DAY 3 Played alot better today learning quickly that patience is key at this level. Still one or two silly errors that cost me but overall much happier. One thing I need to develop though is extracting max value from my strong hands as on several occasions I missed out big style! Will post an example below, when the jack falls on the turn im thinking he could have the straight so check instead of betting again, this is happening alot when 3 to a flush or straight are on the board im convinced they have got there and so scared to fire another bullet, Any help on this would be much appreciated!!

66 - I might actually overbet on flop so about 25p as your hand is so disguised and ANY ace will NOT fold, as played turn is great, river especially when checked to is a 100% bet, checking is burning money at NL4, you hit sets very rarely so not getting MAXIMUM reward is criminal.
Making slow but steady progress which im pleased with. Still running quite well which is a big help!! I no im going to get some run bad at some point but am prepared for that. Question for the day, Im about to begin my session and am wondering is the standard generally better on a weekday day as opposed to a weekday night or weekend?? or is there till enough value out there to make it worth while??

I have to be cruel to be kind here (based on the one hand i have seen, the 66 hand). When you make these big hands you need to get max value, otherwise youl never make any profit. Think about this, when you bet the flop, hands he may call with are, 7-8, 9-10, A-x etc . . . When the turn peels a 10, so you are now only behind to 7-8, im glad you bet here as you cant automatically put him on 7-8, so you bet for value i hope!
The river was played awfully tbh, why check? what are we afraid of, 7-8 unlikely(as he would lead river most of the time) Does he have kq, q-9, most definitely not! There is 0 reason to check that river(nothing to fear). So sick that the pot is so small and begs the question . . . How do i get all his money?? V difficult to answere, I am allways an advocate of "never open limp", opening the pot would have granted you to his whole stack.
I have a challenge at the moment with my brother, turning 100 into a 1000 within a reasonable time, and im nearly there!! so if i complete the challenge, i will post it here on the forum, Im not trying to sound like a cocky now-it-all but im sure it will help you, and others in your criteria.
Edit: i dont play on sky, but if the players are better in the morning(i doubt it though) just play tight, play possition, and tag the good v the bad players, but i suspect the weekends is where the ££££ is at.

Excellent response mate thankyou, I need this constructive criticism if im ever going to improve. I have looked back at the 66 hand and agree i played it badly. This is one area of my game that needs improvement (how to extract max value for big hands) Good luck with your challenge look forward to seeing it on the forum.
DAYS 6-7 As before still moving in the right direction slowly but surley!! Still looking for some advice on a spreadsheet, Graph or someway of tracking my sessions?? Plus What profit should we be looking to make per hour? Or are we happy with any kind of profit. Thought would be welcome.

hi wayne, as i am grinding @ nl4 myself i,m no expert, but myself i,m happy if i can finish the session with any profit, as i know only too well how easy it is to end up losing sometimes, even when you feel you,ve played ok. i,m sure others will have diferent views as to what you should/could be making. as tiger woods says, "a w,s a w." (a win,s a win.)....lol
Worst Day of challenge so far, Lots of play bad + some run bad = Big hole in BR!!!!!
Lost around 4 buy ins today mostly through my own errors. Need to be more patient and wait for the big hands to come. Tried at bit of HU today and really enjoyed it although was a buy in down through that, not sure if playing HU is a good idea at my level of experience?? Is there more variance involved?? Will post in General Poker thread also for more advice on the subject. Anyways back to the grind. Good Luck at the tables.
hi wayne, not played much hu myself wayne, so can,t help there, i am guessing though there will be some who only play hu, so beware of them. u really do have 2 b patient, especially over a long session,as you have found out. every little mistake does add up at the end of play. i,ve made plenty myself so i know only too well. what i do,especially with any big ones is to try and learn from them, and hopefully not to make the same ones again. keep positive, u r still good at £172
Not played a great deal over last few days, but have slowly started to grind the BR back in the right direction!! Will try to post a few more hands to get some honest feed back as I think im making the same mistakes and not learning from them!! Does anyone else tend to keep notes at NL4?? At the min I only separate players into Value and Grinder category?? Good luck at the tables
Have finally managed to bump the BR beyond the £200 mark!! Feel im playing quite well at the min but have realised I still have so much to learn. Have been playing alot of HU SNG at the £1 and £2 levels and have found these quite soft so something I may consider pursuing of the next couple of weeks. Although probably BR for NL8 I have no intention moving up the cash levels at the min as i dont think my game is good enough at present, the plan is to continue to grind NL4 and the micro HU SNG till the end of the month try and make another £20-£30 profit and reasses at the start of March. Big thanks to all those that have posted in the thread. Good luck at the tables
doing well mate i make notes on players at nl4 - you'll probably see them at nl8 at some point in the future. mine are detailed as far as possible to start with (hand/s example), then tailored to a few words after some time.

Good Advice mate, Think I need to make my notes a little more detailed rather than just grinder or value, not so much for NL4 but think it will be a good habit to get into if and when i move up the levels!! As of today im going to start recording my sessions in more detail breaking it down into hands played time of day played BB/100 hands etc. Just a quickie regarding BB/100 what sort of return are we looking at to be classed as beating/crushing levels, Posted a similar question in General poker thread but with little response any advice welcome.
Decent session today at NL4 felt I played pretty average but ran unbelievably well, Applologies to all the players I sucked out on!! Played a couple of HU SNG and broke even, really feel that HU does improve your game through the betting streets and would advise any newbie to give it ago at the low stakes, have tried to turbo levels but found the standard 10 min levels suit my game best. Will maybe start to open a couple of NL8 tables up just to observe and make notes over the next few days. Good luck at the tables.

don't worry about your oppo folding, there stations - they won't fold
Just make profit and work towards moving up levels, any profit is good
reach £200 - take a crack at NL8 - rinse & repeat
