I think it would be similarly interesting to produce a bunch of tables for tournaments < £11.... Posted by Slipwater
funnily enough, i thought about these things at the outset, in 2010 as there was no way i was going to spend 25 hours a day looking at everything.
i decided that i would look at £1k gtd games. i now have a good idea of 90,000 players at all buy-ins from £2.20 to £530.
it would be interesting to look solely at <£11 buy-ins but not certain it would add much additional information really. conversely, i know performances in the />£50 buy-in games and this provides useful information for other more specific reasons.
i do know my next step when i choose to develop this further. a good return to effort would be to add into the calculations the £500-£1k guarantee games. i might do this in 2015.
I hope you can keep this going through the year as I find these kind of records very interesting, (don't know what that say's about me, mind you).
I'm sure there's plenty of 'interesting facts' within the data and I'll be doing my own dissection over a morning coffee or two when I get the chance.
Have you found collating this data has helped you improve your own game?
Having a clearer insight into what equates as a winning and profitable player on SkyPoker must help?
As I may not appear on your 'leaderboards', so in attempt to make myself a little more results orientated, I've decided to keep tab of my own results, so I can try and close the gap on those players that are more successful.
With a clean slate for 2015, first simple targets for me are taken from your 'Winners' table, of course there are exceptions to the rules, but I have deduced that a 2% win rate and 15% cash rate, are goals I want to be closing in on.

hi darty,
i am intending publishing tables throughout january to see if they are of interest. there are so many different ways of looking at the numbers though.
i have been doing so for years now and rather than improving my game i look at it as preventing my game from deteriorating. i can see who the better players are, as this is results orientated analysis. i try to avoid them (including you) and now only need to find a way to hide on a table.
for you, i would think that a cashing rate above 20% is good. your current rate is an aspiration for me. the win percentage is dependant upon average field size but 1% for last year's mtts i analysed would be good. for 2015 i will look at twice as many tournaments and now include the below £1,000 guaranteed games down to the £500 guaranteed games. the consequence is that the average field size will come down and the aspirational win rate is increased a little.
but the funny thing is that it doesn't stop being rivered.
good luck again this year. good to play you last night. and did i say thanks for the chips?
Yeah i certainly enjoy reading the figures too, I looked at a similar set of results last year on another site and noticed I was finishing 3/4/5 far more often than i was finishing 1/2 that made me realise i was obviously not deploying optimal MTT strategy... that was something i worked on this year and now im over the moon to see I have fixed that leak and now finish 1-2 a lot more often.... without this sort of data it isnt something you would probably ever realise was a leak in your game..

cheers jordz.
your progress has been good to see over the past three years. ending 2014 with 3 ukops wins was good but reveals a major leak in your game in that you didn't win the other 30 ukops games.

I'm not sure you said thanks exactly, but none the less I was pleased to see you put them to good use and picked up another 8 heads and an FT. Not bad at all.

hi sikas, will do sometime soon.
5 year leagues.
there have been 10,750 games played, there were 93,914 different players
note that 5 years ago there were some games that i didnt look at, although i do now.
it's good to see some great players listed, especially tallytink and andrew1947
StayOrGo is having a superb month (4 wins) yet overshadowed by PhilAny2_Q with 6.

analysis of the leagues gives four tables showing rates.
this is those who have played at least 100 games this year.
1,382 players of 37,594 players this year so far. these are the top 10 in each category.
DECEMBER
12,146 players in 429 games
my plan for january is to analyse results from 600 tournaments. these will be those with a guarantee of £500 and above.
for the whole year 2015, i plan to analyse 7,200 tournaments
2014
38,383 players in 3,240 games
JANUARY 2015
results from mtts with guarantees of £500 and over played on 1 january.
2,178 players in 20 games
thanks j3ono ... we'll see how it goes.

Nice work, on and off the tables.
