Right - Poker. I decided just to relax for a night and enjoy a bit of poker. £11 for the DTDs and Mega stack - Cant go much wrong for a nights entertainment. But tonight i encountered a serious cold deck. Not a moan really, I absolutely love it. You love it when you crush people in coolers, Also need to learn to take them when you are the recieving end. I just laugh and move on, good old game this. People will say 'you brought it onto yourself by pre flop play' For me it's all fine

Mega exit was a bit of a disaster. I made a big squeeze with JJ - called in 2 spots, flop came 9 high with 2 hearts, lad donk jammed so i went with Jacks, got called behind me aswell, I was ahead of 9 3 and 6 6. Turn was a 9 and river was a 6 to give the 6s a boat. Ah well.

That hand is in the clinic with a Q regarding Squeeze size, any good MTT regs feel free to take a look please.

May pop on for the turbos but unlikely.

Exam tomorrow and thursday, may drop a post in or 2, but big day in the conference today as Hereford were expelled and therefore we lost Chester from our division, and Lowestoft were shifted to our league.

Enjoyed sharing a table with you in DTD2 last night Matt Was fun watching you and Greggo going at it in a few hands. Cheers Mick

    2 contrasting exams.

Wednesday - Physics A2 paper (Unit 4 of whole A level but first A2 unit)

An absolute B**** of a paper. Teacher of 30 years also described it as one of the hardest he's ever seen. Didn't faze me too much, still think i did quite well and understood it all. Just means hopefully the grade boundaries are low for this paper. Didn't come out with the greatest of confidence but hopefully done ok.

Thursday - Maths Mechanics AS paper

Easy. Would like to think i can get full marks here. Would certainly make my life easier for an A, especially an A* but think thats slightly out of reach. Only issue i may have here was actually overcomplicating the answers because the questions were really basic. Mechanics 2 is a much more difficult advancement on Mechanics 1, meaning the workings out are different and we learn newer methods, so hopefully my methods shouldn't be too much of an issue and i can still achieve atleast 90/95 UMS out of 100.

Life - Watched a cracker of a rugby league match tonight, far more entertaining than the first WC game (Shoot me down, I don't care). Try Leeds almost scored to win the game was out of this world, gutted the come back wasn't completed but Huddersfield were awesome and ended up winning 22-24. Great game.

Brazil Croatia - Bits I saw it looked like the ref had a stinker. Croatia definitely an underrated side though. No shock result. Meh.

Poker - No play still telling myself not to get involved. Railed a few team mates that went well last night so well done to Rose who cashed main and a few others just missed out but played well. All the best to those going to Blackpool for the week-end, wish I could be there but obviously can't.

Week-end - Obviously will be watching England on Saturday. Spain - Holland tomorrow but will be watching the rugby league aswell. Probably rail some poker on Sunday night.

Exactly half way through my exams now. Only 6 more days to go. Day off tomorrow so extra weekend day, but back in the swing monday. Run good everyone.

Been quite an enjoyable weekend. Although a lot of revision stress etc.

Really been enjoying this world cup - didn't think i would too much as international football for me is so boring. Watched all of the games on friday/saturday/today, with ARG v BOS kicking off as of this post being written.

Holland : AWESOME. A world class defence of Spain, torn apart by the dutch contingent of Robben, Van Persie and an exceptional Blind. I thought the dutch would cause an upset but can't say many people predicted 5-1. And it should have been more. Spain should have started De Gea over Casillas though.

Uruguay : Shocking. Beaten by a very average Costa Rica side. From an England perspective, we should really be beating these 2 sides if we approach the game in a similar manner to Italy. Disappointed that we never got anything from the game but happy with how we approached it in the attacking manner so hopefully we continue that way and we will cause Uruguay/C Rica more problems than we did to Italy. Need to sort that left side out - not sure whether the conditions affected them too much but i'd possibly start Shaw over Baines. Would keep the rest the same, but put Rooney more centrally behind Sturridge and Sterling out wide.

Life - Been mainly revising. Had a very stressful session today, going through another maths past paper and finding one of the hardest questions probably ever seen on a Core 3 maths paper. So ended up spending the past hour talking to 3 different people about it and watching a youtube video from mathsdave.

Exams - 4 done, 4 left. 1 Tomorrow Morning. (Monday) , 2 on Wednesday Afternoon and my final one on Thursday Morning.

Other stuff - Conference North line-up has now been confirmed .. 7 weeks to go, very excited. Fixtures released 3 weeks tomorrow.

    AFC Fylde
    Barrow AFC
    Boston United
    Brackley Town
    Bradford Park Avenue
    Chorley FC
    Colwyn Bay
    Gainsborough Trinity
    Gloucester City
    Guiseley AFC
    Harrogate Town
    Hednesford Town
    Hyde FC
    Leamington FC
    Lowestoft Town
    North Ferriby United
    Oxford City
    Solihull Moors
    Stalybridge Celtic
    Stockport County
    Tamworth
    Worcester City

Charity game - Now been fully organised. Wrote this story a few pages back - regarding a best mate of mine who went to down cancer. Any Birmingham City fans have probably come across this name, plus anyone from the Redditch/Stratford (Upon-Avon) area. https://www.facebook.com/events/760600837318625

Run well everyone, especially TPT in the DTDs tomorrow. One final push and i'll be back on Thursday. :-)

Maths went better than i probably anticipated; thought the paper would be harder than what it was. Been struggling today from my hay fever - dog needed to be walked and because i like to go for a stroll round the field with girlfriend + her dogs, decided to go over there. Since then i've kicked off and spent the past hour on a revision break lay in bed sneezing my head off :-(. Plan to do a bit more work, watch Germany v Portugal and maybe do some railing of the DTDs and catch up with some team mates.

Exams are coming to an end soon, need to figure out what to do with my roll and how much of it to use, after i have placed some bets for the forecoming season. Would like some advice from mid stakes MTTers if possible, will ask the question towards the end of the week. Also plan to set a challenge after deciding on my BR.

Pleased to say they have happened. Gone. No more. Last few have been a bit tricky but still went really smooth. Been a really tough and emotional few weeks for all the wrong reasons, and it's all gone! Over the moon!

Definitely getting back to the tables soon, probably starting next week. Taking this weekend off everything to relax completely, head out on the booze and spend some non revision time with the girlfriend. :-)

Premier league fixtures were out on Wednesday, plan to do my annual few as a part time Man United fan so long as they don't clash with Leamington games. Usually dont but sometimes Villa v UTD is a 5,30 saturday evening game and thats no good! -

    Man City (A) - 1st November 2014
    Aston Villa (A) - 20th December 2014
    Liverpool (A) - 21st March 2015

    Bankroll:

Now for where do I want to go with this - Obviously I could carry on like I am right now but I have this huge lump of money sat on here when in reality I enjoy the £5 games more where I feel I can use an edge to make money. I play the Tuesday/Wednesday mains also. I like to play on 888 also and plan to play on an extra site too, but I will mainly be based around here. I ended my last session with a £4.5k BR and withdrew down to £500 until I decided on what to do. I built this BR up from my tournament tokens and £30 aside for non league bets, ended up starting out losing at poker obviously but recently got up poker profit of £980. The other money came from successful bets in the non league market. Obviously will keep some money aside on here for betting purposes. And about £2k of it is definitely being kept for life and treats and essentials :-)

If I was to resume here playing £5 games each night with the main satellites or turbo/rebuy main events, what sort of roll would I be looking at? I also try to improve my cash game aswell so I will sometimes have the odd cash session, and any DYMs i play will be at £5 games also. Other sites i will be looking at MTTs only.

Any sort of advice/pointers would be appreciated. Just need more experience I think, whilst I'm only young I hink I have a decent grasp of the game now. Plus I talk with multiple successful players on a daily basis aswell. I don't want to move up the stakes too quickly just because I can as I'm rolled for it. I've been told by a couple I have the ability to do this already but feel I need more experience and feel for the game.

Also struggling to come up with a challenge idea - Obviously the aim is to maintain winning status and increase earnings from poker, but a figure would be a bit of a dull challenge I think. I'm quite a unique bloke so i enjoy the different experiences/challenges in life. Again, any advice/pointers welcome.

Providing you play well and make good decisions, then you should be enjoying the game and making money long term. I don't really understand the idea of challenging yourself to attain a certain profit. You might play very well but run badly. Would this dishearten you if you fell short of reaching your goal.
You could also set an easily achievable goal, as some seem to do, there's little satisfaction to have from reaching that target.

If i were to challenge myself, it would be something like 'to enjoy myself and to be as good as I can be'

Agree with both of these yeah. I am one to enjoy everything I do so the play will probably continue until I start to find things boring.

Some aspects i'll want to improve are cash games/satellite areas, with hopefully the plan of attempting to get into next UKPC/SPT. But the whole challenge really is to enjoy myself and maintain winning tournament player status. Just the BRM challenge now, have tried to stick within my means but £5/few main events out of over £4k seems rather too tight lol.

You most certainly are the wise so thank you for your post.

Fresh and ready to return to the poker scene tonight. Odd how it's been 2 weeks since i've played, and 20 days since my last proper session which was my deep turbo run. Look forward to returning for the DTDs and typical monday schedule. Here now with a fixed bankroll having made a lovely withdrawal. June has obviously been a non volume month having only 135 reward points but will turn out to be my best profitwise on sky poker :-). The real challenge begins today of continuing to improve my game, maintain winning status and just to enjoy it.

Have an interesting story to share later regarding a police incident this morning. Run well everyone!

Uhhhhhh. It's nice to be back playing but some very sick hands indeed. Did enjoy alot of the banter talk though. So i played 10MTTs tonight, 0 cashes, and a total of 2 head prizes which came to a whopping £3,56. I would post some hands to see if there would be any help as to where i went wrong, but i go through the hands and they are all standard. Majority being myself getting outdrawn :-(

    - 6,30 Rebuy - have 7 8 of spades on 9s 6s 2d flop and we get it in vs top set, no good!

    - 6,45 BH - have AK hearts vs Ks10d all in pre, flop comes 9 J Q all diamonds, hits flush aswell on turn, no good!

    - 7,15 DTD 1 - have AA on Js Qs 7x : 3 way to flop, decided to go with my last 13bb, vs As2s and J7, no good!

    - 7,30 £200gtd - have AJ vs A10 all in pre, no good!

    - 7,45 DTD 2 - 1st hand, I have AK on A K x J and guy is donk min betting into me each street and snap calls big raise. Turn comes a 9 which is essentially a brick as Q 10 got there anyway. Turns out he overplayed 99 and gets there, no good!

    - 8,05 BH - have AK vs AQ suited, no good!

    - 8,30 DTD3 - 2nd hand in, flopped set on dry board, turn completes a gutshot and he gets there, no good!

    - 8,30 Megastack - 2nd hand in, flop came 4 6 7, 2 spades. Notes failed me with my set, No good!

Mini and 9,45 Speed I was crushed in a cooler situation really - 6bbs and pocket 3s in the cutoff. And JK vs AK on K high flop. Opted not to rebuy because I was getting slightly affected. 10 MTTs and 0 cashes is a bit depressing but I had some decent fun. Not my night, onto the turboes tomorrow!

I did inflict a bad beat on Vespa though, but its fair to say it didn't really even my night out :-(. Variance!!

So back to this - I went down to Tesco express earlyish about 9,45am to get early lunch because I had a filling to be done at the dentist at 12,30 (chipped tooth at a barbeque), and to walk down to Tesco from my house you go through an alleyway with an infants school on the left. Anyway there had been reportedly a mysterious man (You know what i mean, i can't type the word on here) going around the schools in studley (there are 4). I walked passed a strange looking man who was just stood by the infant school gate with a bag. He quickly hid something as I walked passed him. I turned around to look back and he cut me one **** of a look. It was some sort of nursery activity day and any parents that belonged to the kids were in the grounds so I thought him standing there watching was a little odd.

So about 50 yards from the main road and Tesco, 2 police officers came up and said have you seen this man - described as about 40ish with a beard etc, which was exactly like the guy I walked passed. Directed them to him and proceeded to grab my lunch, as I walked home I passed the police car and they were just shutting him in, hot policewoman said thanks and gave me a thumbs up, felt very nice :). These people are sick B***tards.

    A night of near misses.

4 MTTs and again no cashes. All standard stuff, nothing to really talk about. Good performances but couldn't win/hold that one hand which makes the difference.

    Speed - 20/88 11 paid. QQ < AK
    Main - 67/451 52 paid. A9 < QJ
    Mini - 73/504 55 paid. 77 < AQ
    8:05 BH - 28/234 26 paid. AK < AQ

Returns of £2.63 in heads make this a -£22.67 MTT night. Also played 1 SNG where i came 4th so -£5.50.
Enjoyed it though, with semi deep runs in all 4 mtts. Entertaining nights work.

23 without a cash now, back to the standard swings :-)

8 days since last post, blimey. Just been a little bit busy enjoying myself post exam period obviously.

Memorial game was Saturday just gone - 3 years ago I lost a very close friend (story is on page 2/3). We were hit with a horrible storm. I struggle to play football nowadays due to my BAHA (Bone Anchored Hearing Aid), but the fact it rained so heavily made it even worse. The BAHA processor is not waterproof - and replacements are over £3000. Solution? Play with it off. I put my 5% human hearing to the test in the position of left back - it was not easy and one experience i will never forget. Managed just 1 half though, which I was quite proud with. Just resulted in a very sore Sunday hahaha. We lost 6-4 overall - which isn't too bad, considering it was a squad of 14/15 unfit 18 year olds v a bunch of coaches that coach 2/3 times a week, plus had been training in preparation for this. Despite the weather it was a fantastic occasion and the family were chuffed with everything once more - that was the important thing. Another large chunk was raised for the QE childrens hospital aswell.

Our year 13 prom was Tuesday - fantastic night it was. Prom was held at a beautiful hotel located in Binley (Coventry) called Coombe Abbey. Food/Drink/Location was stunning. May have gone overboard with the drink too early and passed out on the coach taking us to our afterprom party in Leamington, but it was a fun night nonetheless :-)

Poker hasn't been going too well unfortunately. Since my great result in the turbo tournaments, i have played 48mtts, and came out with 1 min cash and 3 head prizes in total. Rather disappointing downswing which has affected my confidence slightly. Haven't fallen out of love with the game however. Gone over a few of my plays and haven't really done too much wrong, just making the plays at the wrong times and the cards are not coming down in my favour. Just think i'll spend a few days off enjoying the climax of Wimbledon, The World Cup and this weekends Super League meetings. I ended June up over £700 which was a great addition to ending my exams :-)

Big day tomorrow - Conference fixtures are released. Very excited for this forthcoming season. But for now I look forward to catching up with everyone again, will be railing as usual but probably won't play till atleast next Tuesday. Run good everyone.

Some bookmakers have started releasing non league prices, will have to get some tips up soon as i have been requested too. Enjoyed the quarter finals of the WC, and the Wimbledon finals, thought the doubles final was really entertaining. Bit gutted for Bouchard in the womens, but she'll win it one day. Hope for a Federer win :-)

Came 2nd in a game i played at a pub with some mates last night. About 40-50 players were there and created a decent pool. Ended up picking up £60 for my troubles off my fiver. Lost heads up after being 14:1 behind, clawed back to about 2.5:1 behind and got nut flush draw in on flop vs 2 pair, made the flush but the chap rivered a full house. Small confidence booster going into tonights schedule.

Was supposed to be going out to Leamington with a Czech friend who is departing us but he forgot to turn up. Silly lad

Tonight could have gone alot worse, but was recovered by a decent last hour. We are still down, but not a very big sum.

The MTTs were a shocker. 6,45 BH/7,35 Freebuy/8,05 BH all went quite badly. The main and mini went ok but lost big flips in both and resulted in exits.

Most of my money back tonight were from the sit and go area of the site. I played 2 six-max SNGs and came a 1st and a 2nd. £39 from an £11 for first, and £10,50 from an £5,50 for second. I played 2 £5,25 heads up games and won them both. DYMs - not so great, cashed 2/7 which was very poor.

An interesting hand i have here from the £11 Six-Max SNG, on the bubble with a player all in, obviously we like to check it down to eliminate but the board came out pretty nicely and the villain starts betting. Think i played it fine from my eyes as villain is quite tight and i don't expect him to fire turn with air whatsoever. Maybe too passive to c/c turn but i like my river play however. Just at the time it seemed like i played it badly but on the surface it looks OK. I can't really play for stacks because with Pokey in i am never getting called by anything other than a flush.

The RR game was by mistake but got away with it :-) (Don't ask how i messed that up lol!)

Started off 1/6 on DYMs, and 0/2 heads up and thought it's one of them days. Stuck at it and we climbed out of the hole. The SNG was vs 5 fishy players, had some feeling i was always going to win that one.

Tonight will be standard MTT schedule minus main/mini. Throwing in DYMs too. Hope for another profitable session, run well all.
