Who won what, Sunday November 7th, UKOPS Final Day - boulton016 wins the HR, MarkScot the Main

edited November 2021 in Poker Chat
Morning.

Well that's another UKOPS done & dusted, & all things considered, it went pretty well.

Last night's £20,000 High Roller came in at £29,000, so that was pretty good, but the £40,000 Main missed, though only by a measly 6 entries, which was a little annoying but could have been far worse. Seemed to be a lot of action on the cash tables, as is usually the case on big MTT nights. All good.

It is noticeable recently how angry many players seem to be judging by the chat boxes. Some just seem angry generally, others are Sky Poker haters, or so they claim. There are scores of licensed Poker Sites in the UK though - one or two of them even have better software than us - & yet they choose to play here. Go figure. Poker players are weird, or maybe its just how society is these days. I read in the news today that 23 million Afghanistan's are already starving to death & now the poor souls face a freezing winter. And yet peeps here in the good old UK get upset at a game of poker. Nothing makes sense to me any more.

In sport, another football manager went down the road, Dean Smith this time. He seems a good guy & I like him, but it's hard to feel too much sympathy for sacked football managers at the top level - they usually get their contract paid up, which would be enough for you or I to live on in luxury for the rest of our lives. What price John Terry to become the first to throw his hat in the ring for the Villa gig?

Liverpool got turned over by a West Ham side who have improved out of all recognition without spending anything like the traditional "top six" sides. Amazing to think West Ham sacked Moyes a few seasons ago.

In F1 it was the Mexico City GP, the first 800 metres of which was mildly exciting. Like most viewers I suspect, I fell asleep after that.

In the English Open snooker the newly slim-line John Higgins looked home & hosed but Neil Roberston somehow fought back & took the win. Later, Mark Williams went on to Twitter & said that Robertson had the best cue action of any player he had ever seen. Wow.

£10,000 UKOPS 58 £10,470

£20,000 UKOPS 59 £29,000

£40,000 UKOPS 60 £40,000

    UKOPS 58 £10,000 Bounty Hunter (£10,470)

    Quite a surprise winner for the opener. I have very little I can tell you about them, except that they have a £9 ABI & a fairly modest Sharky, so I'd be surprised if they have ever binked a £1,773 first prize before.

    rpokerJ has been here 12 or more years without making too many waves, but had a terrific UKOPS, winning UKOPS 38, 2nd in UKOPS 28 High Roller for almost £3,000 & 5th here.

    janechrist had a remarkable evening, with a trio of 6th placed finishes - UKOPS 58, UKOPS 60 (the Main) & UKOPS 63.

    UKOPS 59 £20,000 Super High Roller (£29,000)

    This was nip & tuck between boulton016 & IanSimpson from some way out, with Ian eventually relinquishing a decent lead, not helped when having his Kings busted HU. boulton is no stranger to big events & won a Vegas package with us in 2019, only to exit with Kings v Aces. IanSimpson was a busy boy, 2nd here, & making two decent finals elsewhere, on Unibet & Grosvenor.

    Super_Oli was 4th, with style2737, who I assume will be on his way to Vegas soon, 5th, & Mr Reliable, aka PBKR, 6th.

    It was especially pleasing to see tomb1793 collect £1,800 in 7th. He won Week Two of the Eliminator Freeroll Promo, picking up £1,100 of UKOPS entries, so it was great to see Mr Tomb make good use of them.

    Crossing the line together in 10th & 11th but empty handed were hughjarse & Tedson, who both did so well earlier in the Series.

    @boulton016 580000 1 £9280

    @IanSimpson 0 2 £5220

    @bombdogggg 0 3 £3625

    UKOPS 60 £40,000 MAIN EVENT (£40,000)

    Last Autumn MarcScot won a brace of Minis - Hitman & Predator - since when we've seen very little of them, and they had been absent since September before playing a few UKOPS without any success. That all changed last night with victory in the UKOPS Main & a £10,000 payday. Awesome.

    Runner-up FuzzyDare has plenty of black type on the CV, winning an Avenger Main last month, & collecting £5,800 here. Played just 8 MTT's here in three weeks but certainly made them pay.

    ann1975 seems to have been here a long time without attracting a single Results Thread mention until now.

    Too many familiar faces to mention made the cash, though a special well done to DUNMIDOSH, the old & withered ctbn, & of course NOSTRI, who won a bunch of UKOPS entries via the Eliminator Freeroll thing & so was freerolling.

    The tonyp142 steamroller chugs on, what a few months he has had. Won a Major in September, & was 2nd to Tedson in a UKOPS Main earlier in the week. He's on a wonderful heater & don't be surprised if it continues for a while yet.

    UKOPS 62 £3,000 Bounty Hunter (£3,000)

    This fell to Keysasoze, who has been here since Day One although does not put in massive volume. Amazingly, his first ever UKOPS cash was all the way back in 2012, in a UKOPS that was won by bearlyther, with yoyo, aka Julian Thew, in 5th.

    2nd was bigfatfish, another who is very much on the upgrade & has enjoyed a quite splendid last 12 months.

    PRhack93, 3rd in the UKOPS High Roller won by SwannLol, took the finale. Won a Summit just prior to UKOPS starting too.

    devil_tear so nearly made it three wins in 24 hours but had to settle for the runner-up berth this time.

    Yes, it's very odd how exercised some get over a game of poker. It's not as if they are pros (or very few, anyway), they are recreationals. They play for fun.

    I do get that it's a competitive game, & folks are entitled to be competitive. But some of the chat I see is vile, just abusing others, swearing & insulting everyone, & being generally non-stop Mr Angry.

    It's quite a complex topic psychologically, people do it for reasons many & varied. But logging on every night just to curse at all & sundry, I mean, why play the game if it gets them like that? Surely there are more relaxing & pleasant ways to spend an evening?

    I do have a theory that in many cases they are either hen-pecked at home, & this is their chance to, as they see it "assert authority", or maybe they are just a tad immature. As an adolescent, I admit there was a brief period when I thought it was cool to swear. In those days of course we needed to be a little braver, as we had to do it face to face as "online" did not exist. And of course these guys doing it online now would never do it face to face.

    And as to all the Sky Poker hate, fair enough, that's their view. But nobody forces them to play here, & it's not like there is a lack of alternative sites.

    All very odd, but perhaps I'm just old, or I got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning. ;)

    I certainly think your posts are interesting, relevant, sometimes amusing and always well thought out. The Foresight comment is a recent great example. Tiz a shame you dont get much feedback especially from the big winners. Praps they just play, take the money and run. Tbh tho, this Forum has only comparatively recently come to my attention. It is a unique feature and if it could be more publicised somehow it could be better. But I dont know how you could do that. Please do keep em coming tho bro. Even if only a few of us enjoy the daily read.

    Regarding people being toxic , kahanu summed it up nicely last night at table after some guy went off at me for calling with ace high. Is that a lot of people are bit burnt out after a 10 day series especially if they playing more and higher than they normally do. Also think online it always comes across worse, quite often get insulted in live poker, but you can tell they just having a laugh and don't mean any harm.

    think you're spot on, got told to rot the other day because I won a hand against someone. Find it a bit odd sending death threats and other stuff like that over a game of poker, getting annoyed is one thing but theres no room for death threats and other abuse.

    @roddy28

    That's fair comment, especially as to Live poker, where it's easier to see when it's just bants.

    "burnt out after a 10 day series"

    Well I know what you mean, but again, in the case of recreational poker players - which must be 99% (?) of the players here - why play all 10 days if it is going to make them grumpy? There's a 1,001 different things we can do with our spare time, & if we get a little bored or tired of one, or it makes us cross, why not take a little break & do something else?

    Appreciate the updates Tikay. I often peruse the threads to see who's won what if I've been playing the night before. Hopefully you can have a bit of time off after a busy 10 days.

    Re. Toxic chat. I find the best response is to just be civil. If they're a decent person they'll usually realise they were getting a bit out of line. Some people are just arseh0les though.
