Maybe I'm wrong and he is forum banned so can't post to confirm, but we have a fair bit of history and know each other's game fairly well.
By the river he only has £11 in a pot that is already £16 so he's not folding any decent showdown hand. He might not like it but he'd probably pay me off with AQ imo and maybe AJ. He won't pay off KJ but then don't think he'll ever turn AQ/AJ/KJ into a bluff anyway cos he knows I won't fold better hands than he's shoving so he'll just check back and I'll definitely get no value. He also pays me off when he's peeled KTs (dunno if he'd peel IP w/ KTo)
After flatting the 3bet I think pretty much the only hands he can reasonably have that beat me are TT and QJ
He also knows I'm more than capable of 3betting a hand like 89s and then just 3barrelling with a missed board like this that should hit my range well.
in another way although I said he might turn AQ into a bluff but then again would he not do a reraise preflop with that. it's probably hard because I don't know that guy very well. it is suprising really that it wasn't in on the turn, he was probably lucky that you had AK and the river did come a blank because if a 10 J or Q came that wasn't a diamond then he would have been the one who lost value. UL BTW
Well I've already 3bet pre, he might 4bet AQ sometimes but more often that not he'll flat the 3bet I think.
Well he doesn't raise because he doesn't know I'm as strong as AK, he knows I can have weaker value hands and bluffs and he knows if he raises there's very little I can call with. He's not gonna be scared of getting outdrawn cos the number of safe river cards massively outweigh the ones that are dangerous or stop him getting paid. Again even if he is 'scared' there's no point raising cos he can't get called by many worse hands and flatting keeps in all my weak hands and bluffs.
Well tonight was pretty brutal in terms of swings, can't remember a night where I've played so many big pots (winning & losing) or ran hands like TPTK or TP + FD into AA/KK and brick. Despite only a small win, on 1 of my tables I had my biggest ever stack on a cash table of just shy of £120 @ 20NL.
I did the old set over set trick on DTM but then he returned the favour a little later by set over setting me.
I played for about 4 hours, 6tabling 20NL and 30NL and finished with a profit of +£25.38 so it's not all doom and gloom but it could have been so much more if I hadn't been coolered and bad beat to death. Big positives to come back winning though.
Good to see ya back playing cash mate and the BR starting to creep up again
I joined one of your tables for about 5 mins last night when i was bored and said hi but think you musta been on a few tables at the time and didnt notice
Cheers Arazi, yeh sorry was 6tabling and didn't even notice you appear on my table but would have been in mini view anyway.
I was just telling someone about this hand earlier so thought I'd post it. Just to show it wasn't all one way traffic last night, here is the most brutal cooler I've seen for a looong time.
Played DTD tonight and have just bust out of my last one. MTTs can be so freaking tilting sometimes, how you can be crushing then in the space of like 4 hands get coolered, lose a flip, lose a flip and boom, you've gone from cruising with 60xBB to out in like <2 mins. The other two, I can't remember my exits but they weren't pretty, they were mostly me making moves.
Meh, played the DTD every week this month and despite FT'ing the £1 game once, I don't think I got a combined score <100 once lol.
On the bright side, I played that Syndicate Freeroll again tonight and sadly the bet lost so our 2000 chips were worth about £1.25 but I managed to chip up a bit and cash for £7.44 so at least I freerolled the DTD where I played like a donkey
Off to de-tilt over a bit of Dragon Age on the Xbox
Rather ironic that you blame bad beats and coolers for not winning more, yet you win a £61 pot through coolering some other chap. Posted by calcalfold
Lol well that's not irony but yeah that's why I posted that and said it was to show that it wasn't just one way traffic. I could post hands like raising AT getting called by QJ and it coming AKT, or getting it in pre AK v AJ and losing etc but it's boring. Only posted that one cos it's just brutal.
I got coolered and bad beat more than I dished it out. Don't get me wrong I'm happy with the result, it's always good to have a winning session despite variance kicking you in the chops.
Decided to play the main and mini tonight for a change.
Did pretty rubbish in the Mini, yoyo'd my stack up and down a bit a few times by winning a race/losing a race/winning a race/losing a race etc. Never really got going, think my high point was 5k and that was when I took my first and only bounty. Eventually bust jamming KJs over a minraise and not getting there V 22. So got 1 head for £2.46
Did a bit better in the Main, got off to a half decent start then just ploughed on nicking small pots here and there along with winning my 70/30s and the like.
Thought I'd post the only hand that was out of the norm and wasn't just blind steal, value bet, value bet blah blah.
Obv never folding Q9o in the CO at this stage. Float the flop cos there are just so few 7x or OPs in his range and I don't think he'd donkbet them anyway so think it's smaller PPs and FDs. Blank turn and his bet gets weaker (smaller). Blank river (relative to his range) and again an even weaker bet, his line just makes no sense to have any proper hand of value, so I ship

I've posted the following hand on the show thread (although doubt they're gonna show it now) which is the one that left me with a bowl in the ME. Not sure what I think about it still, villian is gonna be shoving ridic wide with 6xBB on the BTN and I've seen him shove some real trash in previous orbits. I know I'm never gonna be in THAT great shape unless he shows up with a weaker Kx or weaker Tx but with stacks so shallow, I think I had to go for it here. Winning the pot would make me CL with 21 left, but twas not to be...

Ended up having to stick the rest of my chips in with K8 in the next hand and was flopped almost dead by AJ on AJx to bust 21st. Still please to have cashed and made a small profit on the night. You sure gotta run mighty good in that MTT to go deep.
Lambert180 0 21 £29.17
So £16.50 of BIs and £31.63 worth of cashes makes for a small profit of £15.30
Thanks for the kind words Trev This seems life a lifetime ago. You're at the 6max, right Trev? I hope you make it too Geldy, was good fun sharing a table with you at SPT Brum, although I remember you saying it's tricky making weekend commitments. Posted by Lambert180
Indeed it was, although after your sucessful bluff it was all downhill for me
Family are travelling, so I get to go
Satted in tonight, and with my other cashes in the SPT semi the weekend is all paid for - so I'll be freerolling!
KT vs 55, think I wait for a better spot, if we can have another 10BB behindin the turbo I'm happier calling. Also prob call if he's shoved from SB to our BB.
Flop is great given we've nit hit yet, turn is fantastic, shame you missed all 16 outs on the river!

Well yeah another 10xBB behind would be nice lol but this turbo is stupidly short stacked. Another 10xBB would give me 100k and not a single player had close to 100k at this point. As I say, winning this pot makes me CL, so I'd be CL despite only having like 13xBB lol.... that's what it's like.
But yeah saw flop and thought 'mmm that's pretty much as good as it gets without hitting', turn comes and I think 'boom great turn, how can I not win this now?!'... sigh lol.
Got another cash session in tonight. 6tabling just 20NL this time for I think just shy of 4 hours. Maybe it's just variance as it is only a sample size of like 12 hours worth of 6tabling but 20NL just seems SO much softer than 30NL, it probably helps that there are so many more tables running and the player pool is so much more diverse than 30NL but there just seem to be so many people happy to stack off light.
Having said that, it was a very modest winning session tonight cos I played the first hour of the session like a complete donkey so spent the next 3 hours playing catch up.
Here's a few examples of how badly I played....
After the flop raise I think shoving the river is just SO bad. It might even be able to fold tbh, but should never be putting in any more money than a call

This hand I was massively frustrated with myself cos I used the full time bar, and during them 10 seconds I spent the whole time saying 'ffs, it's a boat, it's a boat'. This is definitely a fold no questions.

This is almost definitely the worst call of the night... I really should have shoved the turn in which case it's just a bad beat, again I was using the time bar up thinking 'shove or flat, shove or flat', I went with flat in the end. Once I'd done that, the river is the easiest fold in the world cos his ship is just Qx 100% of the time.

So I basically gifted away 3 BIs myself there but still managed to come away with a small profit of £14.49. It's really frustrating to look at it that way, cos if I'm really on my A-game I probably come away £40-£50 better off but yeh, always got to stay focussed.
All them terrible hands came at the start of the session so started off in a bit of a hole and really happy to have turned it round.
Yes I was going to say about hand 1. If you are not 3betting (albeit folding to 4b) on the flop. Nor raising the turn, why does the river become a shove?
That said, you have already considred this, so meh.
67. might fold with reads, perhaps even without. Only beating A9 imo on the river.
