Can anyone please explain watt this is about? I might not be the brightest bulb in the box, but reading this on another thread my enthusiasm for the forum was dimmed. I sent Trip5 a message asking for illumination, however I am still in the dark. Please help relight my enthusiasm with an explanation. If I hadnt got the MRI scans as evidence to the contrary I would have thought i was brainless.

Yesterday i was getting beat up on the £3.30 & £5.00 Dym tables, a horrible mixture of card dead, bad decisions/timing & some cooler situations, eg. AA v QQ & Q on river & A3 spades in BB villain in the cut off just flat calls, flop comes down A34 hearts, chk chk is followed by 3 on turn, at this point am wondering how to get paid :-) Bet,raise & reraise all in follow & mission accomplished, am so glad he must have flopped the flush. Am expecting the chips to come my way but instead am looking at the Tournament information screen saying I finished 5th. He had only had AA :-(

Then I only went & decided to go & swim in deeper waters on the £11 Dym tables. mad, stupid, insane I will let you decide. But i don't know whether because it was Sunday but to be honest the play was not a great deal different.

So this morning instead of going for another MRI scan just to check I was not missing that thing between my ears, I ventured onto the £11 tables again. played 3 won 3, even had the pleasure of a couple of games with JohnConnor whose Dym ABC guide I had read through again just for that last minute inspiration.

What a difference a day makes, this wasn't deep water it was "shark infested". Played quite a few games & at the end of the day, really happy to be £27.00 better off. Totally different playing with these guys & I have to say it was fun ( not really the right word but it will do).

After last weeks fiasco in the early stages of the DTD i have only gone & registered for it again this week thinking I have got to defend my title in the Take on Tikay.

I don't think I had better play tomorrow, a visit to A & E might be better advised.

This thread seems to be taking on a very fishy theme, as last night i felt very much a fish out of water having registered again for the DTD. Bearing in  mind that my poker life has basically been spent playing Sng's where I feel comfortable with stack sizes in relation to blinds, bet sizing & positional play, however, here I was in the pretty murky waters of mtt's.

The 7.15 deepstack started fine, even chatting in the chat box, hats off to slykllist tho who at the same time was cooking some moroccan meal I couldnt even pronounce, let alone cook.

When the 7.45 deepstack got underway I didnt even look in the chat box, but great start doubling up with AK v KK in the 1st hand & was in the top 20 of both events. Once the Take on Tikay started I took Maxallys  advice & switched to mini view, all fine & I found out the benefit of synchronised breaks, call of nature & a cup of coffee. I had thought at one point the empty bottle on the side might find another use :-)

From here things went downhill fast i felt like I was drowning, all of a sudden I longed to be swimming with the Dym sharks. Should I bet call or raise, what size ? I must have missed the ch865 Sky poker school lesson on play in the middle parts of mtt's.

So from being nicely placed in all 3 I found myself busted out pretty quickly. Oh well all part of the learning curve, but if anyone can give me any advice on changing gears & the middle stages of mtt's where a lot of people just seem to shove I would be grateful.

Putting off the MRI scan for a bit, its back to swimming with the sharks.

    Hi Woogie,

I am pretty new to the DTD monday session too, and need a few tips too! especially

    1) Do lots of people call pretty light in these tournies cos they are low stakes or what....cos they certainly do me!!......ie Deep into the touney and I am forced to push pocket 88's from sb with 12 bb stack left v early limper and he calls out of his 20 bb stack with QJo !!.......This is not the exception it seems...this appears to be the norm!!......... I can't believe this is how to win these deepstacks by pure gambling..but heyho what do I know...
Would like to hear from fellow dtd'ers on this one
    and :-
    2) I too cannot get along with this mini view mullarkey! I wish sky would let you resize screen. I find I play the two early deepstacks normal screen and then try to juggle tikay mini view in , and i just don't seem to grasp the nettle! Hence I always seem to crash out early in one of these tournies because of this..............Maybe I should have all games on mini view, .... but I just don't get on with them.

Anyway nice to read your blog and wil continue to look in

and good luck, and will prob run in to you on the tables next week

    Hi rusty,

Looks like we are in the same boat lol,

I have a feeling resizeable tables might be on sky's agenda for future upgrades.
Am afraid I cant answer the other questions about DTD so hopefully some kind people out there have some clues. Nice you enjoy the thread & i hope you enjoying sky as much as i am :-)

Good luck to you as well & hopefully be in DTD next week if we get some answers lol

Am like a little kid with a new toy this morning, was reading another thread & Belsibub had put up a link on how to set up an additional screen, ok that's easy for most of you, but I haven't joined the 21st Century yet!!. Having a monitor in the garage I hooked it up to my laptop & with a bit of messing I have it all working great, all I can say is for a change I cant wait to  play 2/3 tables at the same time :-)

Have to wait a little while tho am trying the dym ladder challenge again, currently playing the £5.50. But typing this at the same time on the other screen -  wow what a difference !!

Yesterday was spent on the £11 dym tables, managed to win 6/7 so real happy with that but needed  it after such a bad day Sunday, playing so much tighter & it seems to be paying off (that'l be the kiss of death). Am really looking forward to playing with my "New" toy today & just cashed in the £5.50 ladder challenge so my next £11 Dym is for that as well .

ps. Has anybody any thoughts on the last couple of posts on this thread please with regard to mtt's I really would appreciate any help. Cheers

    Morning woogie.

Dual monitors are the absolute nuts! It really helps, I confess.

Oddly, I manage fine on one for poker, but for work, I use two, one for my Microsoft Outlook (business) e-Mails, & the other for everything else. Really helps.

Good to see you are persevering with the Diary. The test of these things is if you can keep them going beyond the first few months. I have one which shortly reaches it's 5th birthday, which just shows that not only do I talk a lot of nonsense, but I write a lot, too....

    Keep it up woogers.

    Morning Tikay,

I never said you talk a lot, and what you talk/type  as far as I am concerned is any thing but nonsense. (Omg what a creep)  lol
Be sure to let us know the date & we can get your diary a cake & wish it happy birthday.
As far as my diary is concerned, as long as people like reading the nonsense I type then it may well last for a while yet :-)

A different start to today, no 30p Dym. For the past few days I have been starting the morning off with the ladder challenge before I start playing on the £11 Dym tables. for 2 reasons really 1) that I am happy with my game before i sit on an £11 table. 2) £11 tables dont fill up quickly at that time of the day.I have already said on a previous post what I thought about the standard of play on the 30p tables.

I presume the cost to Sky of putting on that table exceeds the 30p it recieves in rake. Personally I think it is a big shame, I started on sky with £10 & learnt my way around the poker on sky playing these tables, feeling comfortable with the 33 BI I had, now it would only be 16. Even when I suffered a crisis of confidence, I dropped back to that level. However playing that level was far better standard than any "freeroll" table I have ever played. Never did I have to wait long for the table to fill (unlike other levels). Tikay himself said that the behind the scenes changes to the software meant that Sky had more capacity than would ever be needed (unless of course sky is to go global & needs the capacity).

I hope the recreational players who have no intention of performing a bankroll challenge & are quite happy to play the game we all love at the lower levels are not forced away with Sky's decision to Double the minimum cost of a game of poker.
If it hadn't been for the 30p Dym tables I don't think I would still be playing & enjoying my time on Sky poker.

Another different start to the day, just read dev's challenge update, 1st bad day but I know he has the game/desire to come back from that.
Am glad that Scouse Red's knee op went ok, reminded me of the time I had mine to repair a torn cartilage. 3 weeks before the operation I had spent the night in Torbay hospital having suffered from a "suspected stroke", having spent the night undergoing tests ECG, blood pressure etc I was released & told to make an MRI scan on my brain.
This I did, and was told I would be contacted with the results but I heard nothing. The day of the knee operation arrived, eat or drink  nothing from midnight the night before & be at the hospital for day surgery at 8.00am, my daughter dropped me up there & I proceeded to sit & wait for the next 4 hours till I was called to see the anesthetist. Nice woman, but she then said "Oh i see you have had an MRI scan & it shows an undefined finding so I wont be able to give you a general anesthetic." We discussed the options available one of which was to have an epidural , am not happy about the idea of watching the surgery but **** lets get it over with.
So within the hour I am all gowned up, the surgeon has put the arrow on the right knee ( after I had told him which one!! ) & I am on the trolley all ready to go when a nurse comes along with some bad news, there are no beds for the night available & as I am about to be paralized from the waist down for the next 6 - 8 hours It wont be possible to perform the operation. So 15 minutes later i am fully dressed & stood in the hospital car park phoning my daughter for a lift home.
The next day I phoned the hospital to try & speak to the consultant I had seen about my "suspected stroke" but unfortunately she is on holiday. With not having had the knee op I am able to go back to work the following day, where i receive a phone call from another consultant at the hospital.
"Hello Mr Roberts, yes I can confirm the MRI scan shows that you indeed did have a stroke & at the same time there is an incidental finding, you also have a Brain Tumour"  That's the NHS for you.
So however bad the beats in poker seem, there are worse beats in life.

totaly agree mike there are a lot worse things in life that can happen than a bad beat or loss in poker, and if we get to the point were we arnt enjoying the game because were losing too much money and feel like its out of control then we shouldnt be playing it. nothing wrong with a little moan now and again but we do have to keep things into perspective. Life is too short and we may as well have fun while we are here and playing poker can be part of that fun :)

I am going to have a moan m8 i should never have been beaten in that game, its the last time I tell you that "Shoving" is the best policy at that stage of a Dym. And a little bit less of the "Life is too short" bit as well if you don't mind!! lol
But totally agree m8 & the game WAS fun :-)

A big thank you to Sky's profanity filter for getting my day off to a start with a smile.

Ever since I was enlisted as the 101st member of Team Hit Squad I have been a proud squaddie & nailed my colours to the mast figuratively speaking. (could be painful if you get it wrong).
Yesterday I was playing a Dym & an opponent asked what the (T.H.S.) stood for in the location section on my avatar, I duly explained I was a loyal squaddie in Team Hit Squad.
This morning to eradicate any doubts as to where my allegiance lay I tried to change the said area to (Team Hit Squad). Saving the information I was then informed that "obscenities" were not allowed - WHAT?? All I can think is that the "profanity filter" is already a member of one of the other noble teams.
So Hitman, if you read this Captain I suggest you get in touch with the powers that be within Sky, as in my opinion this is definitely a case of UNLAWFUL DISCRIMINATION

I think the Sky poker god's are trying to tell me that Sunday should be a day of rest. Succesive Sunday's now my bankroll has really suffered, whereas during the week sees steady if slow progress. Mind you having begun the month with a bankroll of £10.00 i have got to be happy with £163.97 & £25.27 in c4p for 2,106 points so far this month.

I appreciate that I am taking a risk now by playing the £11 Dym's with only 15 buy ins, but feeling confident with my play at that level & as long as I don't play sunday's I should be ok. So if any sharks read this please be gentle with me.

Can't get my head around the different increments on the c4p's widget either but they must be like that for a reason. I mean 1500 - 2000 points is worth £9 yet the next from 2000 - 2500 is only worth £6.

Looking forward to the forum DTD tonight ( Never thought I would say that) to see whether having dual monitors helps me to play better or even if it only helps me to read the comments in the chat boxes. ( I wonder what Slyklyst is cooking tonight??) Good luck to all playing in it tonight & have fun. :-)
