Due to a busy day and tiredness I didn’t get round to playing much poker today.
It was a day to forget in MTTs; between three Bounty Hunters I only managed to win one hand post flop. In the first game I busted with 97<88 on a 778 flop after a card dead 30 minutes. In the second I was donked by a bingo player; AK<K4 aipf early on. In the third I finally won my one and only post flop pot during level 3. It was pretty small; just a standard raise and c-bet. I lasted nearly an hour in that one courtesy of uncalled shoves, but I was eventually called by two and busted with 77<AQ<AK aipf when an ace hit on the river with 40BB in the middle.
Heads-up matches went better with 3 wins from 3 winning back about half of my MTT buy-ins.
Annoying isnt it when you have a new target of the 700 or so and you bounce around it, stick with it mate, and btw, saw your twitter blog on your long walk a while back, I wasnt on the site back then, but well done , and I enjoyed the read.

Yeah, it's funny how these plateaus keep coming along.
The most annoying one for me was the 5 weeks spent hovering at around £130; very frustrating.
As long as there'ss rowth between the plateaus and the long-term trend is upwards I don't mind them too much. I've only been on the current plateau for about 10 days, so it's not too bad. Hopefully it won't be 5 weeks again this time, if it is I've still got 25 days to go!
Thanks for your kind words about my walk blog Ooopnorth, it was written each evening on my iPhone with the photos being added later. A pretty awful day. I ran as badly as possible to lose my first few HU matches, then got donked out of a £5.75 Bounty Hunter in a sickening manner; I successfully trapped a maniac with my AK but was unable to hold against his 57 on an A84 flop when he hit a miracle 6 on the river with two beaten all-in players head prizes and over 200 big blinds in the pot.
Things improved somewhat after lunch when I managed to win some of the HU games. The highlight was a £10.50 hyper match in which I won back my BH buy-in with a little interest from the 57>AK BH suck-out guy. Although in other games I was reminded of the brutal variance in fast HU games, for example failing to hold in a 70/30 with £20 at stake.
In my second £5.75 BH I enjoyed a decent run but bubbled with no head prizes after failing to recover from a big 66<KK blind vs blind mishap.
In my three morning tournaments today I drew a complete blank. The best chance of a deep run came in a £5.75, but I somehow managed to jam AJ into AA twice in standard late stages shove spots. In the other two games I came second in flips.
Returning to the tables after lunch I made a bad call to donk myself out of a £2.30. Then I had a run to the final table of a £5.75, helped on the way by the following tough hero call; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3Ojxeilzfw The villain’s check/raise bet-sizing (1.6x pot) on the river indicated to me that didn’t want a call, in which case his bet was more likely to be a bluff than a value bet. If he held the nuts he’d probably bet smaller to induce a call from a flush or straight.
Unfortunately that late stages run good in £5.75s still evades me; I got coolered in a standard blind vs blind spot and couldn’t win a 40/60 to bust in a disappointing fourth place. In a £2.20 Scary I managed to find aces yet again when I ran my AQs into AA.
That was me done for MTTs. I finished up with a few HU matches but run terribly, including AQ<KQ aipf for the win in a £10.50 game. After that one I threw in the towel and called it a day.

Still running badly, the deck doesn’t want me to win at the moment.
After logging in at lunchtime I registered in two Bounty Hunters. In a £2.30 I busted in a standard mid-stages AK<pair flip. The £5.75 had a small field so only 3 were paid. I was playing well and picking up plenty of good cards and went into final table as clear chipleader. As soon as we were in the money it went pear-shaped again as I ran terribly to finish in third. I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll ever win another £5.75 again; that’s 70 in a row in this quest without a single win despite 15 final tables.
After that I registered in another £2.30 Bounty Hunter and a £50 gtd £5.50 rebuy, the rebuy going off with only 3 runners. I went out of both to a 3-outer on the river. My 44<A2 aipf after an hour and a half of HU play in the rebuy was particularly painful, a hold in that hand was worth £50 (£16.50 invested) and was the difference between a £41 winning day and a £9 losing day. The board ran out 2T543.
I was too busy to participate in any MTTS today, so I made do with a few hyper HU matches when I could. I ran below expectation in all-in situations to finish down on the day.

Once again I spent most of the day on wrong side of variance; the flips aren’t going my way and I’m making very few holds when I my chips go in ahead. A typical example occurred in my only £5.75 Bounty Hunter of the day; I took on a well-known maniac with pocket 66 and failed to hold against his/her 35s aipf with an all-in shortie (the maniac’s previous victim) also in the pot. Similar brutal beats followed for most of the afternoon.
By far the highlight came when I managed to satellite into the Super Bounty Hunter for £1.05. I enjoyed a decent run in what was my first Main Event for quite a while, though I fell short of the money in 76th place with 40 spots paid. My exit hand was a standard late-stages cooler; when getting short I jammed ATs into QQ aipf and failed to improve. The £15 banked for two head prizes was a small consolation, though I’d had my eye on much bigger prizes. I ran fairly deep in the mini too, but couldn’t recover after my AK failed to hold against AQ aipf in a crucial pot.
The last fortnight has seen a downswing of nearly £100, though to be honest I can’t really complain after a hot spell of results in the first half of June. For the time being I’m going to stick to the lower buy-ins while I wait for a little form to return.

I entered three morning Bounty Hunter Tournaments today but didn’t enjoy the games at all. As usual the Sunday bingo players were out in force and there was very little proper poker being played.
A gambling tournament where everybody is going all-in either pre-flop or on the flop isn’t much fun, and it's certainly not what I'm looking for. After an hour of 'play' I'd already had enough and quit for the day.

A typical Sunday morning MTT hand; no poker permitted, it's all-in or fold only at this table;
Once again I failed at the final furlong in a £5.75 Bounty Hunter. I made a run to final table from 66 runners but the inevitable final table big flip didn’t go my way. With AJs on the BB and 14BB behind I found a great shove spot; the runaway chipleader opened to 3x (he was well ahead and opening every pot 3x), the SB flat called and I jammed over them both. The chipleader got out the way but the SB called with TT. It was a very one sided race, the SB flopped a set, turned quads and I exited in fourth place. Earlier on, as a very short stack, the same guy had been all-in and called against me as a 30/70 underdog and survived. Such is the nature of MTTs.
Apart from that I got nowhere in a £2.30 game that was a complete bingo shove-fest and finished break-even from three HU games.
Despite my disappointment at yet another £5.75 near miss at least I have something to be cheerful about; this was my first profitable day since Sunday the 24th of June. So a run of seven consecutive losing days has been broken. Hopefully I’ve turned a corner.
A fun start to the day and a sign of things to come; I took on a maniac in the £3.30 10-45am Bounty Hunter with my AK aipf and still managed to lose even though he held exactly the same hand (his AK made a flush).
Another promising run in a £5.75 ended close to the bubble. I still can’t win those £5.75 flips; I lost both in this game, 66<A8 to double a shortie then 66<AK to bust, the first time I’d been all-in and called in the entire game.
After that I played some HU games. If I’d won 70% of the 70/30s and 60% of the 60/40s I’d have finished the day ahead. But I just couldn’t manage it, annoyances included TT<AT aipf for the win in one of the two £10 games. When I lost a £5 game with QQ<J7o aipf I finally got the message that I wouldn’t be winning no matter what I did and snap quit for the day.

It was one of those days when nothing would hold. I quit my session after this hand;
Yay! I won a tournament today! It was only a small one, a £3.30 rebuy with 14 runners, but I’ll happily take it after two and a half weeks of awful results. I wasn’t even planning to play in this one, I only ended up in the field because I forgot to register for the 1-30pm Bounty Hunter. The rebuy just happened to be the next game going.
Over the last few days I’ve moaned about bad luck a fair bit in this diary, so it’s only fair if I’m honest when it goes the other way. With 4 left, 3 to be paid and the average stack at only 15BB I jammed AQs from the BB over the chipleader's button limp. He was trapping with QQ, but I spiked a beautiful ace to avoid being bubble boy. I also won a big AT />88 aipf flip just before the end of the rebuy period. My return of £37.50 is nothing to write home about (£6.60 invested), but it’s the best I’ve seen in a while.

HI Gary,
just to say I empathise with your "static" results and plateaus. I'm doing a "challenge" on another site which has seen me sitting around the same amount for the last 3/4 x weeks! I don't/can't play every day and just dip in&out for 5/10 mins or 30mins when I have a chance (suits my lifestyle). I am now able to tell after 10/15 mins whether its worth carrying on in the session! I was going along great (up 50BI's) for the first 6 weeks or so and then... NADA! 3/4 week static and then after another 6 weeks or so I made it to 100 BI's! Since then NADA! It was as if the RNG had been changed! It is definitely cyclical! Just keep grinding! Patience FTW!

Downswinging; another bad day.
In my three morning tournaments today I drew a complete blank. The best chance of a deep run came in a £5.75, but I somehow managed to jam AJ into AA twice in standard late stages shove spots. In the other two games I came second in flips.
Returning to the tables after lunch I made a bad call to donk myself out of a £2.30. Then I had a run to the final table of a £5.75, helped on the way by the following tough hero call;
