Just catching up on this Diary. I wish you luck with it Andy, and your poker journey. You have had an outstanding start so far with your roller exploits etc.
When you get 5....give us some background details to yourself.
....how you started playing poker/life situation/job etc etc. Only tell us what you want though.
Do you ever go Chester races? Now that is a good day/night out
1st things 1st.... Yesterday was gravy all round for all Cestrians. Although I am a Leeds fan I have always had a soft spot for Chester and watch them quite often. Yesterday a 94TH MIN winner in what was a brilliant game against our over the border rivals Wrexham made sure nobody had dry chips on the way home because we p*ssed on theirs and ours were positively swimming in gravy! And to rub salt in their wounds, they could easily have been 3 goals up within the first half hour.
Right then poker... since last post:
MTTS
Main Turbo NON CASH -£11
Mini B/H NON CASH -£5.50
£750 gtd B/H £11 buy in finished 6/114 for £71.62 inc bounties.. so +£60.62
SESSION MTT BAL+£44
OVERALL MTT BAL +£9
£10.50 HU
I will not report these by session, but just by running total. At this point I have played 20 and won 16
16/20 W/r 80% Overall HU BAL: +£110
PROJECT 1k
+£119........ £881 to go.
Thanks for all the posts on this thread. I will reply to them tomorrow because I want to go downstairs, watch a recording of the great Wrexham masacre, fast forwarding to the good bits obviously.. Then a quck brew and watch the pca final table on ch4, assuming it's on at 12 tonight. It has been in previous weeks.

Cheers Maxally,
I've been playing for about 12 years. I am a welder/turner/miller. I plucked up the courage about 5 years ago to have a go at poker full time when my company were offering voluntary redundancies. But I was turned down when I applied. Now I look back and if i'm honest I am glad I was knocked back. I was making a steady profit at the time, but nothing major and since then, when I have had a losing month I wonder how I would have handled it if I was relying on it for a living and I think to myself "I dodged a bullet there".
Bumped into you a few times last night in the roller. Good luck with the diary and getting to £1k profit Hux, I'm sure it'll be plain sailing. Posted by Lambert180
In Response to Re: It's not ALL gravy..Hux's diary :
I've been playing for about 12 years. Posted by The_Hux[/QU Is this your first time on SKY? If so, what made you "pick" sky? Posted by Glenelg
I was playing at Dusk Till Dawn the week before a big sky event & all the promotional stuff was there for it. I had a sky account from years ago & just thought I would try it again because I've always watched channel 861 and often thought I would like to get involved , with the live tourns and forum.
Coincidentally, when I got back from DTD a mate told me of a bet skybet were offering for the season on Leeds, so while I was on there I downloaded the poker. I like the fact we are playing in £. I like the tournament scedule ( even though the bounties twist my melon somewhat) ..I did win one, but I think I just baffled people without knowing it.."I don't know what I'm doing so I'm sure my opponents don't know what I'm doing either" type of thing.
Oi!! enough with the Wrexham bashing! I get enough of that at work. we'll have our revenge (hopefully!) My drink (cocoa obviously) almost went over the computer when that winner went in. gnwiaghggsggegg!!!****gbkd good job the kids weren't around
good luck on your poker, not so much with Chester )))))
Those HU returns are extraordinary, Andy, even allowing for the small sample size. You always been decent @ HU? PS - I adore Chester, those city walls are awesome. Decent bit of masonry, that. Posted by Tikay10
They are good, thanks, but as you mentioned it is only a small sample. I think the winrate stabalizes after say 100 games. At the moment a 4 game swing either - or + can effect it greatly. Even 100 games cannot be considered a large sample size in my opinion. I think if you are beating the game after a thousand games you can maybe expect to retain whatever winrate you might have at that point.
I am reporting my w/r profit/loss in sets of less than 100 for the purpose of updating progress on my project of tryinv to profit 1k.
I played a reg last night who has AMAZING stats.. so consistant. I won't say his name in case he posts on here and doesn't want to be tagged as a shark, but purley playing £10 HU he is the 2nd highest profit player this year on this network (if I have understood his stats correctly). Luckily for me he agreed that we could avoid each other. I wasn't sure he would with my stats being blocked.
I agree, Chester is a beautiful City. If the city walls etc interest you, and having watched you on tv over the years, you seem as sad as me on that front. I can highly recommended a book written by Ken Follet called pillars of earth. It is a fictional book based in the time when many cathedrals were being built. The characters & story are really engrossing it's a right page turner and although fictional it is based around historical facts and there is loads of good stuff in there. If anyone does read it and enjoy it there is a follow up book which is EVEN better called world without end.

I don't know which player you mean, but as I said on a thread last week these guys don't want to play anyone semi-compitent. That's how they get amazing stats. He'll probably be happier about this avoid agreement than you.
It's fine to do that of course, but they must invest alot of hours waiting for action. It's slow on here at the best of times, but when you're turning down games against anyone even half decent it's got to become boring waiting ages for a game.
Maybe they're doing similar on other sites at the same time to keep busy.
Nice start anyway, and these guys avoiding you wont do your win rate any harm at all.
I went to college about 10 miles from Chester and visited that fine city reguarly. Our favourite haunt was a fantastic pub down by the river called, strangely enough "The Riverside". You'd never know you were right in the middle of a city.
Good Luck Hux. Repping it for the NW. Season bet on Leeds? Did you go high or low on the spread for the number of managers? Posted by Phantom66
Ha. That would have been a better bet I reckon. +5 on that one wpuld probably take the money. Bet was Leeds to score 5 or more in any league game this season.

Cheers Walesboy. I would be pleased for Chester just to stay up to be honest, but like last year, winning the derby just about makes our season when we are hovering around the bottom of the league.
When I say we ... I am a bit of a hanger on, I only ever mention them if they are winning (not often). I support Ledds really.

I agree but in a game where even the crushers don't have a massive edge I think game selection can make a difference, so regardless of traffic I think it is important to use any info you might have against any prospective opponent and not willingly join games against specialists & profit players. Of course that needn't be the case for rec players or players focussing on volume but when trying to eek out long term profit I think it is a useful thing to consider.
I will add that I don't always practice what I preach. One of the reasons I started this diary was because I was starting a bad and costly habbit of not accepting losing sessions and jumping on high stake HU s&GOS or hypers and playing regs.. This diary is here to help me keep my eye on a goal and not rush things. I think after a hot running streak I was starting to have entitlement tilt. ( I learnt that one from show on tilt the other week) and it was leading to me not accepting losing sessions.
