New Cash Tables - 'Short Shove'

Hi everyone

As you know, we've done some work on creating different table formats including deeper-stacked cash tables which are popular but now we'ew trialling some at the opposite end of the scale and they are called SHORT SHOVE tables.

You can find these tables easily as they have their own 'short' filter on the cash lobby. They are fun tables where it's pretty much all or nothing when you get involved in a hand, based on the fact that you can only buy-in with 5 big blinds. No more, no less.

They are great fun and certainly will have different tactics to playing deep! We're sure people will soon work out their own systems for this.

One interesting thing is that they can suit lower bankroll players and put them on a more level playing field with other players because you can only start with the same stack.

So we are starting with:

- 10p/20p (£1 to play)
- 25p/50p (£2.50)
- 50p/£1 (£5)
- £1/£2 (£10)

So as we said, £1/£2 buy-in is akin to 5p/10p on 'regular' tables. This reminds us, if you don't want these to appear in your lobby, click on the 'regular' filter and they will disappear.

Sound like fun? - then give them a go.

We hope you enjoy them!

Thanks

Hope you're not gonna snap delete everyones post who says exactly the same as I just did. Might as well close the thread now.

    Good idea though.

I really dont see the point of this?

You are charging 5% rake too, so I can't see how these are beatable?? Am i missing something?

We realise these might not be everone's cup of tea but others will love them.

Not everyone likes DYMs / hypercharged / Bounty Hunters, others like them.

People have the choice to play them or not. As with all the trials we do, if they are not popular, we'll stop doing them. Many of the most popular games on Sky Poker started with trials like this.

    Thanks

I am not a cash player, but I am sure these kind of tables would only work if the rake were lowered. Keeping the same rake will only be a bigger gain for Sky Poker from the micro players.

They wont. If anyone can show a profit at this, I'll give them the money myself.

Why say changes will come in, in the order they are most needed......

Then bring this out ahead of antes?

Hi Dohhhhhhh - you might be surprised!

Also, this genuinely has nothing to do with antes. It uses existing functionality and so does not impact any other developments.

    Why they not on 2p/4p?

To be honest, i like the idea. But i think maybe a buy-in of anything upto 20BB's. With a slight reduction in rake?

Hi Oynutter - we may do these later but because it was a trial we just chose some 'mid-level' tables first. Especially because the buy-ins are already low too.

Again, this is something we can look at look at adjusting based on how these go.

    Thank you.

I'd imagine at 5bb max, these are the cash equivalent of a frenzy tournament, where there is no skill involved and just a question of making it past the rebuy period and hoping your hands hold up in the freeze out period.Still, some people will play them I'm sure.

Played exactly the same thing on another site, wasn't a fan, and can't see them adding anything to Sky Poker.

If anything, they're going to take the people who want to gamble away from the regular cash tables, which is a bad thing for the players (we have to play stronger players if all the gamblers are on the short tables). I honestly can't see any benefit of having these tables.

I also think you'll have to drop the rake from 5% if you want anyone to play them, as these will be unbeatable otherwise.
