If you don't like them, just sit away. I've Cashed in 2 from 3 Can't say NO to FREE Money imo Posted by POKERTREV
They are a pain in da @ss, they opened when I didnt know I was even registered.
I already had 3 games open, and they cause serious lag, everytime I close em they re-open and I couldnt throw my chips away because I had 5 away players, so even playing poker was out the window.
It could be worth while IF it was possible to post a pop-up window asking moments before it starts, "do ya wana be registered". that way, there would be no away players, and you could play poker if ya bankroll was short!
think they are good as you can just mess around, and breaks up the dull cash tables. I have messed about and finished 1st & 3rd so lols - should play so craxy in the mains + minis
Freerolls are usually played by rec players and players learning the game for a bit of fun To take them away and replace them with players who play the ME and Mini doesn,t make sense imo MP (could lose new players as this is where they normally start) Posted by MP33
+1. Absolutely hit the nail on the head. The removal of the 10.30 freeroll is a bad move for the reasons stated plus the fact that a lot of players who have taken hits to their BR use them to try and rebuild. For example there is a thread running at the moment started by Geldy who is in this position. IMO replacing the freeroll with the Main+ is a big mistake as i do not see the attraction of a 200£ freeroll leading to an increase in numbers to the ME but could, as MP33 says, lead to a reduction in the numbers of micro players. The effects of a reduction in new players and micro stakes players could be far reaching in the long term.

Lol i was actually struggling with the same issue and was deep in 3 tournys at the time, literally had to donk out of the one i was shortest in that id paid for btw, so i could then attempt to donk out of these freerolls think i actually busted you in one of them trying to give you my chips. lol. Glad to know you where trying to give me yours now i felt bad at the time.
I like the idea, but when i cant multitable more than 3 tables between 5 and 11pm due to my connection its frustrating.
Thx for all the input guys much appreciated Macapapa you hit it on the head totally agree with you there and i cant see how these are boosting ME numbers but what do i no ay big LOL at solidstan had excatly the same problem with 5 away players n i couldnt do nothing about it!! pain in the bum Posted by kidwiz10
Hi Wizzo.
GREAT effort last night, we were all rooting for you!
Now, down to businessssssss
There seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding here. You have now TWICE said something similar, once in your OP, & now in your latest Post, & it is incorrect. If I don't correct that, players may start believing you, so I must.
"....I cant see how this is boosting main event numbers....."
It is not designed to boost Main Event numbers, & nobody from Sky Poker ever said it was!
It's perfectly fine and dandy that you & some others do not like them or think "they don't work", and you have said (words to the effect) that you are not complaining about a Freeroll as such, which is appreciated.
But they are not designed as such to boost Main or Mini Main event players numbers. Honest ****!
PS - Your thread title asked for feedback "from Sky", so I've ticked that box.
For balance.....I am in favour of them! Played 3.......cashed in 3! (mini ones, obv). For those you dislike them/do not want to play them, deregister. Simple. *edit - there is no CANCEL reg button for the main f/roll, but there is for the mini. Posted by MAXALLY
Hi Maxally - you get the button to dereg of you are in it.

In Response to Re: Main and Mini freerolls, Thoughts please including sky itself : I'm not moaning at you Huuuume, I generally agree with most things you put on the forum, but if this was the thought process then it's very flawed. Low stakes players don't tend to play alot of MEs and as for the Minis, it is a freeroll and 'free money' but it is a £50 freeroll, and these run daily anyway without having to play the mini to get entry. So it adds little value for low stakes players. Posted by Lambert180
you make a good point in that not many lower stakes players play the main which now means i cant think of any positive reasons for sky to introduce these freerolls.
If they're not for lower stakes players then i'm not sure at all why sky have introduced them?!?
surely most players who play higher volume are already rewarded through cash for points?
It strikes me is that the two main reasons for having these freerolls are:
1) To encourage players that are wavering about playing on a particular night to play because they also have entry to a FREEROLL (or two).
2) To encourage players to extend their session. Normally if I bust out of the Main & Mini early, I play cash or DYMs so I can choose when to end my session. By having the freerolls, it means that players can become commited to playing an extra two hours.
Are they any good?
On the face of it, it is a lot of effort for a very small reward but I have played two so far & cashed in both so maybe they are working.
saw this for the 1st time last night - a 400 runner freeroll with 1st prize being £5.
Dont get me wrong, its nice for sky to offer freebies to the lower players & is a nice guesture, but spending 3 hrs or so to win £5 seems a bit pointless.
As I said, nice idea but not sure thought out that well. How about adding them up & doing weekly/monthly?
Possibly with starting chip stack reflecting no of entries into the mini ( I myself play the mini very rarely so doesnt really effect me personally).
Just a quick idea as i thought about this Personally i think there a waste of time ino it was nice of sky to introduce em to boost the main mumbers and that but to the ordianry joe who playes the main n mini most night of the week there pointless eg £50 fr 400 runners 1st />£12.50 £200 fr 400 runners 1st />£50 For about 3 hours play just aint worth the effort and most players who play day in day out aint gunna bother with these at all What i suggest: Instead of a daily mini and main freeroll junk them A weekly freeroll eg Players who cash in either the main or the mini from mon/sat get entry to £1500 freeroll on the sunday So my guess there would be between 400/500 runners with 1st offering around £300 This would be a much better idea and its worth the time to play , can keep the same freeroll structure n that Thoughts and input be good Posted by kidwiz10
i take offence being called an ordinary joe but agree they are a waste of time i play the main and mini most nights and have these games popping up i just donk my chip off asap and go to bed gl thou JOE:))
