    Count me in

Sure SKY could easily set up some tables with all the same password so we can use them.

Say 100 players, 50 tables. Would be nice for them to give something back

Games should have to played with a set time period, say a week is adequate.

Post the password, post the draw then the players can organize via a forum thread or pm’s

Biggest problem is tables and random connectors

    In please ;),

Can understand some of the issues that need ironing out with regards to randoms joining, that could really make it drag out if it consistently happened especially if you're playing someone who can't multitable so needs to finish the game against a random before even playing you lol

    Seriously

This is a great idea but it could be a logistical nightmare

What if the person you get drawn against does not respond to arrange a game but then blames you for not contacting them?

What if both people are away and don't arrange a game, are you going to draw a winner to go through to the next round?

Don't get me wrong though, I am really looking forward to this

I think I remember quite a while back someone else ran one of these, most likely IRISHROVER, and the way it worked then was to play eachother on the freeplay cash tables which obviously meant you just sat down and waited till your oppo joined you and refused to play anyone else. Then you just both start with a set amont of big blinds and obvz don't top up lol.

This could then be repeated up to 3 times till someone wins 2, however it would take away a lot of the will to win with there being no real money at stake but I often feel in these things it's more about bragging rights than cold hard cash. Still, just an idea.

I'd be somewhat of a bye into the next round for someone but would still like the chance to play one of so many good players if there's places left.

    Ta.

It would take away a lot of my will to live playing HU v a nit with no blind increse.

      Here you go PAUL ,
      THIS MAY HELP YOU />>>.

A TIP : If one is trying to organize a £1 heads up game , do so as follows :

both players first sit in a free play hu table from here one of you open a £1 hu game &

inform the other player , in this way it limits the opportunity of someone else sitting in on table .

Thank you very much for the tip Rover, I'll stick it in the OP shortly so that people can see it.

And thanks to everyone else for their contributions and suggestions. From everyone's thoughts and my own during today in work, I think I got a few things a bit closer to finalised.

Firstly Rover's idea is very good to avoid random joiners... then I think (as Debs said) we should just keep it to 1 table at a time, that way you can just say rematch at the end of the game and thus take out the risk of random joiners again when you try to get on a 2nd table with them, so once you get on a table with your opponent that'll be you sorted for that match.

Sadly there will not be a velvet bag of balls but there will be lots of pieces of paper with names on and a vessel of some sort...

It's agreed that once I announce the draw, I am expecting the players involved to contact each other to arrange a date and time, anyway you like, twitter, fb, PM, this thread, skype, msn... and so on. I will give a set amount of time, to have ALL round 1 matches played, it will be no more than a week so if you don't think you can cope with these deadlines, please don't register.

Right, now I'm going to update the list of runners and put a few of these details on the OP so the information doesn't get lost.
