Just having a discussion on table and all agreed it would be great if we had the 50k Guarantee monthly. Be interesting to see how it went. Obv hoping it was a success. So yeah doing a Poll to let Sky know what type of numbers they could expect.
A monthly £110 sunday bounty hunter would be lovely. Tonight's guarantee was cleared easily with the prizepool at over £60k. Even if sky had to reduce the guarantee a bit, particularly in the less popular months, some kind of big guarantee £110 rebuy bounty hunter would be an amazing addition to the schedule and I think it would succeed, particularly if there are a lot of feeders and unlimited re-entry
First weekend of every month would be logical. Have a good sat tree and chuck some seats in FRs again and it should hit the figures over winter when traffic is at its highest.
Was gonna start a similar thread but regarding the mini, so will just tag it along in here; this should be a monthly addition (minimum) Would be nice to see it either extended to 12 min levels, or retain 10 min blinds but add a couple of levels, as it did get pretty shallow just a couple of hours into it.
Could also make it a rebuy (or single re-entry) if worried about overlay, but tonights made a pool of almost 7k playing as a freezeout. Should be on the schedule at least once a month going forward, so us peasants have something to look forward to
Agreed! I think when ppl see "50k Guarantee" theyre more likely give it a go. Be awesome if Sky could trial it until Xmas. ( Or until it stops meeting Guarantee.)
The other good thing is the new customers who will then stick around, im pretty sure thats worth it in itself.
Was great to see the turnout today. Good Job Sky Team.
I would but I dont know why, guess am just a masochist.
Your all talking monthly, why couldn't this replace the Sunday Major, before I went to bed last night, this had like 108 people registered for it, but some how managed to get 515 people enter it and then got 94 rebuys.

Too frequent I think for a big guarantee at the moment to be held weekly, I think monthly and lots of sats all week
For some reason I cannot see the poll? But, I agree it should be added to the schedule. I'd definitely play it. The satellite structure was great & meant it easily beat the guarentee. How did Tikay & Neil Channing get on? Anyone know? Posted by goldnballz

Not sure who knocked them out and won the SPT seats, but rumour has it, it was Orford.
Yesterday was a great success, people were discussing it in the chat box at some of my tables in the days before. There seemed really good hype about it. It needs to be considered special to be able to get people to want to take a shot at playing it, try some sats etc. If it moves from being super to being normal then it wont get the numbers as people wont be bothered if they miss this one as they can play another. Freerolls for seats are great but this costs sky so they need to consider if they want to use marketing budget on a regular basis for this. If they dont then the guarantees may need to be looked at.
Maybe there could be a super one with £50k guarantee every quarter and say £25k guarantee one every month. Sunday major still remains in the other weeks as I do think a big freezeout is important for a poker site. Having a headline grabbing tournament which attracts players to the site and creates a real buzz is really good for the site.

Valid points. I do think though we are at a "tipping point" in online poker. Poker Stars is really letting their players down, and players are going elsewhere ( hence why Party Poker is really pushing at the moment ). I know Skypoker is not on that level, but still think with decent weekly/ monthly guarantees it can take advantage in the current climate.
Im curious why you think a big freezout is important for a poker site? I agree they should be part of the schedule but IMO SkyPoker's unique selling point is Bounter Hunters, and 6 max mtts. I think the reason the 50k smashed the Gurantee was in part to it being A BH. People like the fact you can knock a few players out and get your buyin back and freeroll.

I felt such a fool. The exact moment I did it I realised.
To make it worse, I was having such a great time playing it. It was my first NLH Online MTT in many years, & my first MTT on Sky since my Health problem, & I was having a ball.
Then I went & committed hari-kari. At least I can't blame anyone else for my exit.

Whoa how did you play that hand badly your the favorite vs that exact holding, you took a line that gave him the worst price - you psychic? lol - think the line was played tricky, you block the only hand that wants to check on that flop.
Also my Sky rage is making me bring this up so forgive me, but if you wanna post a hand login via the browser go to hand history select the hand then copy paste it into the thread like so
I do tend to agree with Matt though. I thought Sunday was a great success. I wasn't certain the guarantee would be beaten and it got through £50,000 pretty comfortably. There was quite a cost to that though. Sky Poker put quite a lot in with freerolls and if it takes a big investment from Sky Poker every time then they will have less money to spend on other promotions. I agree, it's a good one, worth spending something on, as long as it gets new players to the site and encourages infrequent visitors to drop I, then I think it's worth spending a bit of money on.
I definitely think that if you have a big event every now and then it has a bit of "sparkle" and gets people talking and becomes a "must play" event. If you had it once a month I think it might be hard to sustain the enthusiasm. It's also important to remember the huge difference between liquidity in the winter and the summer and if this had been held in July it probably would have been a disaster.
I quite like the idea of quarterly although I'd skew it towards the winter months.
I also really like the idea of having some bigger buy-in events infrequently to get new players in at the middle and top of the player range. If you had a few extra £500 freezeouts I think you might find some bigger players who don't come here often drop in and try it and even with 40 or 50 runners I think that might be quite a fun idea.

The only extra cost I can see that Sky incurred was the 50 seat freeroll they put on - because the usual nightly freeroll that gives away 3 seats for the Sunday Major where channeled into this, and the seats Sky awarded from the Sky Rewards freeroll, came out of the £1k prizepool - and even when you deduct these from the prizepool it still smashed the guarantee.

I agree with this, but isn't that what *cough* UKOPS is supposed to be about?.

Yeh thats true. But cant Sky just put it on every month but with a lower guarantee like they did with other mtt's over this period.

The simple answer is I would play.
