    THE CURSE OF" MISS CLICK"

    Ciao folks,

Well, a new month appears and optimism is at its highest. I play a BH and with two pair(AJ's) i'm all-in with two others suspecting i'm ahead but against at least one draw. The draw catches....BUSTIDO!!! I'm not unduly hurt. So an early exit and i look for a DYM. Oh dear, no £3.30's but there's a £5.50 needing one player....i'll dive in ......."Miss Click" sniggers mischeviously......four cards are presented to me...."its Omaha!!!".

Now what, i think. Check for rules quickly....I'm sure i copied some notes down from Tikay. Ah, here it is after another three hands pass me by. 'Cards should cooperate with each other'........"is that it?" Cheers Tikay.....

The hands are passing by too quickly for me to read strategy articles, i need to see a top hand and go with it.  All of a sudden i see it,....two pair and a full house on the flop....before i know it, i'm all in and beaten by a flush ....surely not, i think.

    "Miss Click" winks at me...."Gotcha!!"

The cat is metaphorically kicked and i try to recoup my losses unsuccessively but at least with a level playing field. Afterwards, i find a site with basic rules on and print them out along with Sky's. Next time, i'll not embarrass myself so readily methinks........

So folks, you're admittance for the day in the confessional is....

What is your biggest "Miss Click" mistake? (needn't be poker but don't put signing the wedding register!!!)

    Addio...the prof

PS My 'tikayism' is hello and goodbye in a foreign language. Easy start today...italian but "Where's the bill/tolets/ wallet" is not within the scope of this diary. Sorry.

Hi profman, I was playing a $22 game on another site. Was pretty deep and in the top 10 with about 200 left. I had about 250k (I think). I raised in position with some junk and wanted to c-bet the flop but bet an extra digit and bet 110k rather than 10k! This put him all in, flop was KJJ and he tanked for a while before calling with a king. Was very frustrating and there was lots of shouting of fold while he tanked on the flop! I still had a stack and did ok in the tournament but it was a massive dent to my stack.

Keep up the diaries and I have selected the wrong game before a few times, generally selecting limit hold em rather than no limit. Tried to play them but i hate limit poker!

Aloha folk(yes, Hawaiin and i've been ....Go if you get chance!...beautiful)

Well My MISS CLICK post went well. Just Matt admitted to anything to making an error.
***There must be other misclicks, surely? Make me feel better, please!***

You really are just perfect and i'm such a 'klutz'. mind it did give me the opportunity to find out about Omaha hi lo. I apologise to the people i accidentally 'played'(loosely) with in a DYM. They must have thought there was a maniac at the table. After reading the basics, i can see that they must have had a good laugh though. I'm considering contacting Sharkscope to have that £5.50 removed from my losses as unfair(joke Lambert, i know i can't!!)

Tournament play has been better recently(could it be worse) though a cash in a BH with no bounties is a little thin, shall we say. I was happy with my play and cashing in the mini DS last night though kicking myself or not calling three way all-in with AQo which would have won me a massive pot. I'd put it in the clinic but i'd get....

                 "bite his hand off!"
                  "!!!!!"
and the like so i'm making chicken noises as a penance!!

I even tried to multi....two but it's a start! (DTD Forum is just fun so doesn't count). I did it with a MTT and DYM and the strategy may have more pro's than cons, actually.
     ***Your views would be appreciated.***

One rather tilted point for your consideration folks.........i was playing in a dym last night with a player i'd met before. He's a type, shall we say. Very chatty, likes to tell you when you've made a bad call, when he's got you, laughs 'audibly' at 'bad' plays etc. You know the type, i'm sure.
Anyway, we are in the middle of a hand. he limps, i raise and other player moves all-in. He decides to state in the chat box "AK" then tanks before folding. YES!! Yes, we know that sometimes we must make a good, disciplined fold in DYMs and it can be looked upon as a good play but really stating a hand whether it is or not during play really is a disgraceful, ridiculous, short-sighted and bordering on unfair play. Surely he's been playing long enough t know the correct etiquette. Tilt time!!

A few hands later and i'm all in ahead with 7 BB and A9o and called by my friends J7s, believe me, a poor, unnecessary  call and i'm out....to the  flush on river. I hadn't had chance to ask him not to discuss hands during pots so my chat box got bashed with "bad call" but without the "b". He probably thought "ad" meant "astonishingly devilish". HA!
I felt bad that i'd tilted into the chat so pleased that it may look like a compliment!! Ha.

Anyway, what can we do about this lack of etiquette as i'm seeing this a few times now including the vegas rail on a few occasion(one or two 'fans' were commenting on those occasions not the players which caused some argument)?
    ***What is your opinion?***

All the best and may the force be with you.
    .......................prof

PS  By the way, if you haven't read the thread by Bignoise yet then go to it now(after commenting of course). He's a really nice fella who's having some problems at the moment and its so nice to see members rally around. Maybe poker isn't full of blaggards and charletons eh?

    Great reading as usual prof,
I just made an all in call in a £11 Dym a real miss click. The only thing is it wasn't me, honest it was the cat, he likes the warmth of the laptop keyboard & if I don't watch out he walks all over it & by the time I had lifted him off the damage was done.
So £11 down the drain but the cats fine as any vets fees would be a **** of a lot more.
Totally agree about some players manners in the chat box m8, have no idea why people dont just engage brain before using their fingers!
I was the same with multitabling as well prof before I found out how to connect a monitor to the laptop to extend the screen size, so now am completely happy with 2/3 tables ( hasn't helped in the DTD tho I have been awful).

One misclick I have tried to forget for an age was when playing some £1.05 hypers for an afternoon, doing well and maybe winning 7/10 I just kept clicking on the next one available in the lobby.....
Another one fired up, here we go,, hang on, whats that say in the corner... £105 !
I didnt see the missing dot....
I was now in a £105 game with about £150 total in my account, that I had built up playing low stakes MTTs. Had taken an age....
Cue panic stations and find SKYs number, find online help,  no time..  up pops A5in my hand and im already down to 300 chips, I push I get called he has AK I lose.........
I now know where the lobby filters are and this will never happen again..........in theory....

    Hi Woogie

I think the cat would be limping by now with me!! DTDB...brag.... got joint first with HITMAN_RV, our glorious leader,  two weeks ago. He needed to win the last tournament from 15 out to pip me on countback but managed it. A great effort to be sure. Cheers...Prof

PS Nice post on Bignoise, mate.

Well as I said in my other post I use keybinds for my betting as part of a 3rd party program that has a few useful features for multi tabling, like auto opening my tables tiled, buying me in and setting my bet sizes to preset things so that I don't have to mess with stuff unless I want to make small changes to a bet size etc.

I've made a few good misclicks with it over time, that includes folds, calls and raises. My worst that I recall was when I was typing a message on another table but had forgotten to click "escape" to shut down my keybindings, and my mouse got knocked while was typing just as another table became active. I have my space bar set to set my slider to all in and my D button to bet, and so while I was typing I 4bet all in preflop with 29os and got called by aces which I promted cracked by hitting a 2 on the flop and a 9 on the river. I laughed but turned a shade of red at the same time, and the guy spouted a string of abuse at me in the chat box, and refused to believe a misclick story. hehe

My other favourite miss click story with poker was actually not long after I started poker, and had no idea what HORSE was. I meant to enter a 280 player sitngo but accidentally signed up for a HORSE one instead. I had NO idea of the rules of razz what so ever, and had never played seven card stud. So it was sooooooo funny as I had my mate looking up the rules of razz and trying to explain it to me (and he doesn't play poker) etc on another screen while I was trying to fake my way through it. It was only a 27 player SnG, but was funny as managed to come 2nd in something I was pretty much clueless of half the game. Certainly my friend and I were laughing our behinds off as I struggled to work out what the heck was going on.

    Statistical information from sky

    Hi folks

Can someone guide me in the right direction. I know i can't use HUDs on sky where i could get VPIP and AGG FACTOR stats etc so what 'valuable' info can i glean about my own game from the Sky statistics that are available?
HUD stats give you an idea of what you need for a LAG/TAP game but apart from showdown wins being in a50-60% range, i can't see what worth i can glean from my statistics as they seem to be based on decisions i or my opponents make.
If you have any ranges etc for certain types of players for 6max , i'd be grateful to hear abut them. Otherwise there's no reason for me to record them, is there?
The only thing i can see is that i'm seeing less flops than i did when i first started but thats to be expected..............................
.......after all 90% was a bit high!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                      cheers
                                          Steve aka profman15

PS Ddn't Matt Bates do great on that night he was on. He seems very accomplished and was so easy going.

If playing a very TAG game where your VPIP might be as low as 20% then you likely see flops about 15-16% of so in general (remember vpip includes blinds so not always see flop). Course that might change a bit with table dynamics like if I have two tight players to my left I'd be hammering on them 100% from the BTN if folded to me, and likely 35%+ from CO, which would effect VPIP but not so much the flop percentage.

Can't remember without looking what other stats sky shows on their stats box. Name the ones you want to know if you can use maybe.

As for ranges. If you mean for TAG etc for VPIP. Well as a guide I have my HUD set to colour people 20% and below in red as they are normally playing very tight and I can range them as often playing high cards. 21-30 are ones I colour as yellow as they are mixing up their game and are often the ones being raising far more often from late postions with weak hands or weaker. Above 30% I have them coloured green in that they are playing to many hands really and shold be exploitable.

AF obviously you can't track here, but as a guide anyone with an AF of 1 and below is very passive and should be easier to play against unless a calling station. 2-3 and they are likely combined with TAG sub 20% but also aggresive with it post flop and so to be watched. 3+ over consistant period and they maybe getting overly aggresive and might be worth looking up lighter than you may with some. Very loose guides of course.

PFR i tend to not worry about to much unless its way below their VPIP and then I maybe more careful post flop as they are limping just about everything even their big hands, and quite often tend to be calling stations for some reason. Just the way it seems to be.

    Hi Prof,

Am glad Kam99 answered your question m8, I didnt understand the question, and as for the answer he might as well have been talking in Swahili....

To be honest the statistics shown when I am a table are about as much use as the "Hotometer" because all my stats seem to be set at 0%  or they were last time I bothered to even look lol. Playing the Dym's I am not sure either how much use stats would be, as it doesn't take long to get "reads" on new players and 1/2 the time you are playing regs. Anyway thats only my excuse for not having a clue about what you guys were on about!!

    Hi Kam

How can you be using a HUD on SKY? I suspect you're talking about playing on other sites "of wjich non exist" as Rich Orford would say! I understand those interpretations but we don't have those do we here.
I am asking about what information about my own game that i can glean from my own Sky statistics. Is there anything ?
    Cheers

Could be wrong Woogie but I think the 0% is the same for us all, it updates with the correct % after the next completed hand,,, seems to the case on mine anyways...

Well, put it this way I don't bother looking at them at all, so I'd say their value is fairly low. Yes, how much you are seeing flops can be a guide I guess to if you are seeing to many, which is what I said in first paragraph of previous post.  And yes the at showdown winning percentage can be semi useful as on the whole you want it over 60%, but as its only showing stats for that session on that table I'm not sure its uber useful.

And of course I'm not using a HUD on sky, as they just aren't well known enough for the makers of HUDs like holdem manager or poker tracker to do one, and thats assuming they could with skys software. And yes i would get rich saying there are no other sites, but maybe if they did and looked at them a bit more they could improve the sky software to the level of some of those non-exsistant sites and get a bigger player base on sky too. :)

I'll have another look at the stats box on sky later and see if there is anything else overly useful, but can't recall anything I'd find useful, as normally its stats on others you want more than your own.

Isn't software I use on sky, but sky isn't the only site I play on. I play a bit on sky, but most of my poker elsewhere due to various reasons (3rd party software as one reason). His question was about misclicks, so didn't see the reason to say a famous misclick I had made on sky only. :)

    A lovely Father's Day

    Hi folks,

Well, what a lovely Father's Day i had with my kids and my girlfriend. we went for a lovely meal in our favourite Italian restaurant(silly me had booked next door by mistake!). OOPS!

Anyway went back to the exes(divorced 10 years now) where my pressies were. Barry Greenstein's '' Ace in the Hole' and a wonderful new 'outfit' to help my aggression in the game.(pic included ...its a dinosaur) and lovely cake. I may ask HITSQUAD capt HITMAN_RV if we should swap the team kit now! Mind, if its in pink he should be ok with it!!

I'm so proud of my children and my girlfriend Sue and my life is so content now.

I came back to my home to find the freebie Lucky Sevens comp i'd won and got to 25th(payout for top twenty). even having my jacks beaten by sevens (not so lucky eh? Mind congrats Clancy as i think you cashed big when you out) and crippling me could take my day away.
I'm not sure about this tourney yet as:
    1. Its outside my normal financial entry
    2. Blind times seem short
    3. Payout structure seems mean( £10 for 11-20 so less than 1/3 profit on entry)
    4. Need double up early or its all-in once 100/200 comes up, i suspect.
    5. Didn't help to have EviPngu bulying table with his big stack!

Anyway, hope you like the new outfit. I'll be wearing it for DTD forum tonight, promise, so if it puts you on tilt it will have done its duty!!! GRRRRR!

I'm off to Tenerife to luxury apartments with Sue on sunday for a week so no SPT but my time will come, i'm sure. I've got just three new poker books to read!!!

May all your hands be premium ones,

    ...the prof.....
PS Keep the fun in it..its only money!
