I'm pretty sure Skypoker have looked deeply into this problem. It is impossible for us to see the problem from skypokers point of view-- we don't know the numbers---- we also have no real idea where they draw the line--- is it 35% above the average level of general abuse?--- Surely Britain and Ireland are far too rude to have a zero tolerance approach.
Imagine the Man/woman hours involved in investigating every press of a button, It would probably require a whole new department--- personally, I do feel assured that Sky have done their sums on this one, and have come up with the best solution under the circumstances---- And lets face it--- These are circumstances we know very little about.
I have abused players in the past, I am sorry. Bad play annoys me, I know I want to play bad players but when they suck out in the short term it is very frustrating. If I abuse anyone reading this in the future please do not take my comments too seriously. I know there is much much more to life than a game of online poker.

+1 It's impossible not to get a little frustrated sometimes on this site. I just laugh now, but in the past - my computer has nearly gone out the window a few times.
How about a NICE tournament, where everyone that wants to play must click on a button to promise to be really nice to everybody, and not write rude words in the chat box, not even wonkey
Don't get me wrong i'm not being overly sensitive. I play live and without a thick skin you would struggle to play at some places. I guess face to face it is easier to see see if it's just banter or a bit more than that. Being abused doesn't particulary bother me because generally it means you've just won a hand!
As a regular in the dym's what i don't like is when i see players who have rarely played before and are probably just trying out poker and enjoying themselves get the 'idiot' 'donk' and then the horrible ' hope you get ill' kind of stuff thrown at them. It serves no purpose other than to dissuade people from playing.

These are the people that are just plain nasty people, no-one needs them around, not even a business--- I would say most of them get reported and banned quite early---- But calling people an idiot or a donkey is something that happens every day, on every table, on every site, and if sky banned them for that, how many people would still have chat privileges?--- If you look in "brags, beats and variance", and in "area51", you can see how frustrated some beginners get (especially young men), it seems they don't understand much about the odds (eg j-10 vs a-k-- 60-40 ish)-- These people mostly learn and settle down after a while--- Poker is probably the most frustrating game ever played for money---- I know for a fact that many of these frustrated young men are really nice people that are loved and respected by their friends and family---- They act extremely out of character whilst trying to learn poker by losing money--- I'd say most of them have never been so confused in their whole lives! (except perhaps by a lady)--- Give them a break I say-- A warning and some poker education will usually suffice.
One thing that would be easy to implement would be a warning that pops up in the chat box when a banned word is typed. Posted by oynutter
this happens already with asterisks.
on that basis, those who circumvent the censorsorship by using spaces (or the like) to be abusive are totally aware of their actions and should not be in doubt of the consequences.
so, good idea, the warning system is already in place, therefore immediate sanction.

But they are not necessarily abusing anyone by typing in a banned word-- I just thought perhaps a verbal warning in the chat box at this stage might be enough warning to stop some people doing so in the future.
If i see someone going to far with abuse i,ll post in the chatbox that i,m reporting them. If they still don,t shut up i do then report them.
TBH it doesn,t bother me in the slightest although it did when i first started a few years back
It bothers me more when i see others getting the abuse as they could be new , just playing for fun or having there play mocked esp late on Friday or Saturday nights by drunken idiots who can,t take a bad beat
For me its difficult to understand how you can be offended by being verbal abused by someone who have never seen you, no idea of your gender, skin colour, religion, and probably live many many miles away from yourself, who btw will probably be the worst player at the table! and sitting in front of a computer screen litening to justin bieber!!
Also these "abuse" threads make the issue seem a much bigger problem than what it actually is, i have been here for ages and i rarely see any chat at the tables let alone abusive chat, maybe its only a problem at the micros? i don't know, but highlighting it on threads just make it seem its a huge problem on sky when it actually isn't.
you are unaware/unaffected yet conclude that all is fine? Posted by aussie09
You have probably misinterpret my post seeing that your assumption has quite a broad meaning; if " all is fine" as in everything is not out of the ordinary then yes! this is a poker room after all, you are bound to get a few hot-headed people about when money is involved, also these rants don't generally last long.
Still i don't think its fine when people abuse the chat with racist words, reg illnesses etc and they should be reported/banned, but this is very rare from my experience with sky in fact i cant think of a time that it has happened. Its not a big problem like these threads make out it to be, like its the cause of people leaving sky because of it, it's simply not true.

How are you able to decide 'people leaving sky because of it, it's simply not true'? How do you know this? In a card room this would not be tolerated yet the 'brave' people in their living rooms are able to do this.
It happens on all sites and is not just peculiar to SKY. I understand what you are saying mainly but to say it is very rare and some of things said you have never seen happen, really? I feel it probably is an issue far more at the low stakes as the higher you go the more likelihood of experienced players who have seen all the bad beats etc before and are more serious about the game and profits then bothering with the rants.
