hi Ryan, nice going mate. keep it up. will follow your progress with interest. (* *) dev Posted by devonfish5
ty dev, nice to get off to a winning start but I aint getting carried away could easily have an awful session next time...thats the beauty of the game eh
btw...how on earth do you play 21 tables you nutter!!!! any more than 6 and my head starts spinning lol hope your good run on the dyms continues m8
Well well well...........the honeymoon period is over, I have just had a pretty horrid 3 hr session.
I had nut flush losing to fh....twice I had set losing to straight. I had QQ<89 And I had flush over flush.
Having said that I did make a couple of bad calls........one in particular for a full buy in with the nut flush to a check raise all in on a paired board...... a blatant fh but I still called.....leaks like this I def need to improve on.
The 2 hands below sum up my luck this evening........any advice on my play would be welcome

I felt myself starting to tilt and playing worse so I gave up for the night............here are the scores on the doors.
20nl Profit Today = -£65.34 Total Profit = -£36.36
30nl Profit Today = -£49.26 Total Profit = -£17.46
Overall Profit = -£53.82
I am giving myself a 5BI loss limit before I drop back down which is £150......so gonna stick with it until then.........hope for a better night tomorrow
1. dont get too up on your wins and too down on your losses
2. you should learn more from your losing sessions than you do from your winning.
3a. how many times in the session did you get your chips in infront and stay in front
3b. how many times in the seesion did you get your chips in behind and go in front
3c how many times i the session did you get you chips in infront and go behind
3d how many times in the session did you get your chips in behind with 40% outs or better and stay behind.
4 a+b / c+d losing sessions are usually less than 1, winning sessions are greater.
5 the value of these sessions need to be in proportion to your +/- 1 figure, if you have won a great deal despite only having say a fig of 2.2 then you can claim to be peforming well, if you have lost only a little if having a fig of 0.2 then you should also congratulate yourself. If the opposite to the two examples have athink about your game, and decide whether you stay at the level or drop.
Another poor cash session tonight, 20nl was my downfall.....I dont think I played too bad (bar a nitty fold with KK after being owned by cenachav). I have decided not to play on the mastercash tables for a while as losing a full buy in there hurts more!!!
20nl
Profit Today = -£61.47 Overall Profit = -£97.83
30nl
Profit Today = +£12.35 Overall Profit = -£5.11

So, not quite the 5BI loss yet but getting close!!! Tomorrow I will lay off the mastercash tables and play the normal ones.
Off the cash tables I managed (albeit playing poor poker) to finish 3rd in the 12k BH so a good night overall
From a couple of the hands that you have posted on here you seem to shut dwon on the turn when your hand gets stronger and then value bet the river. For example the flush over flush hand (your always going broke here) you bet your draw on the flop but bet the turn when you hit aswell try and get 3 streets of value from your big hands looks like you maybe leaving abit of value behind. Other than that glad to hear you having fun good luck to you

Hi, cheers for your post.
I am still relatively new to cash so thanks for your advice.......the reason why I checked was simply to trap (unless the guy has bigger flush I am very unlikely to get outdrawn), let somebody with an ace in his hand improve further etc...this is a tactic I often employ in mtts and it seems to work a lot.
But reading your comment I take it that it is best to bet all 3 streets?
Thanks everyone else for your kind words......I actually played as bad as I have in a while, I was behind when my chips were in the middle a few times....I even had an hours worth of abuse from one player to go with it, but I aint complaining
Tonight was fun, I didnt make a great deal of money and I have a s***load of leaks in my game but I'm really getting into playing cash.
I feel it's more of a battle when you are facing the same names on a regular basis.......I got outplayed at times but I also took down a couple of big pots myself.......the way I see it at the minute is there are far far better players at the level I'm at but I feel I can improve and hold my own in time.
Most importantly, I'm enjoying it!
I didn't play any 20nl tonight and just 4 tabled 30nl with a mix of mtt's (with no success).
Just finished a 2 hr session 4 tabling 30nl. Was going quite well break even on one table and up in all the others.
However towards the end of the session I lost 2BI......i think both were pretty standard.....flopped set losing to flopped straight and AK losing A8 on a xAxA board....river 8....maybe a better player than can find the fold in these spots dunno???
Anyway ended the session just over 1BI down no great drama....probs play a bit more later
Due to recent cashes in MTT's I have decided to give myself a bit more to play with before I drop down....if/when I get to -£200 i will drop back down to 10/20nl until I build back up....gl at the tables guys
Haven't played for nearly a week as I have been working away and haven't had the time.
Played a couple of mtts tonight...itching for a game of poker, but I soon realised how frustrating the game can be....highlighted when my AK<AQ in the open, this thread is to track my cash game though so won't go into detail about the tourneys.
Right, I have decided to stick soley to 30nl........tonight went ok, I only played 3 small sessions around an hour each......results
Couple of good results there mate. Congratulations.
I saw in on of your posts that you are having fun. Well I guess you are a recreational player as most of us here. That is the key in the game. To have fun. Money should come in 2nd place. Thats poker for me.
Its always nice to get a grisp to new things and I hope you enjoy cash. Cash it is a completely different world of tournaments and therefore you have to make some adjustments.
But make sure whatever you do, you are having fun and enjoy yourself. That is what poker is all about.

Yeah very good point, I play purely for fun and any money I make along the way is a bonus. I'm slowly getting used to cash now and I think my overall game is improving as a result.
