I'm thhuch a melodramatic, narthithithtic drama queen when drunk.
Hungover sigh.
Time's short but I'll reply to some of the points if I may;
Sporny : Humblest apologies for forgetting you bud. You're a legend on here and have given me hundreds os laughs. Thanks for the words.
Aussie : I'm pretty sure I've never written a thread about running good at poker. I rarely have. Winning competitions, yes, and that cannot be denied. Oh for some of that in poker. And I'm not withdrawing my team from Jaeger's dream team either. You just keeping cashing to boost my score if you could please. Double edged sword right there :-) What was I thinking picking GaryQQQ tho? I knew he was a milkman that didn't play at nights.
Da Irishman : Already replied. Mucho appreciated bud, you're another in the long list of Irish Saints.
Do, to the 7 hs : Agree entirely and I appreciate the time it must have taken to write that. Wise words. I'm certainly going to get in touch when I eventually progress to cash. But I haven't Donitis, I know how to play the low stakes and have no desire to be table captain unless there's a very obvious advantage in being so. I very much like the term though :-)
Matchkally : f off ;-)
My sharkskope : Aye, it's bad. there are a lot of sats in there and free tourney entries but ti's bad anyway. Very sobering. Da Irishman actually pointed out my dym record which was very good I thought. But drunken adventures have cost me dearly. Only when very drunk do I play terribly but my BRM/table selection goes haywire. Redmond Lee?! Pfft, who's he think he is? I know my weaknesses. But I'm not re-setting it. It's something to aim at and will give some the impression I'm a total fish and I'm fairly sure I'm not close to that.
It's turned into another narcicistic me, me, me post and I apologose for that. But wanted to thank the kind words and thanks to the many I haven't mentioned. Too little time to as I'm away out for a works night out. I'll see you later Redmond. You're mine :-)
sorry to hear it bud, i know exactly how you feel and took a long time off myself. My advice would be not to give up poker entirely as you obv like the game although your having a bad time of it. What i did was played lots of live games either with friends or at the casino, even pubs do free poker leauges with no risk exexpt getting drunk, trust me it is a breath of fresh air compaired to online. Then when you have had a good long break maybe you will feel and im sure you will - come back. Im so glad though that your are man enough to admit when you want to call it a day, suppose its like giving up smoking it aint easy when you dont get your fix but if you give up you feel so much better until you have a pint down the pub and your smoking again lol. I wish you well good sir and hope you do well in what ever other thing you take up, theres always knitting

Two hat-tricks for my strikers in the fantasy football too including captain Rooney. And PeteLFC has surely propelled me to the peaks of Jaeger's dream team thing too?
Half the skills in entering competitions transfered to my poker game and Ivey would be but a by-word in Poker. Arturo Bandini, lover of man and beast alike, shall rule this world.
To think of it, that the world I inhabit is ordered by beings who are not one-tenth so clever as I am. I have often suspected as much, and it is decidedly unfair. Now let me see if I cannot make something out of being such a monstrous clever fellow.
Very sad to here bandini you have entertained the forums alot, i've always enjoyed your stories etc.....still want you to come to an SPT preferably one im going
Anyway enough with the emotional shizzle its too early/hungover for this so i wish you the best of luck buddy
In Response to Re: So long, farewell, goodbye : nice first post............. good luck with the future bandini hope you get the fire in your belly to play poker again some day soon mr irish man think you can find my heart beating it seems to have stopped to this one and delaney2011 stars : ) Posted by delaney09
I will try do this for you today if not, tomorrow bud .
. . . . There's no reason why any semi-intelligent person can't win decent money playing recreationally at lower mid stakes on sky. . . .
Yes there it - it's called the rake, or buy-in, or House Edge - you know, the bit you have to pay to play (a minimum of 10% on this site). I assume that "lower mid stakes" (whatever they are) is a level where it's 10%? So in order to not fall into the red you have to be playing at a minimum average advantage of 10%. Also depends on what is considered to be "decent money" of course, and how much you have to throw across the electronic felt, and how often, to achieve it?
I applaud the OP's declaration that he's recognised that playing online poker is having an adverse effect and that he's going to give it a miss from now on. I gave the game up myself (not permenently for obvious reasons) when it became clear playing it was causing me to become even more of a grumpy old g|t than I already was. I now restrict my play to pennies for the entertainment value - I can afford the fiver a month or so I end up out of pocket. I think that playing the game, and buying into all of the hype surrounding it is potentially addictive (and therefore a problem) and if kicking it into touch addresses this issue (or risk of it occuring) than good on him.
I did, do a quick search on Sharkscope just to see what level Mr Bandini has played at. I would assume that this falls into the category of "lower mid stakes", and so from the quote I've highlighted above it would seem that the responder (whom I haven't shown) considers the OP not to be at least "semi-intelligent". I don't believe this is the case - he writes eloquently, isn't a cretin I'm sure and has realised it's time to call it a day. He just hasn't "beaten the game" although he's possibly spent more than he should of in attempting to do so. Bearing in mind that the majority of poker players won't be net winners, for many reasons not related to their IQ, this seems to me to be another case of anecdotal mightly bold talk.
Mr Bandini, best of wishes with your literary efforts sir.

Den.
I never liked him anyway.
Only joking of course.
Glad it looks like you're sticking around Bandini.
Listen to some of the advice in this thread and start enjoying the game once more. That is why we all started playing after all.
