Very brief session last night. A tale of 2 sitties...
Complete cooler in a £1 6max. Avoid getting it all in pre with TT as there are 2 of us with c4k stacks and a shortie with 1k. Us biggies are blind v blind. Flop comes ATx and we end up getting it all in and it's gn gg as opponent had AA.
x1 £3 PLO8dym - built up chip lead - got involved when didnt need to but AK2x hand raised then shoved on from BB and had to call. No low and opponent connected for the high. Eventually on the bubble with 300/600 blinds and I have about 1.5k to opponents 1.2k. Had Q(45)6. Didnt feel I could walk the BB and go behind so decided to shove. They called with a decent high combo and the important A (AKJ9) but luckily the board is all over me and I hit a str8 for high and the low ftw. Cant say I was happy shoving there, one of those where it feels bad because you are likely to get called and hard to be ahead - and stacks would have only reversed to 1.2 > 1.5 with opponent in SB next if I folded.
Still thats poker bust with perfect play - win with a highly questionable one.
1xallin sat no joy to enter the main.
Was watching the excellent show on the UKPC final table when some familiar names get a shout out for being in the hunt for a jackpot.
Unfortunately I arrived too late to rail Harry but nice to see Matt237 FT and RSPCA is certainly having a good week.
Will update properly over the weekend on stats / games etc.
Just wanted to say a couple of things.
Firstly, great to see the PLO8 MTT supported by new players on Thursday.
Sam25ish was on my table in one - what a hoot. She had the quality PLO8meister that is Cormach sat to her left as well. Bet he was confused. Even more so when Sam scooped him for a large pot - although he came back well. This being after Sam prompted a chat box lesson on what made a low hand after admitting in chat she thought she had a 4low.
Hhy was on my 2nd table - Mr grumpychops (at least it was something like that Sam calls him) didnt appear to be too in love with the game though. Think Jack Dee on a bad day.
Tried to cheer him up by donating my stack but that only seemed to have a minor short time effect.
Hope more people keep trying the format and some convert to regulars. If you are prone to tilt when you get sucked out on PLO8 is a great leveller.
1. You are very very rarely a long way ahead so outdraws happen all the time
2. When you know you dont really know the game and have alot to learn, it is a lot easier to handle the fact you lose a pot because you can excuse yourself and not blame others
Can be frustrating for the regs though when busted by 9998 of 9922 kind of hands.
Had actually over extended my b/r with a couple of dym losses so did the sensible thing (not) and regged a bigger dym today £5 plo8 Naughty naughty - luckboxed it. Early hands were all missing but played some solid ranges latter stages and luck held. Still below par on the score front though at £36.66.
Sensible BRM and grind back to follow - please let there be some 6max volume so I dont reg whatever the next sng with 4/5 sat players to get a game - or try something stoopid like cash.
Probably will be quiet over the weekend. Tables and forum. Which leads me on to point #2.
Tried to be a bit of a peacekeeper today but that didnt work - about as successful as Neville Chamberlain.
To all who post diaries / hands and those who comment and debate in a positive way I salute you - the community is what keeps me exclusively on this site.
It can be hard to take criticism, however well intended, I get that. It is a great opportunity we have here to learn. Post hands, comment on hands and learn from what others are saying.
I remember getting slaughtered on the forums early days for some naive thinking. I learned a lot. I still do - the fact experienced players post and comment is fantastic.
I have played in chess/bridge/table tennis clubs where the advanced players dont want to know the novices, a few make an effort to get to know you and make you feel welcome and pass on their wisdom. These are the ones we remember years later, treasure that knowledge and soak it up like a sponge, it's priceless.
I expect the ratio of players giving something back is about the same on the poker tables, after all we are told how the forum attracts a small % of the playing community so the majority just do their thing on the tables good bad or indifferent and that's up to them.
We are all part of this fantastic community and long may it continue.
GL at the tables. Be polite, or not, if you know the other person can take it as banter fair enough.
Hey Phantom nice post Are we getting closer to the £110 target? I'm facing my Spin-up dilemma now, should I get back in it and go for the £22 level ~ what do you think? GL! Ducky

Haha, I see what you did there... more C's I think I used my love.
Had a blast, even if I was a touch puzzled
Glad to read Mrs P is better and GL in yr quest for your/her dream holiday.
Thankyou for all the help BTW, I am obv now in my 'betty' attire swatting up as we speak Getting ready to crush you all next week... mite ask Jac35 for some advice <<< obv tis is a joke.
@Mrs Duck. I was going to say go for it! Then I checked the thread and see you already are. So GL.
I am a long way off the £110 - in fact I have been doing a bit of thinking on the numbers which were a bit sobering. Even with 40% ROI, on 6max I would need to play 100 6maxs at an avg BI of £2.20 so may make take a while at my and that games volume.
I met set myself a mini spinup budget when I reach £55.
Still enjoying my poker and not going bust so they are the main things for me.
@Sam thanks for posting - try a few PLO8 dyms to get the hang of it. Pretty good liquidity on there thanks to Tikay's diary and Macacgirl's challenge thread.
Agree with @hhy though doesn't make for easy multitabling between PLO8 and NLHE.
Good job I have a while to build the roll up to holiday levels.
Oh dear did what i said i mustn't and regged a couple of games beyond roll - and lost.
x2 £5 PLO8 dyms - played both pretty well - one raise not happy with and one reraise but generally played ok and got unlucky. 2nd exit hand may have been poor I was 2nd shorty with silly blinds 5 left and in BB for a rare limped pot. Hit top 2 pair but no redraws. short stack shoves and i sigh call then biggie comes over the top - I had see them play low only hands like the nuts and this was indeed the case. Both players nut lo with me top 2. A river gives biggie higher2 pair and its goodnight.
Early pleasure of busting tikay short lived - feared his pot r/r there was a time when that was always AA some combo or A2xx super combo, but I had witnessed him loosening up a bit and decided to call and got a lucky scoop.
I hate waiting around when I manage to clear some time to play and cant seem to resist playing whatever is regging.
I am not sure if I ever regged that site - I did either that or FT ages ago but never put volume any in either of the biggies.
I did have over $200 in another US $ account that disappeared into thin air after the US lockdown, which kind of put me off putting B/R into yankee dollars.
Had most of my profitable run on that site too - you had to write to them and get a cheque in the post from cyprus a week or two later. When I could have an online account linked to Neteller I thought it was christmas - then it all got frozen and no answer from customer support since. Mini-rant over. If anyone has ever got cash back they thought was lost from a European site that had $accounts locked down by US authorities I would love to know about it.
I am kind of tempted as a way of finding volume in my prefered format though. It's the STT I like though rather than the SNG part of it.
Breaking news #DIPC club thread closed. Not sure any rules have been broken there. Perhaps if mods had reacted sooner to certain posts there would have been no need for a #DIPC club. Posted by Phantom66
I can't believe it, where can I turn for help now?
'My name is enut, I'm addicted to Devon's thread and it's been 8 hours since my last post..........'
Agreed, I find it very strange that he can write some quite abusive and vindictive stuff on his thread, sometimes aimed at people who have little experience of Sky, and be allowed to get away with it. Most of us don't give a flying f for his comments (I'm in a team with Harry, I can cope with anything), but others may not be as hard skinned.
So I deliberately didnt post anything on the forum yesterday.
Time for some space and reflection I thought.
Having done that....
I apologise for some of my posts on the forum 2 days ago. I did kind of get caught up in the reaction to being on a certain ignore list. On reflection, childish, unecessary and I definitely didnt need to get involved in the recurrence of a dispute between a certain ex-team member and a team even if it was with good intentions.
I stand by everything I posted before the ignore list as I was genuinely trying to help a player who I had always been respectful of and engaged with a lot during our respective challenges.
On the forum I will:
Stick to poker chat + a bit of real life stuff
People will disagree with some of my opinions - I for one will embrace that because in poker and in life you can only learn from understanding other views and challenging your own.
For people who can take a bit of banter I will engage in that too - I have a sense of humour and I like a laugh.
Seems things have calmed down now on the forum. Hope it stays that way.
Had a bad day at poker. Having chased a bit on PLO8 and realised I was being silly I started a "6max only session" and went on a horrendous cooler - ran into monster hands were you cant give credit for them early doors in a 6max - always wary in a dym as most players especially regs are not going all-in x5 the pot without the nuts. 6 max often on a draw or "protecting" TPTK so calling with top 2 pair and running into a str8 happens sometimes. Without notes I am insta calling in that sort of spot.
Recovered most of losses with a reversal of fortunes then bizarrely loaded a 10nl Omaha cash table in the early hours of the morning. Doh look away now please. Had run down from £10 BI with an extended card dead run and missed flop/facing action. There was one player who was always cbetting and I just never had the equity to play back. On reflection should have r/r in one spot.
Ultimately donked off rest of my chips with a very badly played top trips. I was oop and checked next player min bets and gets 2 callers I r/r pot and get one caller. I have my answer and know where the other A is yet still shove on a blank turn with only the K kicker and no flush draw. Miss the F/H opponent had it of course with a 7.
So back on the grind - 6max only - until the end of the month.

Meh, we have to have a bit of fun on the forum right? As long as outright personal insults aren't involved it all helps to keep the place entertaining (which is the main purpose of Sky Poker...)
It's good to see you taking the more aggro approach to B/R management, just a shame the luck didn't pan out.
Do you have any re-deposit plans... giving yourself enough to play with to try and bink DTD or other such donkaments alongside the usual SNG games?
To discuss poker and hopefully learn and improve. This diary is an attempt to keep me focused and disciplined (which clearly doesn't always work).
and.. to be social, Definitely helps to have people interact through diaries / poker clinic / in the chat box etc. Banter that is understood as just that is great to be involved in. I just don't want to look back at my own posts and think I have ridiculed someone who was not "in on the joke" which is the line I think I crossed recently.
In terms of BRM, I don't really want to have to redeposit, but if I have funds available I can definitely see the benefit in depositing a playable bankroll as opposed to grinding it up over small stakes.
Ultimately if I look back at this diary from a Caribbean beach it wont matter at all whether there was a cash injection early doors.
Plan A is to keep playing with this roll (now down to £10 after some poor luck in some dym bubble bingo).
I only have 9 games to go to complete the PLO8 100 challenge. My % has dropped recently so I am not winning any awards, I am going for the ladder challenge to see if I can spin up from 60p in the process.
Then it will be 6max when running or dyms ot see if I can quickly build a roll back up.
A few winning cash sessions in plo at 4 and 10 action tables and 2 out of 6 in the plo8 spinup bravery cross side event to the 100 challenge.
A £5 bink from the vegas freeroll and im back up to 27.93.
Apart from 1st car crash session on plo finding my feet now. Does help when getting it in ahead i have mostly managed to stay ahead. Somehow plo seems alot simpler to play after a lot of plo8.
It was going oh so well. After my car crash 1st PLO cash table in a while I had been steadily rebuilding the roll with 6 winning sessions in a row.
Then the inevitable downswing and £24 disappears in one session.
One terrible hand - I mean so baaad. A(A7)8 on a K73r board, I had preflop raised x2 callers and a player check-raises me all-in. Fold I think - obviously has set of kings but do I - no! call - #idiot - top set holds.
The other biggest pot I lost was fair enough imo AA(Q4) raise a flop bet on a 8(75) board they shove all-in - think I had the equity to call but their 2 pair improves to a str8 and no spades.
So down to £4.58.
Sums up my cash life really can build steady run of winning sessions then play for stacks on unecessary flips and make the odd stupid call to lose it + a bit more.
I will make one attempt to spin this up quickly and if it doesn't work I will reload.
Ok so bust B/R now £0.03 - lost my £2.25 dym in the spin up challenge.
A bit of perspective...last night witnessed someone collapse and have a fight for their life - losing a few quid at poker is no big deal.
The unfortunate man was Ted Robbins aka Den Perry at Phoenix Nights Live. I had posted the fact I was going as a reason to be cheerful, and it was a fantastic comedy evening that all 4 of the family were enjoying, then it was cut short in tragic circumstances.
It seems Ted is stable and expected to make a full recovery which is fantastic news.
I'll reload at some point this week and then make sure I double my points for the 3 FR in March. Seems a fantastic opportunity to spin up some holiday funds quickly.
Feb Target = 538 points, current = 3 points
Life's defintely too short or certainly can be - I will take a more aggressive approach to BRM in Feb/Mar and see where that gets me (probably a few reloads out of pocket) but you never know - I could just bink something.
Comments
Jack Dee on a bad day? I'll take that
Are we getting closer to the £110 target?

KQ hits top pair v set of Ts then gets back door flush
AJ beats AA
Ak all in v QQ on low flop - hits A
luckily all in my favour - didn't play great but they helped me to a winning session.
won 3 2nd in 1 and lost 3 6max for £5 profit
overall numbers now...
Do you ever play the sit and go's on stars
I've been playing a few of the 45/90/180 sit and go's/ good fun!

4nl - aipf v table maniac AQ v KdQd flop QJdx Ad 7d was fully expecting the Td on river just to rub my nose in it.
I'm going to try the dym double up challenge now.
