It's a huge shame to see the site in the position that it is now. Guarantees are obviously going to struggle more at this time of the year, but some of them are missing by miles. And you can't really keep axing tourneys/guarantees because that will drive more people away.

Obviously the software issues we already know about, some people tolerate them but others are starting to go elsewhere because of it. The main issue for me is that there just seems to be no ambition to reinvigorate the site and we don't hear very much from those higher up - people need to be reassured that there are plans in place to improve the site/poker experience and that its members are still cared for. Right now, it just appears that Sky are just accepting the current situation for what it is, and it's resulting in loyal customers going elsewhere to play their poker. I pretty much play almost all my online poker on Sky, but the current situation is quite unsettling.

In my opinion, not having the usual Easter UKOPS alongside the Vegas stuff was a misjudgment - I have seen a lot of people query why there wasn't one.

This is my only site - i love it and really hope to see some investment.

As for the problems - it is Safari due to the recent update. I got support on it the night it happened a few days ago and i had to download Chrome to play. Works fine but until the next update it will have to be this way. Hope this helps.

Although i have an account with another site, I have rarely use it, I love playing on sky. Usually only play one table at a time but play most days. Long may it continue

I think there are a few issues. Firstly if tables continue to freeze it makes multi tabling very difficult especially if you play on other sites at the same time and might miss something etc. Which you really kind of need to do to make any decent hourly unless your a heads up specialist.

for the most part the table freezing has not been as bad as it has been in the past though I did have an incident of this recently and a crash yesterday.

The pending UK gambling white paper and any other restrictions that may already be in place make things tough. I do not know if there any issues for anyone currently since I have not deposited in a very long time. However I see two potential problems that could occur for the site. Firstly if deposits face more restrictions it means the net depositors (casual losing players) will dwindle off more and more which means the standard on sky may potentially get much much higher. This would not be the case on other sites since they accept players from many places and the UK makes up a tiny percentage of that.

further if they restrict wagering which has been discussed but hopefully wont be in any final white paper then we are all screwed unless we want to go to a black market site.

So for me I am at a cross roads do I stick with MTTS which can have frustrating nights where one or two hands go the wrong way means I make f all on the night or actually have a losing night, do I go for spins and goes which have very high variance and require a lot of grinding to profit of leaderboards and rakeback, or do I go for double or nothings on sky alone which have stable consistent profit but a ceiling on how much we can make?

spin and goes wont have player pool affected by UK gambling legislation as on sites that have players from many countries very small percentage UK based. However could be banned all together from the UK because of the very nature of them.

Sky could be really badly affected by new gambling legislation which could kill the don root.

Right now the question I guess I have is, is there any realistic chance that Uk gambling legislation will come into force before the end of October?

I have exams coming up so soon my activity on here will start to drop off. However I plan to work a daytime shift full time in the summer and then play poker in the evenings all summer long until end of October once my exams are done.

If no legislation going to hurt sky poker in that time it makes more sense to go the DON route if it is it makes more sense to go spin and go route.

Such a shame to see this happening. Surely with a bit of money put into advertising/software etc Sky Poker can increase it's traffic?

I remember Sky Poker being advertised quite a bit on Sky TV and also enjoyed watching the Sky Poker channel. Would love to see this come back!

It appears everyone who said it was total rubbish that online poker sites had to find ways to retain custom to survive after black friday... are contributing here and not in a positive manner!

You are all agreeing here that sites could be disappearing en mass, due to lack of numbers, resulting in sites not being to update and maintain their sites top tourns and software due to dwindling numbers.

I have said all along, this was the problem after black friday, none of you agreed with that. Yet all the usual suspects are here talking openly about sites, struggling, despite dismissing out of hand that there could be a potential problem with the lack of regulation.

In fact you all described online companies as huge money making machines, who did not need to adjust wotsoever, due to their huge profits from fees and rake.

It appears a number of you here, are backtracking quickly on just how profitable a site can be in 2022......

    No. Only in your mind.

Your position has been that online poker sites have been illegally manipulating stuff in order to maintain their profits.

Our position is that, in a naturally shrinking marketplace, some poker sites need to consider making legal adjustments going forward.

That is about as far apart from your position as it is possible to get.

always played through safari - no issues. I guarantee Chrome will work - just select accept pop- ups to make it smoother. It should do until the next update.

Making guarantees is not necessarily Skys strong point 😉

It has been naturally shrinking since Black Friday. It is not 'my position' that sites illegally manipulate stuff to maintain profit, they have all been fined for doing so. Regardless of it not being directly towards a poker deck, it has been activity aimed at making money from vulnerable and opted out customers and is as underhand and illegal as anything i might have suggested.

These are sites that over the last 10yrs have tried everything to keep poker going and are finally facing a losing battle. To dismiss out of hand that they would even think about retaining custom to whatever means possible, in an area that is very poorly regulated and is certainly not scrutinised by anyone, is extremely naiive.

I mean they are prepared to do it in the areas they know ARE scrutinised, so what do you take from that? hmmmmm?

@TheWaddy maybe you are a bit obsessed with this.

This thread is about sky poker not working on a mac, with what looks like a solution.

Someone mentions sky struggling for numbers and your all over the thread like a rash like its all the proof you need. You do a quantum leap from numbers being down to obviously they are fixing the deck.

    Just give it up.

If numbers dwindle so low that it doesn't pay for itself , sky poker will close or merge or something.

Its not really a business model to fix the deck more and more as numbers decline.

Your beliefs have been ridiculed, laughed at and mocked and its making you believe even more strongly. Now you are clutching at straws to prove you're right, its like being proved wrong is an attack on you personally so you are digging your heels in.

Its an example of a cognitive bias that ruins the ability to reason properly.

    Please stop.

you may be flagging up as a problem gambler or someone mentally unable to comprehend fact from fiction.

Sky may have to restrict your account as an adult safeguarding issue and to avoid being fined for letting you continue.

As opposed to the ones putting up AA posts and those supporting them with stories of drugs and other addictions..... i see... i mean these guys post admitting addictions, i dont see them being warned, in fact they are applauded.
I have not put up anything in this thread other than to discuss poker sites dwindling appeal, the same as everyone else.
Apologies to contribute, i forgot it was 'a members only' forum.

All you do is argue about the same thing over and over. It usually comes back to your opinion that the sites are trying to squeeze customers with rigged rng, but if it's not that it's something else.

I'm not saying that you're wrong about the RNG, even tho in my opinion you are, but almost nobody agrees with you, so stop bashing your own head against the wall.

I was merely pointing out the same people who were saying just a few weeks ago that why would sites chance doing anything against being squeaky clean, when they do very nicely out of rake and fees.... are now saying that the rake and fees are not enough for sites to maintian guaranteed tournaments and software updates.

I think its fair to point out they have contradicted themselves.

Three times in the current tourney I've been moved to another table. Each time I'm just left looking at an empty seat where I was sat. No new table opened. So with a short-ish stack, I'm left scrabbling to open the lobby and clicking through the list of tables to see where I've been moved to.

    Shabby really.
