How are our long term bets doing?

Here are comparisons of our price with the current price.

    Championship

    Middlesbrough to Win (e/w) 11/2 (Now 10/3)
Sheff Wed to Win (e/w) 28/1 (Now 33/1)
Huddersfield to be Relegated 4/1 (Now 11/4)
Blackburn to be Relegated 8/1 (Now 4/1)
Burnley Top North West Side 6/5 (Now No odds available)
Sheff Wed Top Half 4/5 (Now Evens)
Blackburn Bottom Half 5/6 (Now 2/5)
QPR Bottom Half 11/8 (Now 15/8)
Leeds Bottom Half 4/6 (Now 4/6)
Benik Afobe Top Goalscorer 9/1 (now 9/1)
David Nugent Top Goalscorer 16/1 (Now 25/1)
    Top Six - Middlesbrough 4/6 (Now 4/11)
Top Six - Hull City Evens (Now 4/5)

Overall pretty happy so far. Middlesbrough have justified my support. I see their defeat against Bristol City as little more than a blip & feel they are set for a top three finish. Huddersfield & Blackburn have both started poorly and should give us a good run for our money. Afobe has started brightly but we still have to survive the transfer window. Nugent hasn't had a start yet for Boro but a couple of goals and......who knows!

    League One

    Swindon to Win (e/w) 18/1 (Now 20/1)
    Barnsley to Win (e/w) 20/1 (Now 25/1)
    Bury to Win (e/w) 35/1 (Now 45/1)
Blackpool to be Relegated 11/5 (Now 1/3)
Southend to be Relegated 4/1 (Now 5/2)
Port Vale to be Relegated 13/8 (Now 6/4)
Top Half - Burton Evens (Now 2/5)
    Top Half - Rochdale 6/4 (Now 8/13)
    Top Half - Shrewsbury 5/6 (Now 8/5)
Top Half - Bury 10/11 (Now Evens)
    Bottom Half - Chesterfield 10/11 (Now 7/4)
    Bottom Half - Walsall 8/11 (Now 15/8)
Leon Clarke Top Goalscorer 16/1 (Now 16/1)
Tom Bradshaw Top Goalscorer 25/1 (Now 12/1)
Paddy Madden Top Goalscorer 25/1 (Now 10/1)
Top Six Swindon 2/1 (Now 5/2)
Top Six Barnsley 2/1 (Now 11/4)

League One hasn't gone so well. Swindon have proved to be flaky so far and Barnsley are not firing and have been lucky to get the points they have so far. Barnsley have a young side so will no doubt improve but may be too far behind by then. Rochdale, Burton, Southend, Port Vale & Blackpool are going well for us. Chesterfield, Walsall & Shrewsbury are doing less well while the jury is out on Bury. Our goalscorers have started well. Paddy Madden has three league goals while Bradshaw & Clarke have two each. The leading scorer (Armstrong) is a loan player so probably will only play in this division until January and the second leading scorer (Dack) is a midfield player so he is unlikely to get a total to finish top. Madden is scoring freely but I have doubts about the other two. Clarke is currently injured & Bradshaw seems to be creating more goals than he is scoring at the moment.

    League Two

    Portsmouth to Win (e/w) 4/1 (Now 10/3)
Top Half Wycombe 5/6 (Now 2/9)
Top Half Bristol Rovers 8/11 (Now 2/7)
    Top Seven - Orient 11/8 (Now 2/7)
    Top Seven - Northampton 13/8 (Now 6/4)

Happy here with all bets now at shorter odds than when placed. Orient are looking good at the moment and it looks like a two way contest already.

I am going to add a Top Goalscorer for League Two - Matt Green (Mansfield) at 25/1 (SKY Bet). This is a bit of a punt with Ibhere already on seven goals and Green on only two and having a terrible injury record. I just think that if Green can stay fit then he could get into the top three scorers. He was quality a couple of years ago, scoring 40 goals in the 12/13 season. He has just got back to fitness and scored twice on Saturday.

I've been following this all season, and I'm really impressed by how much detail you include.

I've had a season long bet, so you've inspired me to check how it's doing! Hope you don't mind me sticking it on here.

    All 50p EW 4-Folds;

    To win Premiership
    • Chelsea 7/4 - Now 11/2
    • Liverpool 28/1 - Now 50/1
    To win Championship
    • Derby 11/2 - Now 14/1
    • Hull 9/1 - Now 13/2
    To win League 1
    • Sheff Utd 9/2 - Now 2/1
    • Scunthorpe 20/1 - Now 40/1
    • Doncaster 20/1 - Now 25/1
    To win League 2
    • Notts County 16/1 - Now 25/1
    • Wycome 20/1 - Now 16/1
    • Northampton 16/1 - Now 20/1

So it's pretty terrible at the moment, but if I some how get 4 winners, that payout is incredible!

Just to note, as a M'bro fan, I'm pretty ashamed of myself for backing Derby and Hull and leaving us out!

As I said earlier in the thread, I thought all that Boro were lacking was a goal scorer to turn them from a Top Six side into a Top Two side. Maybe Nugent is the man although so far it seems that Kika has stepped it up a level. As I see it, it has been a gradual process and Karanka has improved the squad but also got more out of existing players.

Derby have spent heavily on deadline day to bring in Butterfield & Johnson, which gives them incredible depth in midfield. It is fairly wide open this season with none of the relegated sides likely to dominate. Hull will be close. Burnley might be close & QPR will be a threat now with Austin staying.

Several other teams have shown intent in the transfer market (Fulham, Sheff Wed) but might take time before they are a threat.

I have been impressed by Birmingham City so far - two wins & two draws from four matches, which is a continuation of the form last season after Gary Rowett arrived. I think they are very good value at 5/4 for a top half finish so have added them to my portfolio.

Pleased that none of my bets for Top Goal Scorer got transfered but Charlie Austin staying at QPR means it will be tougher for our players.

Not a great set of fixtures today so just two small bets.

    Southend v Peterboro

This should be a low scoring match. 23 of Southend's last 25 home matches have failed to reach 2.5 goals. It is a risk following this trend after a team changes divisions but Southend have proved to be very consistent so far. Peterboro match up reasonably well with 7 of their last 8 eight dropping short of that line. Bet on Under 2.5 Goals at 1.96 (Betfair)

    Oldham v Bradford

This is another match that should be low scoring. Five of the Latics' last six home matches have failed to reach 2.5 Goals while 8 of City's last ten away matches have fallen short of this line. Bet on Under 2.5 Goals at 1.81 (Betfair).

    Good Luck!

It is a punt because both have started so badly. Both have squads that should be close on paper. My worry with Chelsea is that they could already be so far behind Man City that it will be tough to catch up. The SBC will be a lot closer with teams beating each other so it will be easier for Derby to catch up.

It's not for me but the pay off is good so I wouldn't put you off & many a buck has been gained by backing good sides on a bad run.

A 90th minute consolation goal did for us at Southend and an early red card didn't help us at Oldham as we lost both bets by a single goal.

Other results went pretty well for our long term bets with wins for Shrewsbury, Swindon & Bury (almost given up on Barnsley already) although Blackpool's win was a disappintment. In L2, Wycombe's win was good & Portsmouth continued unbeaten but with only a draw. Orient losing is probably good for us as well.

It varies, but Sky Bet seems best value with top 2 in prem (1/3) and top 3 in the championship (1/4).  (From memory - don't take my word for it!).

Three bets for this weekend, all small as I wouldn't recommend getting up to full stakes this early in the season.

    Leeds v Brentford

This looks like a decent bet for low corners. All of Leeds' last eight home matches have failed to reach 10.5 corners at an average of 8.4 per match. Seven of Brentford's last eight on the road have also fallen short of this line at an average of 9.0. Bet on Under 10.5 Corners at 1.95 (Bet365)

    Oldham v Peterboro

This looks like a high corners match unless a change of management at Peterboro changes the way they play. Bet365 have set their line at 11 corners here. This bet would have won four times, pushed twice & lost once in the Latics last seven home matches at an average of 12.9 corners per match. It would have won seven times & pushed twice in United's last nine away matches at an average of 13.1. Bet on Over 11 Corners (DNB) at 1.90 (Bet365).

    Cambridge v Leyton Orient

This looks like a good match for goals. The U's last six home matches have all gone over 2.5 goals while all of the O's away matches this season have had four goals. This makes the available odds of 1.95 on Betfair pretty attractive for Over 2.5 Goals.

    Good Luck!

SKY Bet don't do corners beyond the PL or televised matches. Bet365 are the only site that do these bets every week. Others do some weeks like Hills & Bet Victor.

Not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean place certain bets on certain sites or do you literally mean laying bets?

Pretty much, you can lay bets on Betfair but place bets on any site that covers that market. Bet365 are the only company that offer odds on corners on FL matches every week.

Two wins out of three with our bets at Leeds & Oldham winning easily and the one at Cambridge going down by a goal.

Level bets of £100 gave a profit of £51.00.

All six of the players we have backed for Top Goalscorer (Benik Afobe, David Nugent, Leon Clarke, Tom Bradshaw, Paddy Madden & Matt Green) scored today. In fact, Bradshaw scored twice.

If you had backed them in a "To Score Anytime" £1 accumulator would have paid £2952.
