Well my point Chill is that I dont think its anything to do with ability, I just think risk taking activities, like playing poker, or gambling in general is simply less appealing to women.

When men have done a days work they think they are finished women are planning all the time for a smooth running of the family life, which in my opinion men don't do. Actually its a fact unless the man in question does more of a female role in the home.

Yep so we are saying the same thing, other things are more appealing to women.

not sure if you can post outside links on here so i wont but i remember reading a long time ago ( 4-5 years) that a certain poker pro dressed as a women to play in a ladies event and won even tho he was male.

of course women can play poker they are exremely good liars ;).

i dont agree at all in women only events, if men did that there would be outrage. men only wsop, womens lib would be all over that like a shot.

plus ive also read that female poker pro likes the edge they get over men that they wouldnt get over women. dont think low cut tops would work in female only torns.

Well, rather interesting some good bits and the usual male prejudices.  Well being an average player some good results over the years but I feel that women play less because they cannot put in the time it needs, and dedication on the lower levels.  Just reply to a few of the above remarks, yes we do multi task better, and you would be surprised at what can be achieved in the five minute breaks.  I would like to list a few good women poker players on here such as, roguecell, sharksbite bromley23 and irishrose. Oh and just a little fact small tourney last night 29 males one female and female won.

Just to clarify, my post was purely tongue in cheek. I live with my missus and 2 girls so if I was even a tiny bit sexist then I would be strung up by my knackers.

There are some fantastic female players both on the live scene and here on sky, including your fine self who bosses bounty hunters for fun.

I did have a longer post planned but I've got to go and check that my missus has washed the pots before I get her started on the ironing.

I'm not buying women have less hours to play poker because they put it in more hours "planning for the smooth running of the house" because whilst that might be true it doesn't take into account that on average men spend more hours in employment.

I imagine they would even out to very similar total hours and therefore leave the same amount of leisure time for both to do what they wish with.

Agreed I have plenty of time to play poker too much time infact and if there was more females that played theres nothing to say they couldnt be as good as men, theres defiantly some top female players out there already.

but..... i would have to say i personally think men are better then females at alot of things, when you look at the top chefs, hairdressers, fashion desginers etc they do tend to be male but thats just my opinion.

I'd guess thats because the small percentage of men who choose those careers tend to be very highly driven given that they've chose whats thought of generally as female professions. The guy who tells his dad he wants to be hairdresser has to pretty driven to make a success of it.

Similarly, female poker players who have chosen to pursue careers in poker probably outperform the average male pro due to their drive to succeed in what is thought of as a male dominant field.

Pretty comical to say 'the ususl male prejudices' and then come out with that line.

What's a female role in the home out of interest?

I think its biologically agreed men do have a very slight advantage on women when it comes to poker, but that edge is definitely small enough to still compete on a level playing field, a lot more should be done to get women in to poker because to virtually ignore 50% of the population is crazy for the future of poker, but that needs to start with live venues, ive only played in 4 casinos/card rooms so im far from an expert, but there are a few simple changes that will have to happen soon, scrapping the scantily clad waitresses and massage girls (dtd) its proper cringe-worthy in this day and age and i personally believe headphones/ipads etc should be banned (maybe with the exception of long multi-day mtts) because i think its intimidating to all new players when most of the table are acting like robots, i think social interaction should be encouraged wherever possible too, as for online, womens only events would certainly be a big boost in the short-term but probably arent the greates idea in the long-term, I would say forums are a huge + for equality within poker though as id guess there is a far high percentage of women who are active on poker forums than there is actually playing poker.

Amen to that. I love everything about DTD except that. It's just demeaning, insulting, & 50 years behind the times.

Did you see the young lady dangling from the Skyscraper by her boyfriends hand.   The Rodeo girl on the the Wing Flier at 20 thousand feet. The girl going out with Prince Harry.  Girls like a Thrill ?
