I've only quickly glanced through a few hands in over the last few pages and the only thing I've noticed is that you seem to be betting a bit small post-flop. There was one where you were clearly ahead on the flop and only made it half pot, I think you wanna be bettering 3/4 pot nearly all the time if you think you're ahead.

    thank you Lambert,
    point taken.
are you not worried opponent may fold by betting 3/4 pot
    as opposed to 1/2 pot.
or am i just losing value?

If oppo has ANYTHING i.e bottom pair they won't fold for 3/4 pot, even full pot bet.

    thanks carl,
how did u finish up last nite?

    tell u what i have noticed playing cash is this;
    from 6.30pm/7pm to about 11/11.30pm
    each nite,
nearly every table is full of regs,
and as they are argueably the hardest to beat,
would i not be better off playing dym,s at these times?
as i do feel more comfortable playing them.
then play cash outside these peak hours.
    or,
should i just "go with it" and play cash whenever i can?

    any thoughts,

    ty

    W4 L4 in the evening

    Whole day W18 L11 so +£12.30

Had pretty horrific start to month but slowly clawing back now, I certainly find it better doing it your way with more BI's as beats hurt a lot less.

    Good luck mate.

Decided to grind the £3.30's till £220 then give myself 10BI's at £5.50, so if that goes still have £165 - 50BI's at £3.30, doing the 2BI of JC's guide just wasn't working and also felt quite streeful knowing you have to start REALLY well to get off the mark.

    interesting,
nice to hear everone elses views and how
    they are going about things!
    the way i see it,
it will or should be a little harder @ £5.50
(won,t know 4 sure untill i try it)
    assuming i ever do...lol

but if u can grind out a profit @ £3.30
    that,s fine.
still not sure about this cash malarky,
    very hit & miss atm,
    long term aim,
would be nice to reach nl20 6 tables
    be very happy with that...lol
still can,t seem to get my head around
how many times you get out-drawn,
with players playing with total rubbish!
    happening too often...

    anyway...
    had my moan,
    so feeling better already...lol

    all for now

    best wishes

your just losing value 1/2 pot betting. you need to bet heavy people will come along with draws for a heavy price as wel as 2nd pair etc. yes at times people will fold but you will take a lot more larger pots for yourself when the hand ends

in theory this should be less with more tables running. yes your likely to to find 1 on each table but during daytime hours this can be as much as 4 per table.

part of the problem during this peak time is the inability to open new tables. there seems to be a cap on how many 6 max nl4 tables that can run which i find dreadfully unfair and is a nightmare to get seated on a table between 7-10pm

Hi mate. How long are the sessions your playing? I am just starting out in cash so am looking for tips on playing time and expectation for profits per session etc. Thanks and best of luck with your cash challenge. I might see you at nl4 sometime. Best wishes. Shaun the Villa fan in bham

Hi, Devonfish i seen you at one of the tables the other day, your game seems good. How often do you play and how many tables? I regularly play at NL5 and NL8 just as much as NL4 now a days, dependant on the NL8 tables, how they are running, if there is enough running etc... Have you got any ambitions to move on up the cash levels, once i fix a few leaks i'm going to take a few shots at NL10.
    Good luck.

    hi shaun,
    good question.
i don,t like to play knowing i have to finish
at a certain time as i could be either up or down at that point.
    i usually start a session at 6.30-7.30pm
and then just play until i,m either up a few quid
or as is often the case, until i can grind back money that i am down
    on that session.
i usually have a finish time in my head, when i start a session,
about 11-12pm,but as i,ve said if i am down at that time,
i just won,t stop until i,ve either got it back to somewhere close to level,
or better still until i am in profit,
(as was the case last night, played until 1.30..ish ( am )
    ended up 88p up.)
i know to within a pound or so how i am doing "in running"
    so just go with that.
don,t think u can sit down and say
"i,m going to win x ammount tonight and expect that to happen,
poker just doesn,t work like that."
i simply try and win each session even if as like last night
    it,s only 88p...lol
hope this may be of some use,
    best of luck yourself,
    devon

    hi swog,
    i,m playing 6 tables nl4 atm.
my aim is to play 6 tables at nl20,one day.
never play nl8,so can,t comment on them,
    when i get b/roll up to £1000
then i will simply move up to nl10 i think.
    how is your bankroll?
    i wouldn,t advise u moving up untill
    u can make a profit on nl4 1st.
    i,ve tried it in the past,and unless u r rolled4 it,
it really can hurt if/when you do have a bad session.
    i lost £70 one day,
and to be honest, don,t feel as though
i did an awful lot wrong!

    best wishes buddy,

i have detailed results for all cash levels, including NL4, with profit, hands played, BB/100, etc. I'm beating NL4 comfortably i believe over a big(ish) sample. I believe 30+ buy-ins is fine, as long as you think you can beat the game comfortably. So, NL4 - £120+. NL5/NL8 - £240+ (taking into account NL5 is about equivalent to NL8 due to it being an action table). My bankroll now has 74 buy ins for NL4, 57 for NL5 and 35 for NL8. I'm gradually playing more and more NL8 sessions, i just don't think i'm as comfortable at NL8 as NL4, so its going to take time. My figures show i'm beating all 3 cash levels rather easily, hopefully long may this continue.

I noticed at one of your tables: you min raised the button, don't do that ;) I once folded a set to you when the 3rd flush hit on the turn, so i have loads of respect for your game!

    hi swog,again.
i do like to change my raises alot,
as it can easily become predictable to hand range someone
    with a certain size bet.
good to hear you are beating all the levels you are playing,
must be doing most things right.
    as you say,30+buy-ins is fine,
as long as you are winning,
but down-swings can come along at any time.
for me,i,d rather be sat with 100 buy-ins
then those losses just don,t hurt you so much.

sure we will be seeing each other again,
as playing 6 tables there aren,t too many
    players i can avoid...lol

    keep running well,
    devon

no worries, i can send you the spreadsheet i use to record winnings if you want? It really helps me believe in my game after a bad beat or two. I know what you mean, if i had it my way i'd like 50+ buy ins for each level i attempt, but i think thats to conservative for me, good luck on the tables.
