    Sigh
Saw Gazza had posted and was all excited.

"What does he want to talk to me about?" I wondered
"It's really nice when people post on my thread, makes it all seem worthwhile" I thought.

    Oh
He just wants to talk to Harry. :(
    Bedtime

If it makes you feel better I almost never get this feeling.

And if I do... its usually from Harry and I end up thinking 'God... what does he want?'

    nope,

prefer Richard Strauss. studied  Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks at school but clearly Also sprach Zarathustra as used in 2001 is the tune über alles

talking of über allesI guess you're not a fan of the dead kennedys - unless your span of musical taste is as eclectic as mine?

Posting from iPad, so having to do multiples. Dohhhh  Do you really think Root is that good? I actually think he caused a lot of our problems in the last series. Under Vaughn, we really went on the offensive got the first time in years and surprised the Australians. Suddenly we were scoring at 4 an over and putting them under pressure. Root, hung around for ages at the start of innings without really scoring. This allowed the Aussies to keep attacking us, as no runs we're being put on the board. It also heaped pressure on his partners to try and keep the scoreboard ticking along. If it wasn't for that one innings, I imagine he would have been dropped. In total he scored 339 runs in the series. Take away the 180, he got dropped early on remember?, and his average was pretty poor. I think this series could be very good. Both teams are far weaker than they were a few years back but the way the Aussies played at the end of the series, suggests it could be close. Still think we'll win. .. No thoughts on Beethoven, Mozart or Haydn?

Yeh he will be. I know what you mean though.

I think the Aussie bowlers deserve a lot of credit for the way they kept on top of us, we never really got away and aside from the Duke of Bellington, nobody scored mega runs.

The pitches were also dire, and not really helpful for either team to bat positively. Although the Aussies did a decent job at times :/

Pitches in Aus will be much better, Roooooot will score runs.

Actually like the option of Root opening, and bringing Stokes in @ 6 (or 7 if Prior moves up). Might need 4 seemers and he can get it down @ 90mph!

    Aussies favourites for me.

Never heard of the first 2, but Haydn was quality. He could probably still do a better job opening for Aus than Twatto & Warner and he's been retired 5 years.

    Very well batted

Think it was Jones who threw the ball at Haydn. Foolish/brave delete as appropriate

Mrs J away down south all weekend.
Ah, the single life, what to do?
    Golf organised for Sunday

    Saturday
Watch the Mighty Rams win obviously.
    At night. hmmm options.
Drink copious amounts of Peroni in the local, or drink copious amounts of Estrella in the local Genting. 2nd option gives me a chance to win a few quid playing my fellow drunks. 1st one gives me a chance to not blow £300 trying to win a few quid of my fellow drunks.

Either way, kebab on the way home.
Makes me reminisce of days gone by.

Town and then on the odd occasion(ok, vast majority) of times when I didn't pull, I would get a kebab, get home and put on Match of the Day, if I'd remembered to 'tape it'. Fall asleep after 10 minutes with a half eaten shish. Wake up in the morning to see an empty plate and the cat licking it's lips and smiling at me.
A few hours later, I would hear a few groans from the litter tray and Oscar would come out glaring at me.
He really misses his once a week kebab. He did prefer the doner but in truth wasn't too fussy.

    Come on you Rams!
2 points off the play-offs now and some money to spend in January.

Still not sure what to do tonight.
    Casino, favourite at the moment.

Just looked up 'Paul Calf' that Tikay quoted from a couple of days ago. Can't believe it's 20 years ago and prolly hardly anyone on here has seen it. Early Steve Coogan stuff.
    Loved the opening to it

"Hello, my name's Paul Calf, support Man City. Like drinking, like a laugh, chat, you know - bit of a debate, argument, scrap, fight, punch up, break some bloke's nose, I like life"

Always liked Coogans stuff. Preferred "Knowing me, knowing you" to Alan Partridge. I'm in the minority there. Really enjoyed "The Trip" with Rob Brydon. It was pretty poorly reviewed. Lot of stuff about it being 'smug' and 'self-serving arrogance'. I just thought it was clever and funny.

Boom! Just found 'Knowing me, knowing you' on Lovefilm
Might be staying in tonight now.

    Just been chatbox tilting.
Obv no abusing, just sulky comments like "just shove, imposs you lose" and "have you evr lost an allin?"
    Very mature behaviour.

Never do it normally thank goodness.
Just had the same good reg beat me on the bubble in 5 or 6 games, whether he was ahead or behind.
Final straw was in last £10 game where I went down to 100 chips on bubble and got it back to 2000 chips. all in bvb with JJ V K10. He makes his flush, grrrr

Nice to know after 7000 Dym's I can still tilt.
I'm a knob, off to Golf Course.

Love his work. Really enjoyed The Trip too, thought Coogan and Brydon worked well together - love a good tragi-comedy mix, powerful ending when he returns home to the flat I thought. Have watched it back on DVD a couple of times, some great outtakes on there too.

KNKY /> IAP ?? You're right sir, you are in the minority!

EDIT - PS - if you've not had the pleasure of the Partridge autobiography, get it on audiobook, just amazing!

Played the £30 rebuy at Derby last night.
Good comp, casino added 500 as it got over 40 runners.
Got nowhere at all and had a frustrating, but right call, by TD  on my all in hand.

Cut off opened for 2500 and I shoved my last 11000 with King 10 hearts. He snapped with Ace J which I was happy with.
2 heart flop and then binked  the K on turn. Happy days.
TD was only one who noticed that the dealer hadn't burned the turn card. (I'd done the standing up thing) and didn't notice myself. So K was burned and brick, brick and I'm gone.

Played some cash and won a fair bit and drunk a fair bit.
Drink can be the only explanation for triple barreling 52 against the table station. Had him on a draw and it's a bit of a buzz when he insta mucks after I shove on the river. Would have been gross if I'd given up and lost a £400 pot to J high :)

Had a big hand where I peeled a 3 bet to £21 with 33. 4 others in pot. Flop was all diamonds and gave me the set. Guy led for £75 and I shoved for £310. He calls. 4th diamond on turn was scary and then I filled up on river. He had aces but no diamond, so I was ahead anyway.

Got away with one where I flatted the big blinds reraise to £12 with 10 9 along with 3 others. He then shoved his last £50 on 10 9 K. Obv gonna snap but then next guy resolves for 200. I let it go and reshover had the nuts. Lucky he didn't flat, board was rainbow. A couple of players then decided to give him a hard time saying how bad he was. No need for this at all, I thought he was great. :)
Just got up an hour ago and my head is pretty sore! Had fun though, live pokers fun.

    Yet I love this post.

Obviously not the fact that you've had a poor day.  More the fact you can sum it up in 9 words what i'd probably write in 500 words.

Was about to delete the above post but had second thoughts.

It's a fine line. No one wants read moaning posts about losing nights. Problem is, then when you post after a good night someone will say that you only post when you win. Troublesome.

Not sure whether to retire this thread again.
There's no interaction, prolly least read thread on here. That's all my fault. I do just drone on a lot.
Think I'm in a bad mood tonight and sulking a bit.
On the plus side, bought a cracking pair of new slacks today
    Best leave it there.

    Good luck all.

Just realised I missed a Steve Coogan discussion!

Absolutely love Coogan. For me I'm Alan Partridge (moreso the 1st series) is better than Knowing Me, Knowing You but they're both great. I've seen the early stuff like Paul Calf... can't remember what the character's name was but he was like a spanish club singer and the song that comes to mind that he did was 'lapdancing lady'... definitely worth youtube-ing if you don't remember it.

I didn't realise The Trip got bad reviews but I loved it. Just felt like 2 genuinely good mates just having a laugh (in a good way), remined me of when I was younger and would go out loads with a mate of mine, Frankie, and it was very similar... less impressions, but always kinda trying to outdo each other but never nastily.

You make a good point, I always feel the same, I don't like to moan... well I do lol but I don't like to fill my diary with it cos no1 wants to read it, but then as you say, people will say 'oh you only post when you're winning'. Like back in the day if IDCU was posting, he was winning, if he wasn't, he wasn't lol, don't wanna be like that, and a few have commented on my diary that they think it's good I'm open about the bad times too.
