Question for you.

There are still a good % of players who use the old browser version of Sky Poker. It does the job just fine.

The Browser Versoin and the new Download, which has been here nearly 18 months now, both do the same job - same tables, same players, same Tourneys.

The Download version, however, as most who use it will know, is faster, better, slicker, much better for multi-tabling, & updates everything faster.

So, do you use the new Download Client?

If "no", why not?

If you wish to try the Download version, just go to the Home Page - there is a big red button that says "DOWNLOAD NOW". Just click it!

I always use the download client except when I use the browser version... ;-)

The download client is noticeably quicker and less prone to crashing due to a browser issue when I am also browsing the internet when playing, i.e. always.

Also the download client tables take up significantly less screen space due to not needing the address bar at the top.

I've recently started watching the live stream through the download client for the same reason.

The only time I use the browser version now is if I'm on the forums and quickly want to check on a table, rail a friend, etc.

Ok, to counter balance this thread, why play on the D/L ATM?

I agree it is much slicker than the web version BUT.....

We have recently been informed that it is being 'upgraded' soon, and for a few players on here who are still having issues with the current one, this can not come soon enough. I am not saying that playing on the web version will alleviate these issues but some players on here have still not got the full benefit of the D/L version for whatever reason so are probably reluctant to use it

I am not trying to be argumentative for the sake of it but just giving my POV.

I prefer the download because it is normally more stable. Sometimes I use the web version if I see a tourney I want to be in at the last second, but then try to switch to the download at the earliest oppertunity.
But when this happens I go on FB and cry!

Thats a loss of Network despite everything else running fine and my modem looking like this!

    YOU DID ASK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tables in the download are always the right size when they load, I find sometimes when I'd load tables from the browser, it would be a random size that missed off the chat box and things so would have to resize. And yeah as Machka said, tables take up less space because they don't need the address bar, so I can 6table in miniview with no overlap on the download, but could not on browser.

Lobby updates faster, tables load faster, the 'my account' loads faster. Essentially everything is faster and smoother.

Now now ladies. Tikay was only asking a question as to the pros and cons of the download client versus the browser.

Lol, genuine question, curiosity got the better of me, Mr AMY, because Sky Poker are puzzled why more players do not use the download.

You'd be amazed how many still use the Browser all the time. Astonished, in fact.

One of dem mysteries, & I like to know the reasons for things I don't understand.

Psst - nothing up my sleeve, honest guv, wanna buy a watch?

I would imagine it's just people who either don't move with the times and are just happy as they are, it's not broke so they don't fix it (although it is broke a bit lol)

    OR

They play very rarely and don't see the benefit. Before I got into playing online quite reguarly and I only played very occasionally, I always prefered to play on sites which didn't force you to download a program to play because I didn't want programs cluttering up my system when I wouldn't be using it very often.

    Download.

Before it came in I had problems with playing here almost fortnightly, and the site crashed as a hole at least once a month.

Since it came in I've only had problems with it twice myself, and can count on 1 hand how many times the site as a whole has crashed.

    --------------------------

The best thing about the skypoker software, browser or download, is the mini view facility. I've yet to find a site that has anything as good as skys miniview. I hope they don't remove it when stretchy tables come in.
