Who won what, Sunday 23rd May - Sunday Major goes to Arrogant

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 160,471

Afternoon.

A quiet night at the tables, pretty much as expected. Let us hope next Saturday & Sunday are a little busier, as it's the £100,000 SPT Online weekend.

In sport, Liverpool, who were out with the washing 10 games ago, won 8 & drew 2 to eventually qualify for Europe in sensational fashion.

In golf, there's life in the old dog yet, as Phil Mickelson, who turns 51 next month, won the PGA, his 6th Major.

Spectators were allowed at the Football & Golf & it was great to see them - well mostly great. At the golf we are almost used to the buffoons in the gallery with their imbecilic shouts of "in the hole", "mashed potato" or "light the candle". Their idiocy reached new lows yesterday when an errant shot landed in the gallery and a spectator picked it up. I've seen some dumb things on a golf course, done a few myself too, but that took the biscuit.

Incidentally, the winner's prize money was $2,160,000. Goodness me, the world's gone money mad.

£700 7 @ 7 £1,225

£6,000 BH £6,480

£15,000 Sunday Major £15,000

£2,000 Mini £2,000

£1,000 Mega £1,280

£2,000 Sheriff £2,000

£1,500 Reload £1,644

£1,500 Turbo £1,500

£1,500 Quicky £1,820

    7 at 7 Bounty Hunter (£1,225)

DeadmanSk had been going along nicely for 18 months until a nasty downswing set in a month ago, but this result repaired some of the damage & maybe he can resume his upward trajectory now.

A very satisfactory session for @thedazzman with two third place finishes - 7 @ 7 & Mini Major. Well done Dazzy.

5th was bigfatfish, which was the prelude to a very good evening for him.

The £6,000 BH went to roddy28. This fella is the real deal - it was his sixth 4 figure cash since March - UKOPS 12, three Main events (2 x Marksman & 1 x Avenger), BWBH & now the £6,000 BH. That's some going.

    £15,000 Sunday Major (£15,000)

Arrogant is absolutely unstoppable at the moment, on Saturday he won both Reload & Quickdraw, & now he takes down the Sunday Major. Can't knock that. A tough FT too, as one would expect.

M10Dembele looked the winner at one stage, but it was not to be.

buddha350 was playing just his 4th MTT here in 2021, but he has a rich history of big results, in fact he has won the Sunday Major, or it's predecessor the Sunday Roller, no less than 4 times. Very good player indeed.

SoLack continued his fine run, 5th here.

Shoutouts to cheezy, aka weecheez1 in 8th, & Dave, aka @kidgrimsby who ran 12th after being as high as 3rd at one stage.

    £2,000 Sheriff Bounty Hunter (£2,000)

AlexaAJ marches on, twice a winner of the Mega in the previous 8 days, now adds Sheriff. Add in a ton of final tables & it is all adding up. Presumably a lively prospect for this weekend's SPT Online.

For his splendid Mini Major victory...

    POTD

The Sunday Major winner almost always wins POTD, & in this case, created the very rare, maybe unique situation of winning it two nights on the bounce...

This week we are going to look at "Best British Sports men or women".

We'll start with Darts, a lovely game enjoyed by millions. It's a game rather than a sport actually, but that's a whole other argument. However, Televised Darts is something I strive to avoid, thousands of beery lads dressed like kids, hollering & barracking players, is not my idea of a fun watch.

Even so, Phil "The Power" Taylor is a freak. He's won the World Championships 14 times, & the World Matchplay 16 times.

Nobody is going to argue that he was the best darts player ever, are they?

Got his very own walk-on music too.

He's also one of many sportsmen in the UK who owes a great deal to Barry Hearn.

He also overcame the disadvantage of being a Stoke lad, as was his mentor & one time sponsor, Eric "The Crafty Cockney" Bristow.

    This is real.

A quick postscript to the Phil Taylor piece.

    I just spotted this on his Wiki page;

He was also inducted into the Stoke-on-Trent Hall of Fame when it was opened in January 2011

The Stoke-On-Trent Hall of Fame? They gotta be kidding, right?

Where is that housed - in a telephone box?

    Hi Tony,

I take my hat off to you on your abilty to entertain us all, whilst also enjoying yourself researching life and taking the Micheal out of all and sundry as you go. Is it a skill or an art?

As for last night I went into the main all in £3 sat just to get over the line for this weeks freerolls, and amazingly, after a few "nose bleed" situations managed to bink £200, so a good nights work.

I got very lucky vs kidgrimsby last night close to the final table, i think it was my qq vs his kk and i flopped a set.
If possible id like kidgrimsby to have the £220 SPT entry i won in the raffle earlier this month.

    Cheers

    @Arrogant

Goodness me, that's a great gesture. I honestly don't know if there is a way that can be sorted, but I'll certainly ask the Office.
