It'll sink or swim on it's own merits. Probably swim IMO.

I don't think for one minute that serious players will see these as a money making opportunity, and I don't expect to see forum regulars sat at these for any length of time. But there are players out there who just want to gamble, they might like the idea.

Imagine a thread like this introducing Roulette HU STTs (the ones that already exist). The forum would go ballistic and insist that it's a ridiculous idea and that nobody would ever play them. However, as we all know, the reality is that the (100% guaranteed unbeatable) RR STTs actually do pretty good business.

I'm all for Sky wanting to add new features etc. I just think this is the wrong direction to be going in, particularly given the feedback from the forum regarding 'must haves'. IMO it is features such as this that mean Sky, perhaps unfairly, doesn't hold the gravitas or respect among the wider poker audience that it deserves.

From a business perspective, I guess I can see the logic behind this and the Russian Roulettes. With Sky Poker being under the same umbrella as Vegas, Bingo and Bet, such features do probably make poker more accessible. I think the forumites and other regulars would just like to see more urgent matters dealt with first but I'm sure they are in the pipeline...

The main danger for the cash regs here could be that the uber-fish are now more drawn to these crazy games, but we shall see.

Had a spin on these earlier, just to see what they were like.
Can't see anything good about them tbh, just really boring after about 5 minutes.

I imagine it's inevitably gonna get down to a few people getting playable stacks and then turning into a proper cash games where the guys who are up to 50BB can take advantage of the 5BB stacks.

Kinda like when there's a forum NLO game and blinds are 2p/4p but everyone has like £50+, 100+... wild for a bit, the unlucky ones reload lots of new people come along and eventually some have monster stacks and can play properly.

This is exactly what happens. Have played the same thing on 888, the trick is to always be the table starter, gamble a couple of times so you have a decent stack, then you can start selecting what hands to get your money in with.

I still maintain that lower rake will be needed to have a big enough edge to be profitable on these. There is money to be made from these, although it'll be very swingy.

Cant say i seen them on 888 but havent been on their for about 4 months now.

As many have said much more better things should be in the pipeline. Colour Coded Notes, Auto Reload, sync breaks(respect they are here now so were fine). There are others but i cant think atm.

I might play these between a grinds or tournys just for a bit of tilt release or relaxation.

agree with this, it was my conclusion from the get go.

Any serious poker player will avoid these, with the exception of messing about, playing a forum game or whatever, but i can still see people playing them so will be a benefit to sky most probably.

The only strategy i see is to try and get a decent stack quite quickly, so then you can really pick your spots to swipe everyone's 5bb stack wit the benefit of not risking your's, but nevertheless its still a crab-shoot with hardly any play and therefore IMO not POKER.

The only thing i find is strange is how random this was, i don't think anyone asked for this lol and of all the improvements that would/could increase the traffic on this site, . . . this was not one of them.

Probably the best advice ive ever seen,

"if you have no edge just shove on the guy with Any two cards. take the skill out of the game."

Meh lets all go play roulette i hear theres a system for that.

I find this idea a bit depressing and i hope it doesn't take off. Don't see the point except cynical money making exercise.
For me it kind of goes against the grain of Sky's tv channel which is concentrating on hand analysis and educating players to then be serving this up.

Yeah I completely agree, there's no skill in late stages of a DYM on the bubble when everyone has shove/fold stacks, or times in a fast structured MTT where everyone has about 10BBs, it's just luck ;)
