. Could you live with that?

    :-)

Ain't Sky I'm leaving bud, it's poker. Big difference. Doing it for the right reasons.

And that there are mods on poker forums that would even contemplate pouring alcohol away could only exacerbate my feelings ;-)

    you were drinking at 7am?

may i refer the honourable gentleman to the thread he started recently saying how lucky he is and how well he runs?

we aren't all bigger and better than linford christie.  i am sure that somedays linford gets out of a cold shower and he, too, isnt quite so impressive.  even linford christie doesn't run like linford christie all the time.

Oooof. This 1 is gonna hurt in the morning. At night. Tomorrow. Or whenever you wake up!!!

    ------------

essay warning. Thaz a top fella, and not renound for these kinda posts, so prob worth 5 minz typing to try and show there's light at the end of the tunnel and maybe change ur mind.

    ----------

Immediately skoped u after reading this post, must admit I'm pretty shocked. I know its not 100% and u've had a few freebies but didn't expect what I saw.....

You need to get something going with your poker.

Alot of the players I talk to, are just starting out, or in most cases, re-starting. With quite abit of poker experience behind them, trying different games, having built and lost a few bankrolls etc....

This is the hardest bit, it's getting something going, picking a game, structuring your poker and getting the initial "kick start"......

As you start winning a few quid, everything becomes easier. Reading the strategy articles is easier. You want to do it, you're interested in what you're reading about. It's not a chore, you know that reading this article will equate to profit in the long run....

It's the same with videos, strategy boards, going through HH's etc....

This is all a load of b***** and hard to do when you're waking up on the back of losing sessions day in, day out.

Of course when you've been winning for a few weeks, and you have a rough couple of days that destroys 4 weeks profit, it's demoralising, but you've proved you can do it, and you can do it again, so theres still the motivation there to go and do it again.....

Poker is so much easier, much more entertaining, and enjoyable when you're winning.

The quote "I lost 10 pound over 2 hours, but I don't mind paying that for the entertainment" is always BS imo....

I could pay 50 quid to go watch an opera, sit through it for 2 hours, have no idea what's going on, and walk out feeling it was boring, and a waste of time and money.

You can't enjoy something that you're always losing at. No way. Maybe a minority of people can, but they are normally re-captured pretty quickly.

There's no reason why any semi-intelligent person can't win decent money playing recreationally at lower mid stakes on sky. I dunno how much you study poker, but from your forum posts you seem to have the Don-itis, head in the clouds, talking about Ivey/Redmaaan Lee/LjamesL etc....

Put any of those 3 guys in a 5r dym, or a 20nl cash table and they would play completely differentlly.

Maybe focus your poker study/reading on something more relevant. Instead of "turn $50 into $5,000,000" articles, read the SS cash forum strategy boards etc.....

Start winning money, then taking shots at the big-time with your profits. At least that way it's not gonna cost u owt.

As for spending too much time playing, I can't really comment on that. I don't play enough.....

But like you I always play when I drink. In fact I only ever drink when I play poker. Some days I don't even wanna drink, but I really wanna play poker. So I have to force myself to drink.... Anyone who says you can't win at poker when drunk is talking poo. You probably can't sit with 5 pros @ 100nl and make money when u'r drunk. But I can't do that sober either. You can still crush fish.... It's easy man.

essay alert. GL m8 whatever u decide to do.

Maybe you should consider a career in Poker Journalism!
If that fails what about the next presenter on Sky 865

    Seriously however you'll be missed!
I always look forward to reading your posts

    Good Luck

have you withdrawn your team from jaegerbomb's fantasy league?  yes?  we all hope so.

giving up skypoker is like giving up smoking.  no cutting down, just cold turkey, although i guess you could use "patches" which, for you, would be playing the freerolls.

    pah, see you next week.
