    A very sad man.
The opposition parties could go on holiday and let the Tories kill themselves off.

Andrew Bridgen apologises 'unreservedly' over defence of Jacob Rees-Mogg Grenfell comments

Mr Bridgen defended his Tory colleague on Tuesday for his "uncharacteristically clumsy" comments suggesting the victims should have used "common sense".

Asked on BBC Radio 4 if Mr Rees-Mogg was suggesting he was "cleverer" than those who died after taking the fire brigade's advice, Mr Bridgen said: "But we want very clever people running the country, and that is a bi-product of what Jacob is. And that is why he is in a position of authority.
"What he is actually saying is, he would have made a better decision than the authority figures who gave that advice."
When Mr Davis asked him if Mr Rees-Mogg was suggesting he would have ignored the fireman's advice of staying put, Mr Bridgen said: "Absolutely".

Mr Brigen's comments prompted calls for him to resign, amid similar calls for Mr Rees-Mogg to do so.

Cleverly was on BBC breakfast news it was pretty embarrassing and awkward after the 15th time he repeated that they apologised and it was the right thing to do. It was like watching a robot run out of battery.

Comments made by Jacob Rees-Mogg about the Grenfell Tower fire - suggesting it would have been "common sense" to flee a burning building - feature in several papers.
The remarks - for which Mr Rees-Mogg has apologised - make the lead for two of the papers: the Guardian and the i.
The i has the headline: "Rees-Mogg grounded by Tories". It says Downing Street has been uncomfortable with Mr Rees-Mogg's high media profile in recent months, and he is set to be reined in to limit the potential for further controversies ahead of the election.
According to the Daily Mail, Downing Street is considering ordering Mr Rees-Mogg to give up his monthly slot on the radio station LBC, where he made his remarks.

In its editorial, the Daily Mirror claims the Commons Leader "betrays his contempt for the public" with his comments, which "exposed an arrogant Conservative Party mindset, sneering at ordinary folk".

Can you imagine a fire at the Moggster's mansion? ( hmmm :/ )

" Come along children, common sense says we should move to the West wing....obviously.."

“Nanny says we should move to the west wing”. She knows better than the firebrigade.

It must be very frustrating for the emergency services when comments like this are made. They are the experts and if an emergency what they say goes. We don't want people second guessing what they are being told and thinking they know best and potentially making a bad situation even worse.

It is important to recognise that there had never previously been a fire of this type/magnitude in this sort of building. With the benefit of hindsight, the fire services probably made a wrong call. But no-one knew that at the time.

I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark, and suggest JRM has never lived in a tower block of this type.

Love the fact that a politician can claim he knew better after the event. Like he knew how Brexit would pan out....

I think I despise him as much for the condescending, superior tone and looks as much as the content of what this pompous **** says.

He looks at people as though he's got a piece of **** stuck under his nose
