Seeing as there's so many personal challenge threads, I thought I'd share mine with you all :)

As you may or may not know, I'm new to Sky Poker and have managed to live of the free tournament entries I started off with. So, my challege is to try and make this little bank roll a monster or simply make it last as long as possible and have some fun along the way.

I'm a couple of days in to it and managed to cash £20.66 from my initial free entries, so obviously that is what I'll be starting with.

I'm only ever going to risk 10% of my bank roll at any given time which means I won't be starting with cash games until I can afford 100BBs at 4NL (£40 total bank roll)

---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------

Anyhow, on we go with the ups and downs so far...

£20.66 £6.00 BROUGHT IN
£19.56 -£1.10 Tournament
£19.26 -£0.30 Sit & Go
£19.46 £0.20 Sit & Go
£18.86 -£0.60 Sit & Go
£17.71 -£1.15 Sit & Go
£16.56 -£1.15 Sit & Go
£17.41 £0.85 Sit & Go

TOTAL = £17.41
DAY CHANGE = -£3.25
TOTAL CHANGE = -£3.25

---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------

So yeah, I'm negative so far but only by a little so I'll still be trooping on. By the way, I have A-level exams coming up so I won't be able to plat as much as I'd like but after that I more or less have the whole summer free!

LET'S DO THIS THING!

    Oh, and another thing. I managed to win free entry to the 5K open coming up on Tuesday (15th May) so you never know, I might run good in that! I highly doubt it though, but I'll be trying my best with a few cups of tea at hands (in hope that I can last a few cups that is)

    Good luck.

    The normal SNG structure is awful on this site, only thing that is profitable for me is DYMs

    Awesome! I should be able to achieve it if I carry on only risking 10% of my bank roll at a time in DYMs and then progress to the cash tables. It may take some time but by only risking 10% I SHOULD ensure I don't go bust. I've been reading through "Zen and The Art of Poker" too for the first time which seems to be helping in some strange way. Hopefully soon enough my "nowt" will become a sum similar to yours :D

    DYMs are the way forward for me until I can afford 100 cash BBs at 10% or less of my bank roll. So until I have £40. Slowly but surely I will improve in both skill and bank roll!

    yes you can do it if you def stick with the 10% or less br, I got it up from nothing to about £130 twice and blew most of it by getting the bigger buy in syndrome and had to start again but im back up and sticking to it this month if i did that from when i started i reckon id be upto £400, so def stick with the br rule or you just end up grinding again which is a real drag. If you wanna bump it up then play in the £20-£50 garanteed rebuy tornys for £1 just dont keep rebuying if you go out play another. You only get around 20-30 players but can bink around £30-£50 if you can take one down. GL buddy will be watchin to see how you get on :)

    Good luck mate.

    This first bit will always be hardest especially in the DYM's where the rake is pretty awful, as you move up to £3.30 they start becoming more profitable although once you get around £50 I'd advise switching to cash where there's much more to be had ;)

    What I've been trying to say is I'll move on to 4NL when 100BBs (£4) is equal to 10% of my bank roll, which needs to be (£40).

    Another slightly positive day, can't complain really. Plenty of time to improve :)

    £18.51 £0.85 BROUGHT IN DYM
    £19.36 £0.85 Sit & Go DYM
    £18.21 -£1.15 Tournament Guaranteed
    £17.06 -£1.15 Sit & Go DYM
    £17.91 £0.85 Sit & Go DYM
    £16.76 -£1.15 Sit & Go DYM
    £17.61 £0.85 Sit & Go DYM
    £18.46 £0.85 Sit & Go DYM
    £19.31 £0.85 Sit & Go DYM
    TOTAL = £19.31
    DAY CHANGE = £0.80
    TOTAL CHANGE = -£1.35

    So yeah, still hanging on in there for an overall profit but I'm sure it will come soon enough. I have A-Level exams coming up in the next three weeks so I'm going to try and force myself to revise for those more than playing poker for the time being so I can get them out of the way and switch my priorities around for the Summer.

    Obviously I'll still be fitting in a little bit of poker ahah...

    I've only managed to fit the one DYM in today which has lead me to a continued loss but never mind. I did write a post before this discussing the percentages of £1.15 DYMs but it didn't seem to post and I can't be bothered doing the calculations again but what I was saying was along the lines of you can win 75% of what you play and still only win 15% of what you have risked which isn't really the best of revenues.

    Anyway, here's the colourful stuff for the day...

    £19.31 £0.85 BROUGHT IN DYM
    £18.16 -£1.15 Sit & Go DYM
    TOTAL = £18.16
    DAY CHANGE = -£1.15
    TOTAL CHANGE = -£2.50

    Total Change % (on the theme of the previous unposted post) = -12.1%

    The thing with things like DYMs is that the revenue will never be that great per game. If you're doing really well at DYMs you're ROI (return on investment) will be 10% and that is REALLY good, and that means, you stand to make about 11p everytime you play a £1.15.

    So yeah it sounds terrible but the only way you can make decent money from these formats is by putting in alot of volume. So for example, 11p per game sucks, but play 1000 in a month and you've just made £110 and earned 1000 poker points to give yourself an extra tenner.

    I should point out that it is by no means easy to get a 10% ROI and most people will never get there.

    Well at the moment I can't fit a great amount of poker in but in around 3 weeks I have up until September free... how convenient ahah

    Over 4 days and about 20 games I've made a 12% loss which isn't substantial and my play can only improve, my win/loss ratio is 11 wins to 10 losses and excluding the tournament entries that's 11 wins to 8 losses. Sounds good on paper but when numbers are considered, that's a loss.

    Anyway, I'm not complaining. I'm enjoying my game either way and looking forward to trying to make a profit with the project through the summer :)

    Another day of just the one DYM and another day of a loss, never mind though... (my usual saying now ahahh) 5K open tomorrow along with the new player freeroll, see how bad I can do in those! :D

    Today's colours though:

    £18.16 -£1.15 BROUGHT IN DYM
    £17.01 -£1.15 Sit & Go DYM
    TOTAL = £17.01
    DAY CHANGE = -£1.15
    TOTAL CHANGE = -£3.65
    TOTAL CHANGE % = -17.67%

    Red all round at the moment, I have noticed that the first game of every day I seem to lose so my plan is to not to play just the one DYM even if I don't have the time for a few. It's enough for me to get in to a rythm or none at all.
