The only point I would make is you didn't give EDF sufficient detail to review your case?🤔💩
I am using "Resolver" for all my disputes.

Your Direct Debit is Decreasing to £128.67
We have just run a Direct Debit review to make sure your payments cover your current balance and estimated consumption. This helps prevent you building up too much credit or going into debt.

Based on your current balance and estimated consumption over the next 12 months, we need to change the amount you pay from £169.94 to £128.67. This change will take effect on 1 December 2024.

The companies quote the estimated price for the next 12 months but they now have a 'Price Cap' review every three months, so the 12 month prediction is nonsense and in January we'll get another 12 month estimate, or am I wrong ?

Changes to energy price cap between 1 October to 31 December 2024

Every 3 months we review and set a level for how much an energy supplier can charge for each unit of energy and daily standing charge, under the price cap.

    Next energy price cap review
We review and set a level on how much an energy supplier can charge for each unit of energy including the standing charge every 3 months. The levels for the period 1 January to 31 March 2025 will be published by 25 November 2024.

Surely you've gotta be completely nuts to pay by DD?
Just pay exactly what you use each month by card.

I prefer to pay the same amount each much.
This puts me in credit through the Summer, which covers the increased bill in the Winter.

@HAYSIE I know you replied to my post but does that DD last for the next 12 months or just until the next price review ?

    I will assume 12 months.
Unless another disaster happens in the meantime.
I am currently quite a bit in credit.
My recent bills have only been coming to around £70, and I have been paying nearly £170.

Do you usually pay what you have used monthly?

I was surprised at this months bills.
Luckily I have quite a bit of credit.
They have just reduced my dd, and my usage has shot up.
My electricity bill has been around £55 per month since April, and that hasnt changed.
The gas bill was £35 in September, £67 in October, £148 in November. effectively doubling each month since September.
So almost £200 for both this month.
Well I have no intention of sitting here playing poker in the dark, or with a big coat on.

If anyone is with EE check your bills as some offers/discounts are being automatically removed, I've been talking to them earlier and they're aware of the situation but don't know why it's happening, they're crediting affected accounts on the next bill.

I checked my DD earlier and EE had taken more than usual, so I called them and that's when they found out that discounts on my bill had been automatically removed, they couldn't explain why. They couldn't refund me the money so said they'll apply the credit to my next bill. If I was you I'd check your latest bill and if there are any disputes then give them a call. EE have also now got a new system, where they call you back within 15 minutes so you're not waiting in a queue listening to lift music for ages.

    I dont get it.

I sent off my meter readings today, and have been notified of the charges for last month.
I am unable to uderstand the gas charges.
Specifically the meter readings appear to show that we have used almost exactly half the units in December, that we used in November.
Yet we have been charged more for December.
    Could you please explain.
