IPL 2014 tips + stuff

This is my tipping thread for the world cup.

 Running profit/loss = +6.7pts


Inspired by Peter27 thread on F1 and also I read something a while back from PokerMoon about betting on cricket so I thought I'd have a go.

Rule 1 - Never bet on Pakistan if they're chasing, so never ever before the toss. 

Rule 2 - Never bet on Pakistan in a dead rubber.

Its hard to say who will win (thats the beauty of this game, even the mighty Glamorgan beat Somerset last year)

What I am sure about is that Australia should not be favourites to win and are a cast iron lay to 'reach the final'

This is about 2.5 on betfair. They're in the group of death and would probably have to play Sri Lanka en route too.
They were also humiliated on their last trip to the subcontinent and are without Mitchell Johnson. In addidtion I cant imagine many batters losing sleep over Brad Hoggs left arm wrist spin.



They are in form but only because they played Enlgand and their players have plenty of IPL experience but this is my LOCK OF THE WEEK

    This is really tough and is almost certainly a no bet.

    However this would be pretty boring if i continually wimped out so.....

    Has to be an opener really.

    Sri Lanka are in the easy group so I'll recomend

    Kusal - 25s (various)
    may come a bit soon for him but he will be a star in the future I'm sure

    Dilshan  28s with our very own skybet

    'well its bound to be a  spinner' I hear you say.

    Maybe but maybe not.

    The top 2 bowlers in the IPL last season were Dwayne Bravo and James Faulkner. They both bowl at the death and are avaialable @ 33s and 22s respectively

    Nuwan Kulasekara is the top ranked seamer in the format and is widely available @ 50/1

    Stuart Broad picks up more soft wickets than anyone else and bowls at the death.
    I never want England to win so I wont even bother looking at his odds.

    Umar Gul is also a wicket taking specialist in the format and may be worth considering. He was reversing it at the death in the 1st warm up against NZ.

    That being said it probably will be a spinner, the top 3 most obvious are:

    1. Senanayake
    2. Ajmal / Narine
    3 Narine / Ajmal

    They may well win but wether they're value or not is another thing.


    Tip is Bravo, Faulkener - 0.5 pts each

    Pakistan v India

    Hafeez top Pakistan runscorer.

    Compared to the rest of the batting line up he's relatively unflappable even if he is a batting all rounder whose bowling is better

    7/2 all firms - 2pts

    West Indies @ 7/1 for me.

    Lots of IPL experience.

    Gun batsmen, Gayle/Smith/Samuels/Russell/Sammy/Bravos x2 all smash it.

    Best bowling attack by far imo.

    Bravo at the death.

    2 mystery spinners, Narine/Badree.

    Santokie could be the star of the tournament on these wickets.

    It's a shame Pollard isn't there in form too. 

    Also got Badree leading wicket taker ew @ 40/1 last week. 

    Saw India price boosted on skybet last week to 6/1, had a free bet so used it on them just incase WI flop. They're always in with a shout.

    Very true and on paper West Indies  are the ultimate T20 side.

    Only problem with them is they could crush India one day and lose to Bangladesh the next although they looked awesome against England. They'd probably be my favourites even in that group.

    Badree is certainly a value shout as he picks up good wickets considering he doesn't bowl at the death.

    Trying to pick the winner for me is almost impossible cos I get like an over excited school girl thinking about the possibilties.

    I'd say Sri Lanka are the most certain to progress to the semis (5/1 corals)

    If i could turn a profit on any sport it would be cricket I think.

    but i predicted the result when it was 1.01 to lay on the exchanges but didnt  go with my instincts.

    Just 1 bet today.

    SA highest opening partnership v Sri Lanka @ evens.

    Dilshan looked dreadfully out of form again in the warm up.

    SA have Amla and De Ko ck up top, they look 'lower variance' on paper.

    Steyn 10x more threatening than any potential Sri Lankan opening bowler.

    Wonder if we're going to get 75 verses of the Sri Lankan national anthem again..........

    Wondered myself what happened to Irfan. He didnt play in the sri lanka series or asia cup. I know fitness was an issue for him.

    Pakistan were totally awful yesterday. Flagship group stage game turned into a total anti climax (((((((

    There is no real market to get a bet on for him, but David Miller is a boss. Almost won the domestic T20 for us singlehandedly a couple of years ago. No chase is ever over whilst he's at the crease.

    SA look light on batting in the lower middle order, expect some fireworks from him in this comp as he's up to 5.

    The Sanath lookalike is uncanny!

    No bet in the England game, but NZ look a gr8 price to me, think we're going to get hammered.

    No way I can bet against us though, hoping for a miracle and Lumb/Guptil to both get scores.

    Miller to win this for the Saffers btw.

    Well done to DOHHHH on the win.

    Kept up my 100% losing rate. Now -7 pts. Foray in to sports betting has backfired thus far. Saved the 'head in hands man' in note pad so I don't have to keep searching for it.

    Also lost 3 euro in SNGs.

    On tilt now but won't start martingaling just yet.

    No betting today since I'm off down Cardiff.

    My tips are basically what I hope will happen.

    Pakistan and West Indies win.

    Arriva trains will ensure that the day is as unprofitable as possible.

    Be able to watch the games on sky+ so no adverts. 
    Yes sky I have noticed they're every 2 overs FFS.
    Cant you just not pay a salary to Nick Knight and show ads every 4 overs???

    Late on parade today, got on just in time to see Pakistan finish their innings off in style to post 191.

    Really like the Aussie batting line up, so I'm thinking I'll maybe have a few quid at a price.

    Click on oddschecker and can't get better than 6/4.

    To chase 192, against a thoroughly decent Pakistan attack.
